I loved the humor here. It literally had me laughing out loud. I also liked the Hades/Persephone/pomegranate reference. So adorable. Your characterizations were great. I just really enjoyed this and I know I'll be reading it again in the future.

Beginning and End by Mynuet    (Reviews - 51)

When had it started? While there was a definite incident that could be pointed to as the start of it all, there were roots that trailed backwards, tangled and building up to where finally something was visible. A girl who felt herself to be tainted started drawing in on herself, and no one, not even her brothers, seemed to notice. A boy, who made sure no one noticed that he watched her, wondered about what was going on behind the deliberate blankness of her eyes.

I'm not sure that you've written a story I haven't liked. This started out pretty dark and I was actually thinking that it would be a turning-Ginny-to-the-Dark-Side fic, which wouldn't have been a bad thing. When done well, those can be enjoyable stories to read. Anyway, I loved the rawness of it all, especially Draco with his "Take what I can get."

I just want to say thank you for the outline in the last chapter. No, we didn't get the little details that fill in the spaces between outline bullets and make a story enjoyable to read, but we did get the ending. I just recently resolved to myself that I would do the same thing in the event that I didn't finish the story I want to work on. I know only too well the feeling of having invested hours of time and emotional attachment to a story, only to find that it's not finished and won't be. I would be so much less disappointed if all authors who abandoned a story did it the way you did. So, seriously, thank you.

The Visible Invisible by Emeral_eyes    (Reviews - 116)

*Complete* "There are hundreds of invisible people in the world – the ones that you would never notice. You can see them, because they are there, but you don’t SEE them really. I realized that night that I was invisible." When you feel invisible, you'd do anything to have someone really see you; the way you've always wanted to be seen. But if the only person who actually sees you is the last person you'd ever expect it to be, what do you do? [Post Hogwarts]

Going to have to agree with the previous two reviewrs; there should be a non-con warming. Especially after reading the first one, I was completely unprepared for the rape scene. To be honest, it was almost triggering for me. Which is not to say that I would't have read the story, just that a little warning would have been nice.

I'm rather conflicted about this story. I really loved most of the characterizations, especially Narcissa's. You're a gifted writer.

But.. I don't think I can approve of Draco and Ginny getting back together after he raped her. That's not a forgivable offense. I realize that she loved him and he honestly, truly regretted it, but that's not enough. I feel like you got her reaction to it spot on - the devastation, the fear, the desire to just forget, the self-loathing, her near breakdown in front of Blaise and Narcissa. But she leaves specifically so that she doesn't go back to him. I'm having a hard time reconciling all of that with her decision to get to know him and start a friendship, especially since she knows that's not all he wants. I know it's not terribly implausible - you only have to read about battered and abused women to know that it's not. I guess I just don't see Ginny that way. I don't like this notion that rape is something you can move past with your rapist.

I think what really bothers me about this story and makes me feel so squicky is how true to life it is. I can completely see this scenario happening between two real people and it saddens and sickens me.

To wrap this up, because it's getting long and is mostly negative, neither of which are probably pleasant, I DID enjoy your writing. It's probably the only reason I finished the fic. I'm curious to explore your other work (especially hoping to find a similar strong!Narcissa, Protective!Luna, and Blunt!Blaise in other stories of yours). I just can't get behind the premise.

I am sincerely disappointed, rather a bit upset, and slightly angry. This is not a completed story. You didn't wrap up ANY of the major plot points. This didn't need a sequel, it needed to be finished. I try not to read incomplete fics because it only upsets me when I want more and it's not there. I'm angry because this was billed as a complete fic when it is not, so I had no warning that disappointment was imminent. My time has been wasted, because it's clear you're never coming back to this.
The worst part is: the story was good. It needed a bit of work, but for the most part, I liked it and where it seemed to be going. It was a bit jolting and confusing in places. As someone else pointed out, though, your descriptions were great. I enjoyed reading a dark!Ginny fic, though I did feel her turn was too abrupt. The plot was good, but, again, incomplete. It's a pity this was left here like this, because I would have enjoyed reading the rest.

Aww. That was adorable. I loved your Ginny. She's just a bit different than you usually see her and it was wonderful. I felt their relationship formed a bit too quickly, but that's probably just my personal dislike of "Love at First Sight" stories talking. That isn't what happened here, obviously, I was just referring to the pacing. Anyway, either way, I quite liked the story and would love to read more about this iteration of the couple.

Heavenly Creatures by Anise    (Reviews - 54)

The sequel to The Bat-Bogeys Cometh, and the second in the trilogy. In the summer of 1997, the entire wizarding world hovers above the abyss of its own destruction. The Death Eaters have escaped Azkaban and killed dozens of students on the Hogwarts Express, and the school has become a fortress of fear. No-one knows what happened to Draco Malfoy... except for Ginny. But there is more to the story than anybody dreams, and Ginny cannot resist going to Sirius Black’s grave on a long, hot summer evening, and as she tries to unravel the mystery of his life and death, she falls into a dream of the last days at Twelve Grimmauld Place with him, two years before. And when Ginny wakes to the reality of 1997 Hogwarts, she begins to understand why she is remembering all of these long-gone events... because although her last chance to save the wizarding world from the doom that awaits it lay in that summer past, there are powers to whom nothing is impossible—for a price.

I'm not sure how much I like the epilogue. It's well-written and cute, but I don't think I like the underlying premise. I don't see Draco... Settling, is perhaps the word. If he were going to marry a woman who wasn't Ginny, I see him taking more the approach that she did, avoiding as many similarities as possible. I think it would just eat at him at the end of the day that this woman wasn't Ginny, no matter how much she may look like her. He would come to resent that.
Anyway, epilogue aside, l liked the story. It was well written and long, which is always a good thing in my view.

I love this fic. There is a rather large problem of missing or incorrect wordage here and there that got pretty distracting at times, but it was still great. I do agree with someone else who said that many of the characters wee OOC. But the dynamics were so good that it could mostly be ignored. I loved the relationships between all of the supporting characters, particularly Luna and Snape.
I'm also going to ask for a sequel now. It's been long enough that I don't feel bad about asking. I want to know who Tracey ends up with and whether or not Snape gets Rosmerta!

I expected that old man and his wife to turn up again, though I did think it would be different. To be honest, while cute, their reappearance was a bit disappointing.

The angst in this story... So much angst. I loved it. There's more to say but I feel like I'm not articulating it in my head very well which makes it impossible to get down here. I liked a lot of this fic (the goblin prince/fairy love story was adorable), but there were some things I didn't like, too. I felt Draco was a tad OoC with his emotional confessions, but that's always hard to get right with him. All in all, I enjoyed your fic, I'm adding it my faves, and I'll read it again.

This was a well-written essay, but I think I have to disagree. I'm not by any means saying that writing fanfic is easy. Writing good fanfic is not. However, I do believe it is easier than writing original fiction.

You talked about the constraints present in fanfic that you don't feel are present for original fiction, but I'm not sure why you feel that the constraints aren't there in OF. In OF, you have to build the world yourself. Part of that world building is establishing rules for how your world works. Once you set those rules, they're as unbreakable as the ones in fanfic. The same applies to characters. Just like in [good] fanfic, if you want a character to do something, you have to figure out how to get them to do it while staying in character.

There is just as much a build up of expectations in OF as in fanfic. Yes, you get to decide what expectations you're building up from the beginning, but you're as much a slave to them as you are to the ones in someone else's work. A reader will put down a book that fails to meet and uphold expectations as easily as they will a fanfic.

Really, I feel like it's all preparation. Especially if you're going to be writing a novel-length fanfic, you should do the same amount of prep work as an OF writer would. You need to be aware of everything in canon that is relevant to the characters you're writing about. You need to understand the characters better than you understand yourself, so that you know, or could easily figure out, how they would react in any given situation while staying in character. I've heard of a lot of authors, and DnD players, talk about how their characters got away from them. They wanted to steer them to this or that event and it proved difficult because they had to do so in a way that remained true to the character. I feel like the same should hold true in fanfic, in that a fanfic author should have that same level of understanding of the characters they write about.

To sum, writing fanfic is hard, but I think it's easier than writing OF. A lot of the work has already been done for you; it's just a matter of following the rules the canon author set up. Any difficulties present in writing fanfic are also present for writing OF, but with OF, you have to do all of the world-building and character creation as well.

I know this is an old fic and you may not even read this, but I'm trying to be better about reviewing, so...

I liked this, rather a lot. It was poignant. I didn't terribly like how fast Ginny fell in love with him, but that's probably just my personal prejudice against "love" at first sight, probably better phrased as love in a moment. Obviously, it fit the story, though, and not just because it was necessary as a plot device. Her questioning its ease helped, I think.
The end was beautiful, heart-wrenching, and defiant. I haven't seen anyone comment on that last, but I loved it. It was so GINNY, to draw Lucius's attention to her action, to really drive home that it was deliberate. Victory was so close, he could almost feel it, taste it, and then - gone. And to see that blood-traitor in a loving embrace with his son before he was snatched away... I can only imagine the rage that ensued. While I'm sure they killed her family, and Luna, because of her actions, I think they kept her alive for as long as they possibly could, as punishment. It wouldn't take Lucius long to realize how she almost got his son back, their final act being an almost neon sign in itself, and it would have given him pleasure to deny her death's, and Draco's, embrace. Because Draco would have waited for her, at that border to Tartarus, until the day she returned to him. Even if it took years, which I'm sure it did, he would have fought the ennui of the afterlife so that they could be together in death as they couldn't in life.
Alrighty, kind of leading off into my own spin-off fan fiction, I suppose, so time to wrap up. All in all, loved your characterizations, loved the story and premise, and looking forward to seeing what else you have to offer.

Well, that was interesting. Not the take I would have on that song, which is a favorite of mine, but not bad. I feel like the dialogue was a little bit clunky, like there was some development that we missed. I don't know that I can describe it very well, other than it wasn't smooth. Like, it didn't make sense for it to happen that way? I mean, as a dream, it doesn't necessarily have to be linear or logical. I've had plenty that aren't. I don't know, I'm trying to be constructive here, but I feel like I'm not doing even a mediocre job at it. Feel free to completely ignore this review.

On another note, I may give some thought as to how I would do this now. I'll probably never actually do it, but I like to think about this kind of stuff. I shall favorite this story so that I can credit you if I ever get around to writing a fic for the song.

I did not expect that to be Epilogue Compliant, so that was a surprise. The only part that confused me was the first naughty scene. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be Snape and Lily or Ginny and Draco. It works, either way, so it doesn't really matter in the end. I liked how you wove the DH excerpts in.

I almost threw my iPad when I saw that the next/last chapter wasn't here. There are not words to express the frustration that I feel, knowing this fic hasn't been updated in four years and that it likely never will. Should you perchance stumble upon this review, know that at least one person is still interested in reading the rest of this story.

Well. That was - *fans her face* I join the cigarette crowd, as well.

I feel that I should point out there were a few spelling errors. Not terribly many, but I would want to be informed if there were errors in my fic, so... there you go.

Been a few minutes since I finished reading and I'm still a bit bothered. Good job.

Finding himself a refugee within the walls he had conspired against, he witnesses a scene that alters his perception of a concept he had previously found to be a waste of time: Love. This change allows him to grow away from the model Death Eater his father had been sculpting him into in an effort to find out what he really believes in with the help of his new friendship found in the youngest Weasley. I just read this on hpfanfic.com. It kept sounding familiar and I knew that I'd read it before. Then I saw you mention that it was here and I came to take a look an lo, I had read it before and it was on my favorites. But I didn't leave a review when read it the first time. I was bad about that for awhile.

Anyway, I enjoyed your story. There were some scenes I really loved, like when Crabbe and Gotle attacked Ginny and the Pensieve scene afterward. For the most part, I liked your Draco. There were some parts where he was a bit OoC to me. But I've been reading these stories for over 12 years now, so I've built up a notion in my head of who Draco is and it's possibly different from reality. So long as he's mostly right, I can deal with a few minor differences in our notions. And you did get him mostly right. I loved how you portrayed his emotions for Ginny.
Your Ginny was great, too. Her inner angst about her relationship with Draco was great. So - teenager. I remember those thought processes rather well. Kind of embarrassing really.
Anyway, I liked your ending, particularly how Fred and George picking on Draco makes him feel like part of the family. It was cute. I could've done with a bit more of Draco and Ginny; their marriage or proposal would have been nice. All in all, great story.

That was hot. Not really digging the cheating, but... meh. Still hot.
