 “That is not a pair of scissors,” she whispered fiercely, glaring at him.

I loved that!  Almost as much as this:

“Wait.” She paused. “Is it possible that you’re not a bastard?”

“It’s possible,” he replied.

“Oh.”

“Not probable, though.”
