I've torn through both of your fics in the past week and was just captivated by your writing. Draco and Ginny are complicated and any relationship between them will also be complicated. You do a beautiful job of telling a gripping story while also exploring the complexities of human interaction and decision. I particularly love how you frequently allude to things the characters know, but the reader doesn't. It keeps me guessing what you'll come out with next.
I know it's been about a year since you updated, but I still hope that you'll be able to finish this fic, especially after how far you've come. I checked your LJ, but I don't see anything updated there either. Is there still a chance?
I was so excited to see that you had updated. It made being snowbound in airports much better. Of course, once I finished the story, I was so excited I had to go read both again to understand everything.
You're a fantastic writer. I really admire how carefully you reveal and hide information from your readers. I couldn't stop reading, even my second time through. Draco's characterization is a fantastic mix of being perfectly realistic while still adding comic relief. His actions are perfectly understandable but I love watching his scandalized reactions to where he's ended up.
One of my favorite scenes was the final conversation between Draco and his father. It's beautifully touching from two men who don't really show their feelings and yet wasn't awkward or out of character. Anyway, think you for updating. I'd honestly thought of never see the end, so it was a wonderful way to start the new year.
My name is Ginevra Malfoy. I am a wife to the Minister's third in command, a Death Eater, and the coldest man I have ever known.Category: Long and Completed
Who would have thought that when Harry killed Voldemort the purists would still come to power? Who would have thought that when the marriage law is enforced, a Malfoy would propose to a Weasley? And who in their right mind could have foreseen that Harry Potter would ask her to say yes? This is a tale about a failing marriage and a society spiralling towards civil war.
I enjoyed this immensely. I especially like how you played with the timeline to reveal the plot, but also how multidimensional your characters are. You mentioned something about a sequel, but your blog is protected. Any update on that?
Sequel to "The Journey Home." Ginny has finally come to terms with her grief, but much of her life remains in turmoil as a new mystery beckons her back to the one place she doesn't want to be, in an effort to free her lover from his family's past mistakes.Category: Works in Progress
I really enjoyed the first story in this series, but had resisted starting the sequal because I wasn't sure if you'd continue writing it. Now that there's an update, I've cruised through both stories in a day. I really like the direction this is taking, both that there are ties to the previous story and also that there's a new mystery. I'm looking forward to seeing where you take it.
Author's Response: The first story was my first venture into a mystery, and it felt very abbreviated to me, mostly because it was written for a challenge, so I had to get it out quickly. This one, once I started really trying to put together a true mystery, took more time to weave in some subtle pieces to the plot. I still feel I could have done better, but I like what I've come up with and it's been a fun writing venture. Good that you waited - because I was on a bit of hiatus - but I am committed to finishing my work. Thanks so much for reading, and I'm glad you've enjoyed this so far !
Ginevra Weasley has woken up in an alternate reality, but no one else seems to have noticed - not even her fiance. Now she has to travel to the past to get her future back.Category: Works in ProgressThis gorgeous artwork was created by Hannah Askance.
This is a really interesting premise, and I'm curious to see where you'll take it. It's been abouut six months since you've updated, but I hope this hasn't been abandoned.
Author's Response: Thank you! I have grand plans for this fic.
It's not abandoned, I swear; just on hiatus while I get my most recent project out of my system. I'm not terribly fantastic as multitasking my stories, you see, but I promise I'm doing my best. ;)
The summer was built on the smells of her past, of distant memories long since forgotten, of her home that she could no longer remember. A not-quite-Muggle!AU.Category: Works in Progress
I've never encountered this premise before. I'm interested to see where you take it.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I hope to update this soon. :)
As the unintended Captain of the most despised Auror squad, can Draco Malfoy lead his band of Slytherins through Death Eater attacks and threats from the Ministry? Definitely not. At least, not without the help of his reluctant Lieutenant: Ginny Weasley. Inconveniently, the last person he'd ever ask.Category: Long and Completed
I'm generally nervous about reading WIPs, but I was thrilled to see that you'd already completed writing this. It reminds me of when I first started reading fanfiction and followed stories for months (years), treasuring each new update. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing where this one will go.
Author's Response: That makes me so happy! I'm excited to have you on board, and hope you enjoy the journey! :D
When Ginny wakes up as a patient—and Draco Malfoy's roommate—in St. Mungo's, all she has are questions. Without answers, they turn to each other to stay sane, but the edge of madness looms close. In the Janus Thickey Ward, it's impossible to hide from what you are.Category: Long and CompletedWritten for SunnyStorms in the DG Forum's Summer 2013 Fic Exchange, and winner of the Most Creative, Best Response to the Prompt, and Best Characterization of Draco awards. :)
I'd been trying to figure out your plot. The end to this chapter was beautiful and better then my pet theory. I look forward to the conclusion!
Author's Response: I would still love to hear your theory prior to this chapter! I'm glad you've enjoyed the story so far. I should be updating in the next week. :)
You have no idea how hard it is to live out a great romance. ~ Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of WindsorCategory: Works in Progress
When an engaged Ginny Weasley was traded to the Wimbourne Wasps, she never expected to fall in love with teammate Draco Malfoy. She certainly never expected their love letters to be stolen and published to the entire Wizarding public. This is a story of how a love affair began and the scandal that rocked Wizarding society.
Originally written for the Fall 2011 DG Forum Exchange; now heavily expanded and revised.
I am enjoying this story so much. You're building the tension, the dynamics and the plot so well. The characters are have such depth.
