I totally agree with you and I hope that in the multitude of reviews that I have left you, none of them have been taken badly. You story A Result of a Drinking Binge is my all-time favorite story. I love it so much, and while waiting for updates, sometimes I got impatient, but I understood that you have other things in your life, as I have in mine. Each update made me more and more elated then the last, though sometimes my frustration at the characters possibly came out in my reviews (it was just their personality, nothing that you ever did). I have written HP fanfiction in the past, but I once received a horribly bad review and as a result of it, I became so self-conscious that I took down all of my works and I didn't even write for myself for seven months. Now I just write for myself and occasionally I send it for my best friend to read. I totally understand you rant and what you say about negative reviews. I am only sorry that someone has made you feel this way because you are truly an amazing author (I found this essay because I was browsing through your works). Anyway, keep up the good work and don't get discouraged by what some ignorant people may say. They probably don't even know what they're talking about!!!

The only thing that irritates me only SLIGHTLY is when people let their stories go and don't finish them, like when the last update was in 2004, and it's 2007. And the last chapter they have here is a cliffhanger.

Author's Response: I agree that is a little disappointing, but the fact of the matter is that it is their story, their artistic license, and their literary reputation. They don't have to continue a story if they do not feel inclined. It is something you have to deal with when depending on other people for things. It happens all the time with TV shows, actual in-print books, etc. It's just something we have to get used to.

That sucks that people act like that, In my opinion an update is a privelage (as a reader) not a right. I love your fics, especially 'anything but secondhand' and though an update would be great, its sad that some readers don't realize you have a real life too.

I agree with you completely. Although thankfully I have never come across this personally, I (sadly) can beleive that it happens, and I am apalled by the rudeness of people who think we are writing machines ready to spit out another chapter in twenty-four hours. Thank-you for writing something about this!!!

The only thing I write are reviews! I sometimes throw the 'anxiously awaiting your next chapter' in my review, but it is not meant to harass the writer, I use it for encouragement, to let them know I am involved in their story and not just getting a quick story fix. I know that the writers have real lives (and I'll toss in some extra big kudos to those who write that have kids at home-I don't know how you do it, but I'm grateful). My only complaint is when a story is abandoned...the author should return to their story and post a note stating that they are either still working on it, or they have decided to shelve it (I have seen Myanceris do this). I'll close this by saying that I do find it annoying when reviewers harass about updating or post comments that are just plain rude and not constructive at all and when writers threaten to not update unless they receive reviews. Okay, your essay was quite thought provoking...I've just rambled and rambled on.
