Ooh, Dumbledore stands up for Draco! Awww. Potential future alliance?

XOXO, JT

Author's Response: They might already be alligned. ;) But that's up to your interpretation for now. Thanks for reviewing! XOXO to you, too!

Thoroughly enjoying this story. I hope you feel inspired enough to write more. I am not sure that I am completely convinced by Hermione; I think that she is a little OCC but, it's your story so I should just read and enjoy it and maybe write the odd review.

Author's Response:

Hermione's difficult for me to write, because sometimes I don't understand the canon version of her myself. But as I like to remind people, I'm not J. K. Rowling by any means, and I'm not perfect, either. I just enjoy writing and am in love with Draco / Tom Felton. :) Actually, I'm a little surprised that only one person to date has said McGonagall could have been more in-character. She's the hardest to write, I think, and when I watch Half-Blood Prince every so often, I have nervous giggle at the difference. Still, Hermione comes in a close second for my "Most Difficult to Recreate" award. ;)

With that said, I really appreciate you leaving a review. Thank you, angelface! I like your penname, by the way.

Wasn't sure how to reply to you, so I'll just write my reply here. I was a bit surprised at how few reviews you have for this story, and I can see how that would be disheartening for you. Hopefully people will start taking the effort to review, as I'm quite certain there are more than enough reading it.

I'm quite relieved to hear you say that Ginny is not in love with Draco and is more just sympathetic right now. I'm not a fan of what I feel are rushed romances, and at this point it would, to me at least, feel rushed to have them already falling for each other in that way.

What you said about Hermione does make sense, and I'm glad you took the time to explain that to me. My only suggestion would be to try weave that into the story somehow, even though you've explained it in the a/n notes. I'm sure you know that the reader can only know as much as you tell him/her, so it's good to settle things like that, if not now, then in later chapters.

Author's Response:

I agree! I love Deliver Me From Evil by ReignOfSlytherin, for instance, but it's way too rushed as far as D/G goes. (It is a very good story, nonetheless, but I don't know if it's on this site... Try looking on FanFiction.net if it's not... I recommend reading it, and her other stories.)

I'm glad my explanation about 13 helped make the story easier to read. I'm trying really hard to make things as realistic as magically possible. ;) I have to admit, though, Draco is a bit shocked that Ginny cares about him at all, and I imagine he'd have a teeny bit of... well, admiration for her, at least. But for Ginny, it's not quite there yet. :)

I hope more people do review soon, too! It makes it more fulfilling to keep writing when people review.

Thanks again, awesome you!

And the truth comes out. Well, I do wonder what McGonagall will have to say next. It seems like it's just one thing after the next for poor Draco and Narcissa.

Author's Response:

Wow! Woah, I love seeing reviews, and this is just the perfect dose of them, if not a bit too many to reply to. But I'll certainly try. It's the least I can do in return, right? :)

I am really thrilled you like my story enough to review it so well! I can't put into words how much that helps me, even when the review isn't positive like most of yours were. I love the honesty, and I won't let your questions go unanswered.

With that said, though, I'm not so sure right now how I'll explain Hermione's awkward-ish line in 13 from within the story, so I'll tell you here and update the Author's Note at the end.

Ginny falling in love with Draco was speculation on Hermione's part, and I'd have to say what Ginny feels for Draco is still mainly sympathy at this point. But I assure you, that will change with time. :)

But Hermione, who thought Ginny really was falling for Draco so quickly, was sort of scolding her (albeit indirectly) for "replacing" Harry in her heart so "easily". Hermione still has a strong dislike for Draco, even though she doesn't hate him enough to let him die.

I hope that helps. :)

Seems like Minerva and Ron have something in common. Poor Draco is certainly having it rough. I would have thought Hermione, who is at least intelligent, would have realised by now that Draco is not the same as he was.

I hope there is a good reason for it. I won't deny that I felt incredibly put off to see Ginny and Draco coming together so quickly. They still have a long way to go before any real romantic ties can be forged.

Quite interesting you had Draco placed as a Ravenclaw. Well, at least it wasn't Gryffindor.

And now they're at the Order. I can't help but feel sorry for Draco. It would be very exhausting to have people constantly suspicious of you.

Well that can't be good. Ron is such an idiot.

Well, this was certainly a very depressing chapter. I'm glad there is a bit of hope at the end.

It's so weird to see Draco as the peacemaker. It's nice, though. I have to admit that I was silently rooting for Narcissa. She may have been a bit harsh, but she certainly had a right to defend her son.

I thought having Draco cry was quite good, actually. It was fitting in this particular scene. I'm glad Arthur softened enough to let Draco and his mother stay.

I'm not sure if I'm totally feeling Draco's character. I understand he's in a difficult situation right now and that he is just a teenage boy, but sometimes he feels a bit too weak. Still, it was funny seeing him get snappy at Ron over the parchment.

Stubborn old Ron, eh? I'm really surprised Draco broke his wand. That's like breaking a part of yourself.

I loved the fact that Narcissa demanded to know what 'burrow'. It's a bit rude of the Weasleys to discuss the Malfoys as if they weren't there. Really, some people need to learn some manners. I'm glad Draco spoke up.

*laughs* Vernon's reactions were classic. It's quite funny the Malfoys went to Harry. I'm curious to see what happens next. Unfortunately, I have to go study for my exam.

Until next time. ^_^

Wow. That's not exactly the nicest birthday present to receive. I do wonder what Nora said, and why Lucius allowed himself to be dictated by her words. Hrm...

I like the fact you still have Draco wonder if he would ever sleep in his bed at the Manor again. It's a realistic thing for a teenager in that situation to think about, even if he did just have a traumatic experience.

I wonder how they'll deal in the Muggle world?

Nice beginning. You caught Draco's vulnerability as a young teenager well. I'm curious to see where this leads.

Hi there!

I'm currently on chapter 7, and plan on reading the rest later, but I really like the direction in which this story is progressing in.

Firstly, I really enjoy the intertwining of narration and the character's inner thoughts in the non-dialogue parts of your chapters. It isn't a first person story persay, but it still manages to give the readers a little insight on the thoughts of the characters.

Moreover, your writing is very fluid and not choppy at all. Occasionally, there are some dialogue lines that seem unrealistic (meaning, I can't imagine anyone actually saying them), but they really WORK with the style of your story. I had an example, but now I lost it lol :P Just know that it works and I love it ;) :)

Once I read the rest of the chapters, I'll make sure to review again. And reading your story motivates me to finish my next chapter, so thanks for that as well :D

Imaiya

P.S Sorry I didn't reply to your question about my username in my response to the review you left (which again, was extremely sweet

I'm really enjoying this story :) its strange how similar our current stories are (mine's The Thorn and his Rose), but I can see we're taking different approaches. Can't wait for more.

P.S i understand how frustrating it is to not receive enough constructive reviews, but I'll make sure to leave one when I can :)

Author's Response:

I really appreciate that! Thank you! I'll try to read your story ASAP, too. The title is very creative. I'll review it as soon as I've read some. :D Can't wait!

I like your pen name, by the way. Did you make it up, or is it an actual name you've heard before? It's really cool.

Hey i realized not many people have left comments and i wanted to let you know i am reading your story and enjoying it.

Author's Response:

Thank you! It means so much that you took notice of that, and took a moment to review By Firelight! I'm running very low on reviews from the past few months, and it's great to hear that I'm still giving readers something worthwhile to read. :)

Thank you again, and keep enjoying the story!
