Reviews For The Disappearance

All right, I could have guessed that the disappearances are connected with Draco and Ginny getting closer. Only i still don't understand why.

So right now they are on the King's Cross from their dreams which is obviously the King's Cross that Harry got to after Voldy cast Avada on him. I don't really remember how this episode is done in the film. Is it much different from the book? In the book the choise to move on was a choise to die, i.emove on to an afterlife. But I'm not sure it's this way in your story.

oh, and the NC-17 part was incredibly short for Anise's story...

Author's Response: I can't tell you what this means, of course... ;) But the DH film version basically was the book. I don't remember anything particularly different about it. I know; that has to be one of the shortest NC-17 sections I've ever written. But I felt that this fic was more firmly in the mystery genre than probably anything else I've ever written, too. More soon. :)

I don't think I had seen that getting closer was causing the world to fall down. I really..., I was so focused on the mystery that I missed that. I knew it had something to do with Draco and Ginny but the specifics, yep, I missed it. I was just thinking that Draco thinking about Ginny had somehow a link with the disappearance but I hadn't noticed that it was more than that, that it was somehow an emotional link between them that was causing the vanishing of people and the wizarding world.

Congratulations because that doesn't happen a lot with me, when I read fics. But hey, I'm just human, lol.

Now, Harry? Harry Potter in the end? I sooooo didn't expect that. I truly believed that it would be Voldemort, because of Draco's mark hurting him. So why is his mark reacting? Are Ginny and Draco getting closer to the real world, where Voldemort is alive?

And Harry? Does this happen when he was in this coma/dead world after fighting with Voldemort in the last book?

Still, if it's that, why Draco and Ginny? I doubt Harry would want them together in this dream world. Mysteries, more mysteries, always more mysteries!

By the way, that was a cruel and unusual punishment to stop here. So for my sanity, please update soon.

I don't know! This is trippy! And and alkdhgfhs So maybe in the world they know they're somehow dead-ish and this is their consciousness wondering into other realities trying to get back to the one they 'belong' in? Harry is their Dumbledore :)) The unreal world falls apart when they get closer but maybe the opposite happens for the real one? I like it :))

Harry..i wonder how Ginny almost know what will happen...it is like Harry dies in DH and then comes back.. Only he did see family and friends that have died, and DG see ppl that they are connected with. All have been so far Ginny's friends, so it must be her dream...

Author's Response: Some very good thoughts there. We'll find out soon exactly what the truth is!

I'd noticed 3 chapters of KCDT went missing.

Anyways, no damn clue what's going on here, however I can't help but hope in a tiny part that I get to have sex and save the world in one day am I right? ;) Great read as always Anise!
STT

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes... I'm working on KC, and I've decided that it'll get updated and finished and posted at some point in the next months. It really is the genesis of *Death Train*, but it's very different, too, especially when it comes to some of Draco's motivations, and I think it'll help me clarify where some things need to be in DT. And YES! You get to have sex and save the world in a 48-hour period. You have the official Anise Stamp of Approval. True, it's good only in the 64th dimension, but still. ;)

Probably one of my favorite fanfictions ever read. The concept is actually rather horrifying and deliciously delightful. Good luck on NaNo! I'm a Resident Advisor at my University and got several people in my hall to participate this year, we're very excited! And I can't wait to see more from this wonderful concoction. :)

Author's Response: Thank you, thank you! :) (runs around doing the Happy Fic Was Praised dance.) We (Portland, OR) just had our NaNo kickoff party yesterday-- HUGE. The room was probably beyond maximum fire-marshal capacity. And remember that if you're on the forum boards, I'm RealAnise.

Wow!
With each new revealed information only more questions rise!

it appears that Draco and Ginny do not remember certain aspects of their life, but they do remember what everyone else is forgetting (like noone remembers the names of people who disappear).

Also, if the disappearances have something to do with making a choice then Ron and Ginny sort of made one because they almost disappeared. On the other hand Draco was able to pull them back.

My brain refuses to cooperate on this. So I'll just wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Okay, here's a clue... it's not exactly that Draco and Ginny forgot what actually happened to them (their shared past together.) In the reality they knew, they did not have any kind of a past (except for Draco noticing and thinking about Ginny at Hogwarts much more than he ever admitted to himself, and maybe vice versa.;) Answers are starting to arrive in the next chapter, but for now, all I'll say is that I originally started writing this fic right after seeing the DHII film. (CLUE CLUE HINT HINT HINT.) Oh, and the next chapter will be the NC-17 one.

More and more mysterious. Ron, as I thought, played his role and gave information. I suspect he will disappear but so far, we learn that in this reality, Draco and Ginny... had something and that Ginny can disappear, just like the others, only Draco prevented it.

We also learn that it STARTED with Ginny. At least I think. Right when she was about to have sex with Harry. So something happened to stop that. Something or someone? I don't think it's a coincidence that the first disappearance, Harry's, took place with Ginny and while they were about to have sex for the first time.

I'm sure there's a link but... which one? Was Draco in love with Ginny in the true reality and cursed her so that she didn't have sex with Harry? leading to her being stuck in this coma world?

Author's Response: Yep, it did start with Ginny. And maybe it WASN'T a coincidence. ;) Great theories, but again, not quite... nobody has guessed it. Although there have been clues laid. So we'll see, and more soon!

My brain hurts. This + data notes = one hell of a mental soup. As usual, eager for more. (I'm thinking there's 2 timelines and one is merging with the other.)

STT

Author's Response: Thanks! (What are data notes? Or maybe it's a big secret, and if you tell me, then I'll disappear too.;) Anyway.... mmm..... good theory, but not EXACTLY. More soon...

Anise! I loooove this story! It's absolutely intriguing. I don't have a lot of time at the moment, and I am writing this on my cell, so this review sucks. I promise to give more in depth ones for future chapters ;).

Author's Response: Thanks! The most intriguing part is yet to come... ;)

Oh Anise, how I have missed your stories! So glad to have you back dear. But anyway, KILLING me with these damn cliffhangers! You know for Harry's sake, I reeeally hope he's not up there. Since I'm more than certain Draco would hex his balls off. lol
More please!!

Author's Response: Thank you! (The Happy Dance ensues.) I know, I know; but there are more cliffhangers coming up... here's a parachute...

Oh, one more thing - just as Dumbledore told Harry in HP (paraphrase, because I can't be arsed to look it up): of course it's happening in your mind, but that doesn't mean it's not real.

Author's Response: I always loved that line. :) Of course, I think that means that Harry imagined the prologue, and Draco and Ginny actually ended up together. ;)

First off - love, love, love this story, and your writing!

I have so many thoughts about what the heck is happening...

The King's Cross dream - as for Harry in DH, where one is presented with, and makes, a choice about the direction of one's life. Only for these 3 (Draco, Ginny, Harry), it's one's love life? But if it is like DH, are they near-death, or in limbo between life and death?

And it's been years since I saw the movie, so I could be mis-remembering it on an epic scale, but to me this story feels kind of like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Perhaps one, or all, of their minds is rebelling against an obliviate spell, cast to forget a relationship gone wrong?

Can't wait to see where you take us with this!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! :) I won't say that your guesses are exactly RIGHT... nobody's got it right yet. But I like them anyway. Much more to come...

Another amazing story -- & I love that the fog plays such a "villainous" role in this story. kinda reminds me of that horror movie (The Mist, right?).

Also, it seems that there is some romantic history between the 2 of them that the previous chapters didn't clearly indicate... w/c clearly means you've got a few plot tricks up your sleeve yet again... & as much as you love Nick & the Crystal Palace, I'm hoping they'd skip this one out.

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I wouldn't really say that Draco and Ginny exactly have a romantic history here as such... it's more that he really did notice her and think about her back at Hogwarts, although he'd never admit it at this point. And that's all I will say right now. ;)

So Draco and Ginny have history together, or is me reading into it? I have a theory that this is a time whirlpool and Luna and others have been sucked into it, and moved to parallel universe.

Author's Response: I don't think it's exactly that they have a history *together.* But he thought about her at Hogwarts much more than he would ever admit at this point in the story. She's been taking up space in his head for a long time. More soon... :)

I quite like the characterization of Draco you have in this story. It's nice to read a Draco who's not all ice and completely in control, which I think is a closer to canon take on him given what his family went through with Voldemort and the war.

I was slightly thrown off again by the scene change (between Ginny asking to stay the night and Draco not being able to fall asleep) - maybe put in a break (like an extra line of space)? I've read this style of writing before and it's great for cutting out unnecessary exposition, and they usually utilize extra space or some other signal that helps the reader to immediately jump to the next scene.

I especially liked how you described Lucius's suicide as "a double-edged sword that slit through the fabric of all their lives." It was nice and vivid and a fitting metaphor. And I'm quite intrigued about what Harry has to do with all of this as I don't think that's the last we'll hear of him.

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, in some ways I do think that this is a more canon Draco. His mother was his greatest source of support, so losing her was very difficult for him. Dang, I'm still working on those transitions. Always trying to avoid the attack of the Dreaded Infodump of Doom. ;) ?And no, we haven't heard the last of Harry at all... hmm... I wonder if we might even SEE him at some point...

Curiouser and curiouser! I loved Draco and Ginny's interaction in this chapter. You write their dialogue so well. It just flows. "There’s no statute of limitations on Bat-Bogey hexes" was probably one of my favorite lines. That and the statement at the end - "It was that she felt like the only solid thing remaining in a shifting world of mists."

Author's Response: Thanks! Yep, things are about to get curiouser yet...

That'd be crazy awkward. I can't wait to see how this plays out for him.

STT

Author's Response: It's awkward for sure, but I don't think anyone expects to learn the news that Ron has to share. (Nobody who's leaving reviews, anyway! ;)

You know, I get this feeling that characters pop in and pop out to tell something important to either Draco or Ginny or both of them. For example, Luna showed up, they talk and she suggests looking for Harry, which is the plan. Then she disappears. She has accomplished what she had come for, put Draco and Ginny on Harry's track. Ginny trusts Luna, after all so if Luna suggests that, she would agree and that's what she did.

Now, it's Ron who appears out of the fog. Why? I'm sure there's a plan for those mysterious appearances/disappearances and that the characters are like puppets.

The question is, who's the master playing the puppets? And why? Is the goal to get Harry? Using Ginny could make sense, but why Draco, then? Hermione and Ron would be better in that scenario.

Apart from that, that fog has something scary. I definitely get a Langolier vibe, with this world and people disappearing. And that's scary.

Author's Response: That could be... yep, you absolutely could be right. I think you're kind of circling round the answer-- you've gotten closer than anyone else. Nobody's guessed what's really going on, but I think that when it's revealed, it'll be one of those "YES! I GET IT!" Zen moments. :)

Ha, here's Ron to ruin Draco's idillic time with Ginny... Though of course he could disappear at any moment.

I suppose Harry could know what's going on or perhaps he is the one orhestrating the whole thing.

I'm waiting for what's next!

Author's Response: Well, Ron has some important things to say... and there's LOTS to learn about Harry. Some of it is coming up really soon. :)

I am 100% involved in the story and was surprised to find myself at the end of this chapter. What makes Luna's situation any different than the other disappearances? Did Ginny go to Katie Bell's apartment or is it as though she just ceased to exist. I cannot help but feel the inamins are going to play a role somehow in solving the mystery.

Author's Response: Thanks! :) With Luna, a couple of things are going on: first of all, Ginny specifically searched for her, and both Ginny and Draco's choices are going to be very important as far as what ends up happening in this fic. But Luna also was motivated to not disappear because she wanted to find Ginny, which nobody else had been. As far as everyone else in the wizarding world knows, the people who vanish never existed in the first place. (There was an episode of Star Trek TNG where something similar happened... but not for the same reasons at all.)

I'm so glad that poor Draco is not going crazy. I didn't want to believe it. This story is intriguing...I really like it thus far.

Author's Response: I'm glad too. ;) Poor Draco indeed-- after both parents dying a few months ago, he doesn't need that.
Name: ladyro7 reviewed Chapter 1 on Oct 17, 2012 11:29 am
Is this part of the DDD Aniseverse or parallel with similar elements?

Author's Response: I would say that it's a parallel with similar elements. TD!Draco and DDD!Draco both barely escaped losing everything to the Wizengamot after the war, but this Draco reacted differently, largely because both his mother and father died within two months of it happening (and he didn't have a number of things in his background that DDD!Draco does, such as the Marie Tessier disaster and his entanglement with Astoria.) BTW, *Shadow of a Dangerous Dilemma*, the shortandcomplete!DDD version, will be starting fairly soon. ;)
