Reviews For Dragon and Angel

I really enjoy this story thus far. Grammar, spelling and plot! The triad! I do have one (major) criticism. Ginny's "Angel in the House" act is really irritating me. A lot. Most women do really well throughout their pregnancies (not to say that all do, but most). It's not an illness and it's not going to have her completely bed-ridden. Bed rest doesn't actually have any proven effect on early birth and doesn't really help much else unless she has a diagnosis. Nutrition is more important. Your Draco treating her like a doll is understandable, but Molly Weasley, mother of seven, would know it is actually best to keep moving and keep active during a pregnancy. The fainting is understandable but the treatment following is ridiculous. Ginny doesn't even have a job to worry about (for some reason), so she should really be kept active. I know you're not going to re-write such an otherwise good story because of my criticism, but I just wanted to get it out there. Thanks for a great story, and I really don't mean for this to upset you, just to inform. I really mean it when I say that I truly enjoyed this story. Just this one element gets me.

Author's Response: Thanks for your comments, but you’ve actually misinterpreted that whole situation. A week of bed rest was prescribed by the Malfoy family Healer, because that is what Narcissa would have had after such an episode (she was the ‘oh woe is me’ type), and the healer is appeasing her more than anything – to say everything would be fine wouldn’t have made for a happy Malfoy family. Draco knows no better, and the Healer’s prescribed treatment was simply reported to Molly, so she accepted it (if the Healer says you need it, then you do it), because she doesn’t know if there’s an underlying problem, particularly at that point. More than anything, the week of bed rest was used as a tool to keep Ginny at the manor and give them an opportunity to sort their problems out. Taking just one element isn’t enough to color the entire picture.rn

rnGinny does have a job; it’s called being a mother to her two young children.rn

rnAs for your comment ‘Bed rest doesn't actually have any proven effect on early birth’, you couldn’t be more wrong. There are women who wouldn’t experience motherhood if not for spending the entirety of their pregnancies flat on their backs in hospital. Bed rest is commonly prescribed for pregnant women if there is a problem (sometimes for the smallest things, simply to allow the body to heal as it cares for the infant it is developing). Why? There is so little you can take in the way of medication when pregnant without fear of it affecting your baby, so quick fixes are out of the question. As someone who has spent a total of four weeks on bed rest (two of them in hospital) due to a simple health issue while pregnant (I have three children, by the way) I am well aware of the benefits rest can produce.rn

rnI hope you continue to enjoy the story. As you get further along you will read about Ginny’s opinion of her ‘bed rest’.rn

this was very intense.. i usually wait to review on the last chapter, but i had to here. i must say you are a very brave writer- and i think you are an amazing writer for it. you truly show full characters- even the worst parts. this was amazing.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! A lot of people didn't like this chapter, but I feel showing the full character/potential of a character is important.

Author's Response: Thank you :) It was a very intense chapter and actually quite difficult to write.

This story is fantastic. I especially loved Drake and Angel; also how you made Lucius believable-loving to his family but not to be played with.

Author's Response: Thank you :) I was very careful with my characterization of Lucius, because I didn't want him to seem OOC, just a little more human ;)

Squee!!!!!!!!! I love this fic :). I've already read it tons of times on ff.net, and just realized that it was on this site as well, though I should have expected it. I love it!!!! I love how Drake acts, because at times he's just like my little brother, and Angel, like my little sister. I think you portray their personalities very well :). Great writing; congratz to you and your betas, if you have any.

Sincerely,
RhiannonMei

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I love writing the twins :) I most definitely do have betas, and I will pass on your kind words *g*

You managed to create one of the most traditional family units I have ever read. I have never witnessed a more integrated family in fiction or reality.

It is a long story and I made sure I got to the end to see if you had anything in mind for Ginny or Draco outside of their relationship with one another, their parents and Ginny's siblings, or their children. I find this story fascinating in that I don't know what the kind of adoration Ginny has from everyone especially when each brother and each grouping has its own anguish and anxiety. It is this very singular focus on one character that I like about fanfiction. It can be joyful and frustrating all at the same time. Would we want this much attention if we could achieve it in our lives?

Keep writing.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. Would we want that much attention? I think most would not; in fact, it would probably send a good many of us screaming into the night ;)

Author's Response: They will be posted here one day, but not quite yet :) If you really want to read them and don't or can't join the Yahoo group, you could dig around my memories section on lj (the link is on my author page), because they're all posted there as well :)

You know what? I just thought that it would be really neat if you made a story about when Angel and Drake are at school. It would be VERY interesting!

Author's Response: I do have a couple, but they're not posted here yet :) You can find them at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/littleyellowduck/.
