Great plot! I really like these distopic realities fics. Hope to see an update soon!

I was so excited to this updated, and I was more than pleased with the interesting turn events. Now what Ginny said earlier about Draco not being happy from the pleasure he'd receive from her makes perfect sense. It also makes sense why she'd continue with this profession, since she doesn't remember anything.

I am curious why she doesn't remember her past relationship with Draco. What happened there? Or was that imagined relationship on Draco's part? So many questions, and I can't wait for them to be answered - and for Ginny to remember shagging Draco, if/when they do that in the near future. ;)

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Oh, the D/G relationship happened, all right... and we'll find out a lot more about it soon. Some interesting things are coming up in the next chapter, for sure. If you ever wondered what happened to certain characters... we may just find out. ;)

Hope Ginny does regain her memory!! Is they just lay in bed together, could her memory return that way, too?

Author's Response: Hmmm... (looks in crystal ball) (nothing to see except the "$3.99 at Walmart sticker) I think that's very possible. ;) You may be on to something.

Trust being established this early on in an Anise story? I'm shocked -- and thrilled!

Author's Response: Thanks! :) This is one of those fics, I think, where trust between Draco and Ginny isn't the biggest issue-- although I can't promise that they won't have some problems in that area later on. More coming soon! :)

Ooo, you're gonna make Draco the hero!

Author's Response: Yes... kind of. I would say that he basically is, although to be fair to Harry, he really made an attempt in this fic.

Did you choose Portland because of "Grimm"?

Author's Response: Actually, no. It's because I live here. :) Setting is very important in this fic, and I don't think I could write about a place I don't know well. BUT... there's also a reason why this is set in Portland, and we'll find out what it is....

So different - but so good. I've been reading a lot of crappy books lately and didn't even realize how crappy until I picked up "The Casual Vacancy" at the library - and it was like a breath of fresh air. As is this!

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Yes, this is different, all right... but it's the kind of fic that I knew I would have to write if I was going to come back to D/G.

This was quite the tease of the chapter, but through this - Draco giving Ginny the money without anything in return, telling her he'd make certain pledges if they were still permissible - he has now built a trust with Ginny. So I very much appreciated that.

I'm very curious as to why Ginny doesn't remember. Perhaps a certain sort of memory charm has been placed on her or she's unaware of the old magic she is using.

There's an almost surreal quality to this fic at times, which makes me think this could be a drug-induced hallucination or dream on Draco's part - the end of the war, the loss of magic, Muggles finding out - or maybe it's just all one big curse. Whatever the case, I'm constantly guessing and to have that quality of writing that inspires such internal debate is a wonderful gift. :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much! :) No, it's real... well, in a fictional way... although if all possible realities really do exist in separate quantum universes, then that means the TD world actually IS real somewhere. (Looks on Travelocity for possible flights there) We're going to find out a lot more very soon-- and I haven't forgotten about Blaise et al. ;)

So why doesn't she remember? Magic?
I feel like the whole story is dancing the edge and knowing your writing style, we will be there for a while:)) if only you can finish jewel:)) like i did not whine about that enough to drive you crazy:)

Author's Response: Snerk! :) But this won't be one of those infinite-length stories, believe me. There's a very specific plot arc. And I can't believe you remember JotH! (The Happy Dance.) That means a lot. If it'll ever get finished, though... um... I don't know, sometimes I HAVE thought about a shorter fic based on the part that JotH that never got to, which was Ginny in the harem of Istanbul. You never know...

I had another idea.
Maybe Ginny somehow creates an illusion of sex with everyone only she is not exactly aware of it and then the man feels as if he was satisfied by her, and she doesn't really remember what happens. See, my crazy ideas stream hasn't dried up yet...

Author's Response: Crazy ideas are good! All questions will eventually be answered... ;)

Well, there's one very serious mishap with this chapter. It's too short for me. And you are a big tease! We haven't found out why Draco got his magic back and I actually hoped we would.

And I didn't quite understand what Ginny said about forgetting everything happening while she is working. Is it psychological? What exactly doesn't she remember?

Also, it looks like not only their relationship ended badly, but they had issues during that relationship as well, like trust issues. On Ginny's part at least. Or is it post war? Also, she is very adamant to remind him all the time what she does now. She expects him not to want anything to do with her because of that, I suppose. And she is used to this life where men only want services from her and perhaps she doesn't have women friends , so she is naturally suspicious and not understanding as to what Draco might want from her if not sex. I wonder what happened to Luna? But it could also be that she mentions her occupation all the time because she wants Draco, well, maybe not to be jealous per se, but rather to show some kind of an emotional reaction. Because she also repeatedly ascertains that he enjoyed what she did to him the previous night. Of course this is also because she doesn't remember, but still she does it too many times.

Yet, she agrees to see him again. Comraderie? Or hopefully feelings she still has for him? Or simply because he doesn't ask her to meet him for her body. So many questions!!!

I hope for an update soon and thank you so much for this new chapter!!

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, it WAS kind of short... but there's more coming up soon. Basically, Ginny doesn't remember any of the work she does. At all. And it's not just psychological... we'll find out why. The D/G relationship before the war was something that absolutely nobody they knew would have approved of at all, and the necessity of keeping it hidden really took its toll on both of them. But we'll find out a lot more about it soon!

Draco writing to Narcissa is downright depressing with its meaning and the realism of it. But what really spoke to me in this chapter was the conversation (of pity) with Draco and the well-meaning liberals in the back of his cab. I just want to copy and paste it all and write, 'Truths'. Because it is and because even though they do mean well, truly mean well, they are the worst. Someone like Draco would rather be taunted than pitied.

It's this commentary spliced throughout that I truly enjoy for not only does it give the reader more insight into Draco's character and his new surroundings but it gives you, the writer, such a distinct voice. Don't ask me why, exactly, but an author with a distinct and intelligent voice in any sort of literature these days is refreshing.

Of course the interaction between Draco and Ginny at the end tends to pose more questions than answer, but that only intrigues me more. I have a feeling that Ginny is in possession of something that allows her to grant magic to others. Could explain why she's such an expensive call girl.

As usual, a great chapter and I look forward to reading what you'll have posted next. :)

Author's Response: You always write the GREATEST reviews!! (Does Happy Great Reviewer Dance. :) So, where would "Truths" end up? I could see it on a t-shirt. ;) And thank you SO much... I'm really glad that what I'm doing is working here... I just knew that if I seriously came back to D/G, this was how it had to be. It all came from canon originally, of course, but it just isn't going to be very canon-esque anymore (well, not that Anisefics ever really were that way to any impressive degree. ;) And you know, you're not the first person to have that idea about Ginny... in a way, it really is true, and that's all I'll say. But it's not in a straightforward way, and it has a lot to do with how and why the magical world ended up as it did. More soon!! :)

I really, REALLY, REALLYYYY hope that the next chapter will be up soon, because I really want to know what it was that Ginny did (obviously). She really doesn't want to tell him, so I hope it's because she actually did do something that to her at least meant that it wasn't just another client, that he is still special to her and now she is reluctant to admit still having feelings for him. Probably she is sure that he has none for her. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but I really hope the real Ginny is still there underneath the not so appealing exterior.

Also, I loved how Draco writes letters to his deceased mother and I also really love how you describe Draco's emotional state, for ex. where he muses that he doesn't want to see her and then: "He longs to stop the wanting itself. But that, too, is a species of desire." - he'd rather stay in his unfeeling state but Ginny makes it impossible for him to do so.

And I'm intrigued by the Elemental magic you brought in at this point, and how it was that Ginny awakened Draco's magic somehow.

So I really really want to know what Ginny tells him and how things continue from there. And I liked how Draco seemed to floor Ginny by repeatedly telling her that he only wants to talk. She is so sure he wants her only for sex.

Thank you again for the wonderful peace of prose.

And I wait for ch.2 of the other prose too...

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Ginny really has some secrets here, and a BIG one is revealed in Ch. 6. Everything is definitely not what it seems, and there's also a lot that Draco doesn't know... yet. But there will be more soon! (And Part 2 of Rose Garden is up on FB. :)

OMG, I loved it!

Please, please upload the next chapter fast! I wanna know what's going on and why, WHY ON EARTH Harry told everything to the press.

XOXO

Sophie.

Author's Response: Thanks! :) The next chapter is coming pretty soon. Actually, Harry's motivations aren't quite as mysterious as those of most of the other characters here. He honestly thought that he was doing the right thing by revealing what he'd found out about Lucius Malfoy's plans, and that it was the only way to stop what was going to happen. That's not exactly the whole story either, but the real problem was that he didn't know how he was being used... or who was really responsible. More soon... ;)

I've never seen the Taxi Driver, but this is absolutely riveting!! I'm dying to know what happened between them that would make Ginny so terrified. Would I be able to get spoilers if I saw the movie?

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Spoilers from seeing the movie... let me think... The fic doesn't really follow TD-- it's more that it's inspired by it in some ways. There are some similarities for sure, especially with the plotline involving the politician. But I don't think that Ginny's secret would be given away. Anyway, more soon!

Your Ginny is so jaded, and it's almost heartbreaking to see. I actually felt badly for Draco in this chapter, like he had no idea what was going to happen. It seems like he genuinely cares about her, but I think she's so into her lifestyle that she can't recognize that he does. It's very sad. I can't wait for more! :)

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I agree that the situation is pretty sad right now, but remember... we're only seeing Draco's POV, and he definitely can be an unreliable narrator. ;) Ginny's side of things would look very different if she could speak up, but then we'd know too much.... and we're not going to find out everything right away! Something about the smut scene is so chilling. It tells a lot about Ginny's current condition in so little words and - ahem - actions. You see a bit into her mentality, what the banishment of magic has placed her through, and yet you're left with so many questions you cannot help but want to know more. Unlike your other Ginnys, I see that this one was more straight-forward and willing to touch Draco. It makes me wonder if that makes her more pained than the previous versions where there was always a slight hesitation and fright in the presence of Draco.

And poor Draco, how helpless he had became in her hands. It was delicious and yet, so sad. He awakened and came to life just like that, only to be left with curiosity and a tie that will draw him even more towards the truth about Ginny. I have a feeling someone is in trouuuuubllllle. . . !

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I really see that chilling quality too. I love that you get the distinction-- her hesitation and nervousness were a part of this Ginny's reactions to Draco in the past, but a whole lot has changed since the end of the war. Poor Draco indeed, but now that he's starting to wake up, he has a new purpose in life for the first time in years. And he won't let Ginny get away. ;)

*flails* Sorry, I had to do it. It's the first real DG interaction as of yet and it doesn't disappoint! I'm so glad you're keeping the atmosphere dark and the characters pessimistic, except for maybe Draco, who's trying to hard to be an emotionless brick wall. He's failing, though. Poor lad. :/

Absolutely loved the fellatio scene. Well-written and handled tasteful. It's a big tease is what it is, but I love teases. It'll make the ending, when they get together (obvs!) all the more satisfying.

Once again your prose is delicious. Nothing is embellished or flowery yet I'm far from description-starved. It's just the perfect amount, as always.

Your characterisation for Ginny - what she's gone through - is fitting, although I really want to know what happened to her and what the 'deal' between her and Draco is. However, more than anything, more than the mystery and the suspense, my enjoyment is found in reading Draco's development and potential metamorphosis. He's thoroughly engaging as a character alone, not just as a fanfiction interpretation of him - and that says a lot towards your skill as a writer.

As always, I loved it and can't wait to read more. :D

Author's Response: Thanks! :) (And why does flailing make me think of Kermit... actually, it's just too convoluted to explain. But the CakeWrecks site is involved. I really recommend it. Very funny. :) Anyway. Thanks for the wonderful review!! As always, you're very perceptive. There's so much that Ginny is keeping from Draco, but he's being far from entirely honest either at this point, even-- or perhaps especially-- with himself. And here's a LITTLE hint... they do eventually get together in another smut scene... probably not a big surprise... but there's also a flashback to their most important smut from the past. More to come soon! :)

I wanted to add that I found it touching how Draco thought of Ginny's knees hurting on his hard floor. Also, I really want to know what Ginny was thinking during all this. We only know the front she put in front of Draco.

Oh, dear!

This is awful! Even though this was obvious from the beginning, this chapter was what really brought home to me just in how bad a situation they all are. It's crushing to see Ginny as a shell of her former self. Is her family dead? I actually felt bad for Draco when reading about what transpired in his flat. And I actually wanted him to say no. I wonder if Ginny believes he only wanted her for sex back when they were in a relationship. Of course, it could be that she is very hurt by him and the sympathy I feel is mostly because it's Draco's point of view.

Still, I hope Ginny will warm up some to him when they next meet.

Thank you for this new chapter!

Author's Response: Well, the situation isn't good. I won't say that Ginny's entire family is dead, but yes, a lot of them are. And we'll find out more about what's really going on with Draco and Ginny very soon... ;) It's true that with his POV we get a skewed understanding of the whole situation, but by the end, I think it'll become clearer that we couldn't know everything Ginny knows. Not that she knows everything either. More soon...
