Since I am the 'Featured Story' girl -- a title that I have been over the moon about since you offered it to me, I'd like to weigh in on the subject.

It's my favourite story. I would be if it were written by any other writer...a member of the Cabal or not. Since I have recently reccommended it to half my flist -- NO, all of my flist - it's been on my sidebar at LJ for almost a year -- I decided it was about time I featured it here.

ALSO -- I double checked - there have not been any other Mynuet stories featured... and if I had the power to do it I would have chosen this fic a long time ago. So there! ;)

(Hey Lyndsie -- is there a way for me to have the power to do it myself - Then Myn wouldn't have to ahve a moral dilemma.)

So yeah -- while it is your archive... I am the Featured Story girl... hopefully everyone heard me scream in joy from the roof tops when that became my job -- so they know it's not you... it's me. ;) (I've always wanted to say that to someone - but I have never had the opportunity! ;))

However, I will go ahead and reaffirm that I do thoroughly enjoy the story (as I do the vast majority of your writing in general), and it lends a more 'real world' relationship factor than you usually write. And by real world, what I mean is in the essence of the relationship - Ginny supporting him/grounding him, etc. as opposed to the flirty, fun, school girl type pairing you usually write. (And I probably didn't say that quite right, because they're all incredibly well written, it's just different than what I usually think of when I think of a Mynuet story.) That alone sets it apart from quite a bit of your, and other work, and it deserves a good look because it's a good story.

Besides, you said it yourself... do you really think there's anyone here that hasn't looked up your author page just because you own/run the site? It would be silly to advertise yourself for the sake of advertising yourself - however inadvertently, that's already been done, and effectively, at that. So see, those of us with common sense find it perfectly fine.

And, on a side note, I'm positively giddy / beside myself for making it onto the list in such esteemed company. I think I might be able to officially die happily. ...Maybe not though, as I don't know how the story ends yet.

I don't see what's the problem with that. It's not like you are featuring it, someone else did and if she thinks it should be featured it would be unfair no doing so.

If it was all Mynuet all the time, it might be a bit of an issue. But I fail to see why featuring an excellent story of yours along with several other excellent stories is showing any type of favoritism.

I believe that Jess is great when it comes to suggesting fics and I feel that if she deems one of the archived fics to be featured then that's great; regardless of whether the fic chosen was written my an admin or not.

It's understandable that because you are one of the site owners, Mynuet, that have one of your stories featured might seem like it's too much of you, but the fic that Jess picked is fantastic and it should be recognized.

I think it's fine for one of your stories to be featured once in awhile. It's not as though Jess is featuring it to suck up - she genuinely appreciates the quality of the story.

You had nothing to do with it. You put someone else in charge, and it's their decision. No offense intended here or anywhere else, for that matter, but I think the real reason you have an issue is that you did put someone else in charge. Then, in turn, they used the power you gave them to give you a little bit of praise for once. Sucking up, it's not. You're a talented writer and Jess likes your stories. It's her call. Don't feel weird about it.

Hyperventilating? Whatever for? I think that your stories should be treated the same as any other author's stories on this site - for better or worse. If Jess thinks that one of your stories deserves to be a featured fic based on the quality of that fic, then so be it. If not, then so be that as well.

I don't think it's fair for your stories to be featured just because you're Mynuet. At the same time, I don't think it's fair for your stories not to be featured just because you're Mynuet. Besides, the featured fic isn't so much about giving you more "attention" as it is about bringing a great fic to the attention of readers so we can enjoy it and celebrate a great D/G experience.

I appreciate the thought you have put into this situation. Rest assured, it's all good as long as you don't go mucking around in the Featured Stories by banning your own fics and depriving the site readers of stellar fics. Discriminating against Mynuet is as wrong as discriminating against any other author. Please treat yourself as well as you treat every other author on this site. These are my impressions. Thanks for the airtime.

I like the featured stories space because it exposes me to stories I might have missed. I hit the most recent button, and then I hit the archive. I'm sure there are many great fics I haven't gotten to yet. In summation, I like the featured stories idea, : )

I think you've been featured before for your story with Ves. It shouldn't really matter though that you're the site owner. A good story is a good story, no matter who penned it.

While I do believe that you are one of the best ff writers out there, I understand that you're not just fishing for compliments. But since you are so utterly fantastic, I don't think it should matter whether or not your name is all over the site. Your stories are good and they deserve to be featured, not matter how involved with the site you are. And it's not as if you put them there yourself. If someone else is in charge of te featured stories then it's really out of your control. RELAX. BREATH NORMALLY. haha

Logically it would makes sense for at least one of your stories to be posted as you have the most fics posted on dag.com (beating out anise by 32.5 fics). Besides your name is mainly plastered on the site for administrative and statistical purposes, so really you deserve to be featured in a different sense.

I feel that it's not a conflict of interest because it's not you that's deciding to feature your story. Besides, for all the work you put into the site you deserve to be featured for your outstanding writing ability.

It's not like you're the one picking the stories, so I don't have a problem with it. Like many others have said, a good story is a good story, and I happen to really like that one also. You've done a good story, why not get a little recognition?

I must stress my honest opinion that your penname has been nothing but inconspicuously used throughout the site. Furthermore I think we should recognize works in their own right, and not based on authorship.

I would also like to add that the fic in question is original not merely in terms of your own style, but also in terms of this ship as a whole, and I think it is a solid choice for featured stories.

But I salute you for adressing this issue without prompting, unnecessary though it may be in your case. Kudos.

I think it's 100% ok that your story is featured you are an author just like the other 500 and some authors on this website and just because you run the site doesnt mean you have any less right to be featured.

Can I just say that I am overwhelmingly glad everyone see's why I chose that story. All of you have been uber supportive of Myn and of me -with my picking it.

I just adore you all. I'm glad that all of you loved the fic, but even moer than that, it makes me really appreciative that you all like the stories I rec. There are so many wonderful stories archived here and I always worry that people don't even look at them, or search them out.

Now, if all of you who read them could review them... THEN ny life's work as a reccer would be complete! ;)

I understand exactly why you're fretting.... You're kind of a ... hmm, how should I put this... I see you as this amazing flurry of emotions... you're very passionate about everything you talk about.... I dunno. Every time I read anything you say it reminds me of a hurricane of power.... I think that her grabbing one of your stories shocked you a little? I mean, everyone does already know who you are, and I bet you're side is: Well, isn't that for unrecognized authors? ...so I see that point. But I also see that this is an amazing story, and should be recommended... I like that unheard of authors get put up there with the names of brilliant people. So...I guess it's really a compliment to be up there with the likes of you. I don't see it as an issue, although I see how it could be taken as one.

I appreciate the fact that you're asking for our opinion. That's very honest of you.

I was kind of under the impression that the featured stories was primarily for unrecognized authors, and yes, most of the people who navigate this site have probably already read that story anyway. However, it is not like jandjsalmon is simply putting it up there because she's your best mate or trying to get on your good graces-- she honestly liked your story, and as long as it remains there for that reason, I think it's perfectly acceptable. I too enjoyed the story very much :) !
