I think there is something wrong with the way the storys are uploaded. I have to fix quotation marks, apostrophes, and sentance structure every time I try to upload something. I am trying to fix every single one I can find, but is is very tiresome. Check to see if there is a bug in the site that is messing with the uploading process.

It's not a site bug, it has to do with the way your text editor saves the files. The site has the same coder it has had since the opening of the site, nothing has been changed. The line breaks also has to do with the way that your text editor translate it. For any more information on the line breaks and other editing please see the FAQ. A lot of the discrepencies occur because of the type of document that your file was prior to uploading. This translation error is part of the reason why Davesmom has some weird symbols and such over on FF.net. It is a common problem, but not one that the sites coding can cause.

If it's the same as ffn, the problem usually comes in with Word. All the special characters that Word uses (smart quotes for ' and ", ..., --, letters with apostrophes, etc.) are mangled whenever the text is not within a Microsoft product. The way I found around it was to just turn off the auto-replace, then do a global search-and-replace for the special characters. Basically, just stopping Word from using any of the special characters in the first place.
