I made it to this chapter before I noped out. You're a good writer, but your stories are so full of tragedy and infidelity and various other negativities that it turns the stomach. Trawling for that one happy ending where they don't die and don't sleep around with other people or don't go insane or ect. is like looking for the diamond in the rough.

It's like millions of words of NTR tragedy. Well written and very artistic, but depressing in larger doses.

Wow...

I hope there is a sequel...

Author's Response: Actually, KC-- if you've read that one-- is going to be getting some major revisions and a reposting, and one of the differences will be that IT'S the sequel to TBBC. :)

This story was simply incredible. I started reading it with the intention of breaking it into pieces, but once I'd begun, I couldn't stop. I ended up going to bed rather late, but I don't at all regret it, because this story was incredible.

Perfectly plotted, incredibly well written and very, very addictive.

The scene in the luggage compartment was amazing. I continue to be impressed by it, actually, because in the hands of a lesser writer it would have come off as awkward, stilted and forced. But not with you. It was beautifully written and incredibly touching. (Sorry about the pun. =P)

On a whole, though, this was simply amazing. I maintain that this has to be some of the best work I've read, online and in real books. Pretty much, you're an amazing writer.

I'm going to read Heavenly Creatures as well, because I simply must know what happens. I mourn the fact that it's not completed, and probably never will be, but I still have to read it, even if I end up going mad with not knowing how it ends, it'd be worse if I didn't read it, knowing it was there.

I'll just say it again, this was incredible.

Author's Response: Thank you thank you thank you!! :) Actually, I was pondering an idea the other day... there was a very specific and SHORT plotline that I originally had thought about giving KCOtDT, and what did happen obviously ran away with me completely. (While I do like a lot of the places where it went, it got very out of hand, and that was actually the impetus for writing so much of the content of DDD before I posted it. DDD will end up being every bit as long as KC, but it WILL follow a coherent plotline, and it WILL get finished.) My point (and like Ellen, I do have one), is that *Man In Black*, the planned 3rd fic in the BB and HC trilogy, was supposed to basically have the KC short-version plotline. So I was thinking about redoing HC as a short fic and then writing MiB as a VERY short one (well, for me). In that case, it's not impossible that everything could get done. :)

And now I am at the end. I loved reading this again. I remembered what happened, of course, but I had forgotten all the finer details, and it's those that really matter, I think. In any case, this was a brilliant story. So much depth, and I really got a strong connection for all the characters, not just Ginny and Draco. I look forward to reading the sequel.

Such an intense chapter. I'm feeling extra emotional today, so it was certainly a rollercoaster for me. Really, I should hate you for writing emotion so well. You make it so easy to relate to the characters, which does make the 'do not cry' rule hard to keep.

I found Ron's confession at the end one of the most bitter and touching moments in this chapter. The books portray the characters as so black and white -- you're evil or you're not. And while Ron gets his few faults (jealousy, etc), JKR never really questions the true depth of how far he or the other characters could go. I really felt for Ron when he realised he could actually take that step -- to end a life. One of the most disturbing facts about life is not that you can be terrified of other people, but that you can be frightened of yourself -- of what you have the potential to do. You captured that beautifully. It's a sad, bitter part of life, and I really admire your writing for being able to show not just the surface of the characters, but all the psychological and emotional storms happening underneath.

The interactions between Draco and Ginny were brilliant in this chapter. So much intensity and emotion.

I remember the apple scene. That one always made me smile, more for the symbolism of it, I have to admit.

Great chapter, as usual. I really shouldn't be surprised that everything I read from you is brilliant.

Ahhh, I have read this before. I knew I had. Well, it doesn't matter. I'm quite happy to refresh my memory again. I remember enjoying this story very much.

I read this for the first time on a different site (I don't even remember which one anymore) several years ago, and I've read it quite a few (at least five) times since then.

There are several pieces of literature that have informed my writing style. The Virgin Suicides, Disgrace, The Poisonwood Bible... The Bat Bogeys Cometh. Really. Really really.

I've always suspected you must be a Booker prize recipient or something in "real life". You blow off steam by writing Draco-Ginny fiction in between various deep literary successes that get favorable review from The New Yorker.

None of that is likely to be the case, but there's something subtle about your writing that suggests it. There are many pieces of writing that seem somehow to be less than the whole of their parts, whereas your writing comes off as many times the whole of its parts. The character interactions are subtle, minuscule reflections of the earthquakes surrounding them. I've very rarely seen someone write the tearing of a soul in a precise, even unmemorable moment, but that is what you write. You turn moments into eternities and eternities into moments. You reflect the truth of the way we are all formed by single, innocuous instances.

Thank you.

AHH! Oh dear, I think you mentioned a sequel for this! *sprints to your page* All I want to do right now is 1) read the sequel, and 2) FLAIL FROM THE AWESOME!

AHH! Your Malfoy is the best Malfoy I've ever read! Though, I couldn't help but notice, toward the end, you called the forest floor "snowy", and it's June...
Other than that, you're honestly my favorite author on here. ^^

This chapter, combined with this song, brought me to tears. It's so beautiful and melancholy. I especially love Ron, and the complexity of your characters. Bravo!

wow. i really hate this story. no offense to the writer, but it was so dark and sad...although i really liked the brother-sister relationship between ron and ginny. where did you get the idea for the whole thing? draco had so many different sides to him, it was almost hard to keep track. and tell me, please, where did ginny meet draco again?

It breaks my heart every time I read it. Every time, I hope that he'll make a differnet choice - be like Millicent and just stay -- but he doesn't and every time I cry.

SUCH a good read. Really grand.

Wow, pretty intense, but I liked it. It was an interesting pov from the 5 book, and I liked the part with Snape. Good story.

Lovely. Fantastic...I love your imagined worlds, don't get me wrong but you are able to include canon with the same aplomb. I love snarky, protective Ron and bossy big-sister minded Herm. I love fuckedup!Harry. You are Queen of the D/G fanfic, Anise, you should be proud =o). You always manage to keep Draco in character, and you portray the achy, angsty, raw sort of bond Ginny and Draco share with a way that leaves me breathless. In short, you rule. Teehee.

Gah! Can't wait to read the sequels. Very good. Angsty, sad, but very well-written and well-characterized. I enjoyed the Ginny-Snape confession scene. And despite the foreshadowing, I'm hoping for a happy ending. Hoping for too much, perhaps, but I very much enjoyed this story nonetheless.

Really enjoying the story so far. Noticed that you repeated yourself at the beginning of this chapter. First part of the first paragraph about Ginny's musings about the end of the DA was in the first chapter too. Looking forward to the rest.
