No Illusions

'I'm not my father,' the boy said,
'With his cold-hearted illusions,
I've none of his grand delusions.'
Then, he quietly bowed his head.

'He's filled my life with hate and dread,
my mother's life he's made a hell.
To the Devil with him as well!'
With these words the young boy shivered –
icy gaze, but lips that quivered.
'How this will end, no one can tell.

~*~

I swore that I would make him pay,
For every evil thing he did,'
sighed the blonde boy – still just a kid.
'I know there has to be a way.

Yes, revenge will be mine someday,
and I can start to make amends,
then, maybe I'll have some real friends.
I want to start a brand new life,
and make the red-haired girl my wife.
I'll just be glad when his life ends.

~*~

We'd be so happy – she and I.
He wants her for some evil plan.
I really do despise that man!
So while he breathes, we dare not try.

It worries me to see her cry,
yet, she's brave enough for her part.
I just wish I knew where to start!
Well, follow him – I never will!
I will not let him make me kill!
No cold illusions in my heart.'
