Description: A halfgiant! At 3.5m tall, and just as wide, with his great shaggy dark beard, eyebrows and hair, he can be a very imposing sight! However, his kindly demeanour shines through and it is soon apparent what kind of person he is. He wears a heavy leather apron, and is festooned with various tools, and one rather odd, small pink umbrella. He has a ruddy complexion, and a thick west country accent.
Psychology and Personality
Slightly gruff at times, but generally loud and brash, in a friendly manner. Hagrid does not always behave appropriately and will speak his mind, and show his feelings quite plainly (wears his heart on his sleeve).

Strengths and Weaknesses: A very honest individual, resourceful and adventurous, Hagrid is loyal to a fault and honourable. However, Hagrid may also be easily duped, is a terrible liar and cannot hide his emotions.
Likes\Dislikes: Likes: Animals/magical creatures, food, alcoholic beverages, adventuring/travelling. Dislikes: Broomsticks, small furniture, Goblins.
Lifestyle
Lives in a hut on the edge of the forbidden forest, within the school grounds. Has all his needs met by his own hunting, growing and craft. Essentially, he is a huntsman cum gamekeeper, and teaches occasionally on the side. He is sometimes hard to track down.

History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time: Hagrid was raised by his father after his mother left. He was a student at Hogwarts but expelled in his third year after the incident involving the Chamber of Secrets. Following said expulsion, his wand was destroyed by the Ministry of Magic. Albus Dumbledore employed Hagrid as gamekeeper for the school grounds. Hagrid surreptitiously repaired his wand and integrated it into a pink umbrella to disguise it.
Hagrid rescued Harry Potter from the wreck of his parents house (destroyed by Voldemort), and was later given the task of locating Harry as Vernon Dursley became ever more evasive. Hagrid eased Harry (as much as was possible) into the magical world.
Hagrid spent some time in Azkaban when the Chamber of Secrets was reopened, because of his prior connection. He was later exonerated of all charges, after he helped Harry and co. uncover the real culprit.
Hagrid took over the role of Care of Magical Creatures Teacher (though he is not a school teacher). He had a romantic interlude with Madame Maxime, and set out with her as an envoy to the giants, in order to counter Voldemort’s own efforts.
Hagrid was unfortunately unsuccessful in his role as envoy, though he did succeed in locating his brother Grawp (a full, if stunted, giant) with whom he returned, hiding Grawp in the forbidden forest.
Hagrid has continued in his dual role as gamekeeper and teacher, turning down the role of full time teacher when it was offered, as he does not want to cause further friction with the ministry of magic, he is, however, treated as such by the other teachers.
His relationship with the Centaurs has become more strained unfortunately, partly due to a contest of territory with Grawp living in the forest, and partly due to Hagrid’s refusal to accept criticism of Firenze as a teacher. Hagrid has had a difficult time controlling the spiders in the forest, luckily however, the population has stabilised and generally dwells in the natural valleys of the forest. The centaurs conduct regular culls along the edges of these territories to keep it this way, much to Hagrid’s dismay.
Hagrid has maintained a long distance relationship with Madame Maxime, with both issuing the firm promise that, once they retire from teaching, they will elope and marry, although the exact location of such a venture is a constant point of discussion.
Hagrid has extended his vegetable garden and works with Professor Sprout to provide his classes with fresh vegetables which they must learn to peel, slice and cook as part of an appreciation of their magical abilities.
