The Shotgun Bride by Nokomis    (Reviews - 150)

Draco and Ginny have been seeing each other on the sly for months when something unexpected happens. Now they have to tell their families. Beat downs, an evil grandmother, muscle cars, Scooby boxer shorts and rednecks make appearances.

GREAT chapter. I laughed my arse off -- particularly when thinking about them with outrageous Southern accents. :)) Are you ever going to close on the mystery of Ginny's trampiness, or will you leave it up to us to either give her the benefit of the doubt, or believe all those other boys? <g>

I particularly enjoyed Harry's cameo -- for some reason the idea that he always thought Ginny would be his, coupled w/ the fact that he had no clue she'd been sleeping around, makes me laugh.

I'm curious to know why Draco felt he had to make sure Pansy wasn't angry -- fear of retribution? :D

And I really liked the offhand way Draco was totally fine w/ the idea of Ginny getting fat.

I adore this story, and this ending couldn't have been more perfect. I cannot WAIT for the further adventures of redneck Draco and Ginny.

Most excellent! I feel like I've been waiting for this installment forever, and it was so worth it! :D I loved Draco as a daddy (no wonder Ginny had to rush to ride the washing machine ), and I admired the fact that he was a good sport about being unable to wank when Ginny was apparently taking care of her own needs on the side. The kids being named Daniel and Annie was brill! I'd forgotten about that. (Though Annie was in OMitB -- she was the one Daniel screwed over in true Malfoy fashion.) So funny. And Cissa was adorable. I dig the idea of Draco having a daddy's girl ... even if she's made of glass.

Mmm, I love this story. I'm glad I have the opportunity to review it as I should have when I first read it. I did rec this and a couple of other stories by you on my Live Journal, but never wrote you to let you know I enjoyed them. I find the idea of a Draco/Harry/Ginny relationship quite intriguing, and I adore the way you've so beautifully painted the turmoil of their lives. I've always loved stories involving what a real war -- and living through it -- in the wizarding world might be like. I enjoy the potential and the promise it represents, and I loved your portrayal of it. Thanks for sharing this story, as well as for your kind reviews. <g> Sarea

Author's Response: Thank you! (Thanks all round!) I've always had a thing for War-fic in HP. So much lovely potential around it; I think my noir is showing. *g*

I looooooooved this. <333

I really liked how you detailed the progression of their relationship, and I'm glad you explained why Draco got all 'uninterested' that first time, because I had my own excuses all ready if you weren't going to provide one. :)) Though now that I know the truth, I WEEP for all the time they lost, WEEP.

I loved Draco's attempt to woo her, and how silly they both were for getting their wires crossed so utterly. Sue me, I love that kind of thing, particularly when it's done well, which it was here. But really, they should have gone through their entire relationship totally mute, and maybe then they wouldn't have misunderstood one another so often. Heehee.

Though there are many such parts, I think my favorite bit was this:

"Oh, I don't know, then you'd have to take them off me," said Draco, swinging the baby up to his shoulder and patting him vigorously.

First, I like Draco's very Draco response. <g> Secondly, the idea of him cluelessly trying to burp this poor child just made me go into a fit of giggles.

Okay, my love for the story proclaimed and all the rest of it said, I found a couple of typos (see, I can be helpful):

better able to take him to shreds calmly

I think you probably mean tear him to shreds...

she reared up and whispered, "Marrying me."

Don't think you need to conjugate 'marry' ... though I'm sure Draco and Ginny will give it their fullest attention. Bwahahahaha. ;)

I enjoyed this so much. : ) I really liked the pace/style of the story, and while I suspected that Draco and Ginny had something going on (the 'clues' you dropped were just right), the reveal was still a really lovely moment. Very nicely done!

Sarea

Author's Response: Gee, thank you! I counts this as the first D/G fluff I've written that actually worked :) I'm very flattered that you read it. Thanks again!

This was such a wonderful story to follow. As I've told you, I loved learning about wine and how people are able to appreciate it. Unfortunately I think it's one of those things that I will never be able to enjoy the way Draco and Ginny do in this story, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable to read. Also, Draco in the epilogue made me giggle when he had to go "compose himself" after realizing that Ginny couldn't drink alcohol while pregnant. He's such an endearing bastard. :D

Okay, the site ate my first review... hope this one goes through. This was such a wonderful story to follow. As you know, I loved learning about wine and how other people experience it. Since wine is one of those things I'll likely never be able to enjoy in real life the way Draco and Ginny do in this story, it's nice to be able to enjoy it fictionally. :D Also, I just have to say that Draco made me giggle in the epilogue when he had to go "compose himself" after realizing that Ginny couldn't drink alcohol while pregnant. He's such an endearing, clueless bastard. :D
