Draco's Dangerous Dilemma by Anise    (Reviews - 1418)

All Ginny wants is to get the upper hand just once with drool-worthy hunk of man candy and callous playboy Draco Malfoy before he moves on to his next careless conquest. So how did this simple plan lead to time travel, nefarious plots involving the most infamous whorehouse in the wizarding world, and the teenaged Draco’s achingly sweet, chocolate-flavored kisses? Even Draco Malfoy was innocent once, as Ginny learns all too well…

Chapter ONE HUNDRED EIGHTEEN Quote of the Day:

THE LAST CHAPTER

The minutes ticked by, long enough for Ginny to know that against all reason, all common sense, she still wanted impossible things from him. But she would leave. Even after today, even when her body ached from him and for him, when she could feel that he had begun to shape her to him, she would turn around and leave him. I will, I will, she thought.

“You don’t understand,” said Draco.

“Oh?” Ginny said stiffly. “At least he hadn’t touched her, she thought. She would not be able to find the strength to pull herself away from him, and she knew it.

I was so exited to see this new chapter ( and 2parts at that!)

Did Ginny just swear not to sleep with Draco before Astoria? Disgusting, tell me Draco will never sleep with the bitch. I hope Harry finds her and locks her in Azkaban (and then he could have conjugal visits with her and Draco and ginny will be free to be together).

Why was Draco sleeping in there? Was it to get away rom Astoria? She is obviously resonsible for Draco's lack of sleep. and the fact that Astoria couldn't get inside the room while Ginny could only strenthens my belief that Draco's bond with Ginny is stronger than with Astoria!

I'm waiting so eagerly for when Draco wakes up! And only you could make banshee sound tender (though it fits Draco to call someone a monster affectionately). I'm not sure Draco will be happy to see Ginny when he wakes up. and I can imagine how he reacts to Ginny's promise to Astoria.

Oh, come along chapter 70!

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Yes, Ginny did just swear that, but there are some fascinating plot developments coming up, let's just say... ;) We'll find out more about why Draco was in there in Chapter 70, but he's not going to tell Ginny everything about his real motives right away. Much more coming soon!

I was wondering, is there a place where I can ask you some general questions about your stories?

Author's Response: Thanks for asking! (does the Happy Answering General Questions Dance. :) I do have the LJ still up; I'm on Facebook but I don't use it very much... honestly, the best way is to click on "Anise" and go to the Contact Author link, and ask all the questions you can think of. :)

I didn't quite catch if the lines at the beginning of the chapter were really Draco talking in his sleep or did Ginny dream them?

I'm kinda angry at Draco for lashing out at Ginny like that but i had a feeling he won't be pleased to see her there. And she of course gets defensive and angry in return. Urghh, they are like children sometimes. I wonder what is Draco afraid of out there.

And I really loked how you brought Ginny's friends there and I couldn't deny myself some gloating at Draco when Ginny let everyone in.

On another note - if Draco was so careful in hiding himself (making the place unplottable nd everything) then how did Astoria find him?
Ah, this chapter was too short....

Author's Response: All I'll say about the lines at the start of the chapter is... a few chapters from now, the meaning will become VERY clear. ;) And we'll find out in Chapter 71 exactly what Draco is afraid of! Astoria was able to find Draco for the same reasons why she was able to get Obfirmo to let her in. There has been some speculation about exactly what those reasons are, and they haven't all been revealed. Astoria herself said that it was because she was a Malfoy wife, like it or not, but there's a little more to her Malfoy connections than just that. More soon! :)

Oh, thank you! This chapter was so much fun! Things are actually starting to happen and Ginny and Draco are going to spend 2.5 weeks together! I just hope they won't be at each other's throats all the time giving the state they are in!

Zach was absolutely hillarious! I liked the fact that Draco had to answer to him!
Finally someone got to boss Draco around. And I was happy to see Luna again and Colin's platonic love for Ginny is so touching (ha-ha jelous Draco forgot for a moment that Colin is bent).

But...the questions and the mysteries keep piling up and the suspence is becoming nearly unbearable!
So is Ginny psychic where it comes to Draco or did Zach put his "mind battle" with Draco into Ginny's head? He did seem keen on telling Ginny everything and it was touching that he is looking out for her, like he wasn't pleased at the posessivness he saw inDraco's mind toward her or at the fact that he wanted to regain some innocense taking hers.

Well, you see how exited I am and I'm so looking forward to the next chapter! I hope you post soon!
Thanks again!

Author's Response: You're welcome, and thank you! :) Yes, things are truly starting to happen now. The relationship between Draco and Ginny really becomes interesting at this point, I think. And I just loved seeing the Zach/Draco dynamic.

Ginny does perceive a lot of things with extra sensitivity when it comes to Draco. The way I think of it is that in the wizarding world, everyone has some kind of latent psychic power.Ginny's isn't developed (that's why she didn't get very good grades in any of Trelawney's classes), but she still has that potential, and it does come out in relation to to Draco. Zach was becoming extremely frustrated during his exchange with Draco because as an Immortal, he's used to being able to get inside of mortals' heads very easily. But nobody can do this with Draco-- not even an Immortal. So their "psychic exchange" got louder and louder, and Ginny picked up on it, although nobody else did.

More soon, and lots of answers coming up...

Oh, yes, yes, yes! Another chapter!!!!
Draco is being difficult in this one. Well, can't entirelly blame him, every plan he has is being ruined and Ginny is following him every time he wants to be alone.
“I didn’t like the way you wouldn’t talk to me, Malfoy - I liked this so much!
And why does Ginny keep using Bill's spells. She already knows they are quite a disaster!

So I guess now they'll have no choise bt make this art?
and I soo want to know what Harry's letter says! Please update quick!! (kneels in begging position).
ha-ha, your jelous Draco is always fun to read! That growl was fabulous! Almost as funny as his jelousy of Colin.
Thanks a lot!

Author's Response: Yes, Draco is being pretty difficult, isn't he? The question I might ask is exactly *why* he thinks that being alone is a good idea in the first place... why he'd want to get away from Ginny, that is... ;) I really think that Ginny just couldn't come up with anything else, and at least this worked better than most of Bill's other spells. It did get her through to Draco. And about creating that art... well, we'll find out about that once they read the rest of Harry's letter. Because I don't know exactly when the next update will be, I'll say right now that once Draco and Ginny both know what Harry has to say, they'll reach a turning point, one that they can't go back from. The decision they both make determines the direction of the rest of the fic. That is to say, if they make the *wrong* decision, it doesn't happen. It's a little like the old choose-your-own-ending books where the wrong choice meant that the book ended on Page 63. Of course, you KNOW I'm not going to stop the fic here.... ;) Anyway, more soon!

So let's see if I got it straight. Draco wanted to stay away from Ginny in order to protect her from when there will be no sketches produced and when he read the part of Harry's letter that states that Ginny won't be blamed he still wants to follow through with his plan and only when Ginny reveals what else was in the letter does he realise that Ginny won't be safe because harry will find out what she did with him.So now their only option to be safe (for both of them) is to actually do the job! I can't wait to read about harry's reaction when they actually produce the sketches!

You know, only now I fully realise how dangerous Harry is to Ginny. poor girl, two men obsessed with her purity. Aren't there any more virgin girls out there?

So I see that a lot is going to happen at the regency ball. I kinda hope it (the ball) to end with Draco publicly ditching Astoria and carrying ginny off to the sunset (or a sunrise?). But I know better.

Thanks so much for the chapter, can't wait for more!

Author's Response: I LOVE your reviews. :) I think what you're seeing so well here is what Draco wants Ginny to see, so it's very close, but it really isn't the same as his real motivation. I can't give that all away (of course), but I *will* provide some hints. Draco was truly trying to have a noble moment when it came to that first plan of his (by his standards, anyway.) If they didn't produce any sketches, then Harry would believe that Ginny despised Draco so much that she couldn't even bring herself to work with him. T The problem came along when Draco found out what else was in the letter, as you pointed out. He does know that Ginny won't be safe unless they produce the sketches, because Harry will never believe that she and Draco didn't do anything in the Crystal Palace room after those two and a half weeks together. But it's more, of course. Part of Draco's feelings for Ginny have always been very obsessive, but he has truly tried not to show her the worst parts of himself that come along with that obsession, and he's come a long way since the things he did last May at the cottage before he Obliviated her. When he found out that Harry is more obsessed than he himself has ever been, it was just too much. There's a price that Draco would have had to pay if they had shown up at the Ball without the sketches, and he's not willing to pay it now. He never actually would have been, but it was a rare noble moment... ;) Anyway, there is so much more juicy stuff to come! And that ball! Oo, oo, I know what's going to happen there! (runs off snickering)

Oh, dreaming again! I wish I could figure those out. It's obvious that they are not ordinary dreams and I bet there are many clues in them, but still I'm clueless (ha ha). So is that a way for the immortals to give Ginny information because they can't just outright say everything or disclose vital information? And I liked Draco's saying that they I like prisoners trapped in separate cells by the vows each of them made. And it was nice that you added some comic relief about Astoria's nightmare of being on an island without a houseelf.
Did Draco dream something too that night? she saw him up and walking in his sleep?
And is 16 year old Draco back?
More more more please!

Author's Response: Some very good guesses! Some closer to the truth than others...;) I would say yes to the part about the Immortals and dreams-- Lord Morpheus especially, because, well, he really can't communicate in any other way. BUT, as for the meaning of what Ginny saw Draco doing...

Okay, here's a clue. Draco came back unexpectedly from his five-month disappearance, and we don't really know why. Part of it was that he just couldn't stay away from Ginny, but there was another reason that hasn't been revealed. The reason why he was trying to break into St. Mungo's a few weeks ago hasn't been revealed either (except that somehow, in some way, it has something to do with the Malfoy money-- but that does cover a lot.) We also don't know all the reasons why he fled to the secret Malfoy wing of the CP in the first place.

When we learn what Draco was really doing when Ginny thought she saw him walking in his sleep, we'll know the answers to ALL these questions, and many more. :) Also, more about 16-year-old portrait Draco soon!

I must say that I really miss the Draco/Ginny interaction. There was so little of it in this chapter. (Imean the today Draco). the interaction that was wasn't really satisfying (sniff).
I'm intrigued as to why Ginny can't tell about the Art supplies Closet to Draco, of course). Is it somethig the room does or did Luna spell it or is it something else?

on to Ginny's interaction with Portrait Draco. It was so heartmelting. Poor Draco, will he ever be happy? Ginny has motherly feelings for him i think.

Also, Ginny makes entirely too many oaths! She needs to write them down in order to keep track.

I actually believe that she will visit 16 year old Draco in CP! Which brings us back to Marie. AND I STILL HOLD ON TO MY BELIEF THAT MARIE AND GINNY ARE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE! But I think that Ginny is going to impersonate Marie at some point (at which this chapter sorta hints), like, for example Astoria impersonated Ginny on her wedding night (shudders) with Draco. She used some spell, so perhaps Ginny will too.

Please, don't leave us hanging in the air!

Author's Response: Don't cry! (here's a box of Kleenex) There will be more D/G interaction soon. :) But there's a reason why Draco really feels that he *can't* truly interact with Ginny in any meaningful way just now. He's told her only part of the truth about why he went to the Crystal Palace rooms in the first place-- it certainly wasn't only to get away from Astoria, or to get away from anything at all. Draco truly tried to be noble (by his definition, anyway) and to at least make a stab at giving Ginny up, because he's desperately trying to accomplish something else, and he doesn't want to drag her down with him if he fails. But deep down, he knows that he never could have really given her up. And Harry's letter sparked all of his jealousy all over again. He knows perfectly well what a nightmare he's in for, spending two and a half weeks in a room with Ginny and having to keep her at arm's length the entire time.

More about Marie before all that much longer... ;)

Oh, those dreams-memories-or what ever-they-are! They drive me crazy! Ican't figure them out, but since the boywith theapple appeared in a dream and in a picture the P.Draco showed her, I assume she has already seen that picture before and her dizziness is due to some supressed memories.

And you are AMAZING! You lulled us all into thinking how innocent P.Draco is and now suddenly it u8ppears that he also has his own plots and schemes and he is not honest with Ginny.

Meanwile, the realDraco is so infuriating! AND WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO CREATE SOME ART?

Well, I'mdefinitely eager for what's next.

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I can't reveal all the answers, of course... but yes, you're right. Portrait-Draco was never quite as innocent as he seemed. (He was always Draco, after all!) But OTOH, is he really the major villain here? Well, everybody will have to make up their own minds about him after the next couple of chapters, because we'll get some more info. And things are really going to start moving soon... so we'll find out about the art, and lots of other stuff! :)

Oh, forall the rotten apples! That was one awesome chapter! Was that something like hesperides apple, to cause arguing between Draco and Ginny?

I was really scared at first that Draco will believe all the things she is forced to say, but I'm glad he figured it out!

I had a suspicion in previous chapter that P/Draco is trying to drive real Draco and Ginny apart so she would spend time with him, I guess something like that is going on? perhaps there's more. Ha-ha Draco is jelous of himself and tries to get rid of himself so he can be with Ginny! Poor bloke was stuck alone on a shelf for too long!

I hope you continue updating frequently. And ho's Scorpius doing?

Author's Response: Thanks! You're not quite right about the apple, but it's a very good guess. We'll find out right away in the next chapter what it means. And yes, the poor boy was stuck alone on a shelf... I do feel sorry for him, but everybody will have to make up their own mind about that after reading what comes next. More coming soon, and Scorpius is finishing up his sixth year, so we'll find out more about what he's doing pretty soon too! :)

My review just got eaten by the evil computer!

In short there was pity for P.Dracoo and hopes of seeing him in the future and I wonder whether realDraco will meet him. It also contained all the reasons why I think Lucius isn't just a ghost but I've no time to write again.
Thank you!

Author's Response: Oh, I hate, HATE when evil computers eat reviews. I've had that happen a few times.... (weeps tears of sad loss over eaten reviews) We'll find out just a bit more about portrait-Draco in the next chapter, and trust me, we WILL learn more about Lucius at some point. ;) More soon.

Yay, they made it! I hope things will go up to them now. This period in the CP was quite awful for them. Well, I really hope to read what's next soon, and the Ball is soon toO< I have a feeling some huge things will happen then!

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Yes, it was pretty awful, wasn't it? Lots of things are ahead for them, some very nice, some not so nice, and some.... well, you'll just have to wait and find out. ;) And you're right about the Pureblood Ball...

"You’re thinking so dreadfully loudly. It’s keeping me awake." I liked this line!
This place is so weird. Also I can imagine Ginny's embarrassment when she found out the bathtub was actually an inanim, considering what she was doing there. So was this Caldera doing something that his master would like to do?

Can I have a slice of that cake too? They probably already finished it off.
Waiting for what's next...

Author's Response: Yep, that's one of the weirder bathrooms I've ever heard of, for sure. ;) I picture Caldera as a Inanim that can't really think on its own-- it's more like a Sorceror's Apprentice broom type of thing. Because it's loyal to the Malfoys, it would be responding to Draco's needs and desires. So.... what do YOU think??;) Anyway.... sorry, yes, they ate all the cake. Except for the part that ended up in Draco's hair. More soon, and there's a lot coming up...

Oh,and that Cambio spell Draco used to make an apple look like a pie, isn't that the one AStoria used on their wedding night to look like Ginny? Is that what Draco is referring to when he says he couldn't resist?

Oh, I had the greatest urge to cry for them in the end. I just hope that they will stop denying their feelings soon, before it breaks my heart...

Thatt scene where they almost kiss was amazing and so charged! Your talent is absolutely fantastic!

I think Draco knows more about Ginny's dreams than he lets on. And is he looking for Lucius when he taps onthe walls? I wish Lucius just disappeared and left them alone!

How is it that only Ginny can wish for things in this soft place? It is a Malfoy territory isn't it?

And I WISH YOU THE BEST HEALTH AND MAY EVERYTHING IN YOUR LIFE TURN OUT THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE!

(Say hi to Scorpius for me...)

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I can't tell you what Draco's looking for, of course... but I CAN say that we'll all find out very very soon. :) And Ginny's wishes are very strong just now. A lot stronger than she realizes. But something tells me that some of Draco's wishes are going to come true, too. And thank you for all the happy wishes! :)

More coming soon about Scorpius... and more of this fic, of course. We have to find out what happens to Draco and Ginny...

Oh,yay! They finally get to make those sketches!!!

I like it so much how you make them warm up a bit towards each other the more time they spend together. You do it so slowly yet deliciously (I hope that made sence)! We see how Draco's walls give way occasionally, they are not as impenetrable as we were led to think. And when his guards fail him even a little we can have a glimpse to a tender soul that's buried somewhere undernease all those protective layers and bad experiences that toughened him.
I can't believe I just got all lirical. The chapter brought that side out aparrently.
So was it Harry or Lucius chasing them? I KNOW you won't tell, perhaps Lucius is more likely, Harry would wait to have his triumf at the ball. I can't wait to see his face when they turn up with the sketches!

Anyway, thank you thank you for the great chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I'm glad it was a chapter that brought out your lyrical side. I think that the only believable way for Draco and Ginny to truly grow closer would be for it to happen slowly. They've been through so much already, and Ginny was really badly burned by what happened between them a few weeks before (the "official Malfoy mistress" incident.) And I'll tell you this much-- it wasn't Harry. ;)

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You know, I actually thought you are older, judging from your stories so yay to you!

This chapter was beautiful, a really artful chapter about art. i was touched by the scene where Ginny tries to see beyond the L AND S painting! I wish she and Draco achieve the kind of love she could feel there.

And the way they start drowing, it was amazing. I can't wait to read about the result of it.

I think Draco is opening up to Ginny bit by bit. Like here is the first time he says something about his mother. it's just one sentence but for him it is a huge step I think. I feel that they will stop calling each other by their last names soon. Am I right?

Also this Azkaban thing keeps coming up. Something tells me that at least Draco has already been there. or perhaps it belongs to their mutual obliviated past?

It was so touching to see how Draco encourages Ginny and trusts her abilities. Of course, his freedom is at stake here but still...

Of course, as always I await the next chapter and the dream sequence.

Happy birthday again and all the best wishes!

Author's Response: Well, idykeadellic didn't quite get it right. But f you go my maturity level, I feel about 8 years old these days, so... ;) Anyway. Thanks so much! We'll definitely see if Draco and Ginny ever do get there. And as for hte name thing... we'll find out about that pretty soon. Not right away, but before too much longer. Aha.... you caught the Azkaban ref too. Yes, Draco has let a few hints drop, and he seems to already know too much about it, doesn't he? We'll find out what it all means, in time. Much more soon! :)

yay, they finally finished those sketches! I really liked the idea of how they did it. What really intrigues me is what will happen to the masterpiece they made and desided not to show anyone. Perhaps it will come back later, when they achieve the closeness they created in that art?

and the Ball is tomorrow? how are they going to get the proper attire? Can they order it or something?

I look forward to the ball with a big anticipation of things that will happen there!

And the dream! It really does fit in with other dreams that Ginny had of Draco's heart. It's so romantic that she has to be the one to help him mend his aching, broken heart. And there's a price to pay, obviously. I hope Ginny succeeds, though I think she has to keep a special notebook to keep track of all the vows and promises she makes.

AND I like to think that the dream confirms the theory I had for a while that Draco was trying to look for Narcissa, who Is hidden somewhere in those soft places. Her disappearanc did cause Draco a major heartbreak. Also she is obviously very well hidden, so that no one even inquires after her and we see that Draco can't say mother or Narcissa, he allways says "my, my" and is unable to say anything else, due to some spell perhaps. I wonder if she went to hiding by her own choise or perhaps Lucius hid her somewhere against her will (which seems more probable because I don't think Narcissa would deliberately leave Draco without making it possible for him to visit her).

Also, I think this is the reason why it took them so long to find the art supplies. After all this is Malfoy' s place and perhaps Draco's desire to find his mother was greater than his and Ginny's desire to do those sketches. Only after he realised that he was putting Ginny through too much, did finding the supplies become his first priority!

WHICH MEANS that he made a HUGE sacrifice - he gave up on looking for his mother for Ginny! Wow!

Well, i like this theory.... (runs in shame from Anise who is cuckling evilly becase she knows what's really going on).

Thank you for another delightful chapter and shouldn't you be making a lot of money being so rare??

Anyway, best health as always. I mailed you, hope you got it.

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Yes, that first sketch will show up again. The ball attire will also show up the next day, and it'll be a very interesting day or preparation. Ginny should keep a notebook, but I don't think she is! ;) I love your dream theories... we'll find out a lot more about what's really going on pretty soon. Many things will be revealed at the PB... O.k., so now, to a proper review. I love how Draco is gradually loosing his indifferent facade in front of Ginny. I'm referring to the episode where Ginny discovers that he has to go to the Ball with Astoria. I think that Draco of the early chapters would have smirked and said something like "You couldn't have been that dense to think that I would take you instead of my wife", but here we see him frantically explaining her that he has no choise in the matter because of the Ball rules and he is desperate for her to believe him.

And was this long preambule about the many rules of the Ball done by Draco deliberately so she would believe him that he must take Astoria? Please tell me he will come with Astoria but leave with Ginny!!! Some public humiliation of said wife would be a nice summer present....

And if those cookies you fed us a while ago still hold, then Blaise is the one to take Ginny to PB. I hope Luna doesn't mind.

I so hoped that the Ball will be next chapter, but I see that there will be at least one more chapter beforehand.

Thanks for the lovely chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you! I loved that you picked up on that. Draco is losing his facade indeed. Now, as for why Draco is harping on the rules so much... well, there are a few reasons. For one thing, you're right; for another, it's actually true, and for yet another, there's something that Ginny doesn't know yet. Draco is hoping that she doesn't find out, because he'd like to convince her to do something, and it helps his case to keep talking about millions of rules. But that isn't going to work out so well... More coming soon, and I'm off to get the tests done!Yay!

I'm in a habit of reading other reviews, mainly because sometimes there are clues in your answers to them.

So I just wanted to say that while there are certain similarities between your stories, still each one takes a different course and Draco and Ginny Are different in each story, the differences are someimes clear and sometimes subtle but they are there. That holds for other characters too. Also I like how you explore different possibilities of what could happen with D and G in terms of personal growth and their relationship with each other!

But everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course...

I'm sad that Blaise and Luna are not together anymore, but I hope they will return to each other!

Draco's overprotectivness is wearing Ginny down.

Thanks for the new chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks! Well.... I kind of had to. Draco wouldn't let me stop writing the fic, you see, and-- (here they come with the butterfly nets AGAIN. I think I'll escape on the train this time...) Anyway. The Ball is coming soon, but there a couple more surprises before it does.;) And we'll learn a lot more about what really happened between Blaise and Luna when Ginny finally gets there. Draco is being overprotective in a way, but he does have his reasons, and one of them is more shocking than anything that's been revealed yet... as Ginny will learn.

Oh, you tease!

That dance at the end was so beautiful and they've said much more to each other here than ever before (I mean the soul language). And that kiss on the forehead was so much more emotional and intimate here than a kiss on the lips would have been.

I do hope they get to dance together at the ball!

Thank you for a quick and beautiful update!

Author's Response: Me? A tease? (tries to look innocent) Oh, thank you! I tried to convey that feeling with the dance and the kiss. And yes, I CAN reveal that they'll get to dance together at the ball, although that's a stickier situation (which I don't think exactly gives anything away). More soon!
