He Watched Her Walk by Nita G Isenhour
Author's Notes:
This is a Glosa. A poetic form where you use four lines of another's work and each of the four lines becomes the final line of your own four 10-line stanzas. I borrowed the first lines from Lord George Gordon Byron's work She Walks in Beauty.
He Watched Her Walk (Glosa)

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes

Lord George Gordon Byron

He knew but could not say her name
Their lives too different to be friends
The past would never let them go
Yet, still what future could they have
His fam’ly vowed they’d stay apart
He’d not give up without a fight
Her fam’ly too thought they were wrong
He longed to make the girl his own
So long he’d watched in dark and light
She walks in beauty, like the night

Her copper curls and freckled nose
Had caught his eye when first they met
He was not nice – he teased her so
But flowers grow, his love did too
If she but smiled his world would flip
While gazing in her lovely eyes
He then understood she loved him
A haunted look he also saw
Could not forget although he tries
Of cloudless climes and starry skies

She walked ‘neath starry skies so clear
Stars’ radiance faded in her wake
The clouds before her beauty fled
While creatures of the night gave way
Again in dark and light he watched
And as he watched it felt so right
That he should see her in this vein
By day or night she looked divine
He longed to keep her in his sight
And all that’s best of dark and bright

While in the night he watched her walk
He longed to keep her safe from harm
From trustless wings of fake desire
His heart was glad at what it felt
Forgetting voices from the past
Disregarding others’ lies
For him he knew that she was meant
And he’d do anything for her
All while happiness, tears and sighs
Meet in her aspect and her eyes
