Photobooth

The next person to say anything about "But I want the Photobooth skin back!" is going to feel my wrath, fyi.

No one is getting paid to work for the archive. Megh, Lyndsie, and others have been working hard to do things for everyone's enjoyment in their spare time, and when you respond to their efforts with, "That's nice, but when is Photobooth coming back?" it denigrates their efforts. You are not at a restaurant; you cannot send anything that displeases you back to the kitchen.

If someone wants to volunteer to figure out how to upgrade the Photobooth skin from efiction 2.0 to 3.0, while also fixing the myriad problems that we had with the skin, please feel free to volunteer. Otherwise, give it a frickin' rest.

Yes, the artwork is beautiful, and we love Twinkly for giving it to us. Yes, we want to have a skin with the Photobooth artwork again. Yes, it is being worked on, in between other projects that take priority. No, we cannot make it appear overnight. No, we don't owe you anything. No, it's not okay to 'just mention' it, because it's been 'just mentioned' enough to drive me to drink, and I'm not the one on the receiving end of the criticism.

In short: Cut Lyndsie some slack! She's doing the best she can, and deserves better than to have people harping on a trivial issue that just happens to involve difficulty in fixing.

You guys need a dollar for every time someone brings up The Skin.

Yay money! :P

elyaeru @ Jul 07, 2007 04:54 am

Thanks Myn! It was getting a little old. Maybe this will help stop people from asking.

BTW, for everyone who cares (never mind I've said this quite a few times already), Cinnamon Badge is working on the skin. And as I said three news posts back, at the risk of sounding rude, don't ask me again.

Did someone fix the red in the Blanket skin? Because it's perfect now and I'm totally loving it!

Rainpuddle @ Jul 07, 2007 05:31 am

Sorry... *feels ashamed* in my defense i had no idea people were asking so much when i mentioned it a few days ago. I feel like i was the straw that broke the camels back... hehe

StormyBliss @ Jul 08, 2007 04:52 am

Mynuet, I totally offer my services in fixing the photobooth skin. It was my absolute favorite. :D I'm also pretty good with computers if I do say so myself. *blushes*

So, if you need the help, I gladly volunteer myself.

actionwothought @ Jul 08, 2007 10:07 am

I'm so sorry for making one of those comments. I know that you guys all work extremely hard and it is inexcusable that people, myself included, give you this kind of grief over something as trivial as a skin.

Nevermindme @ Jul 08, 2007 11:21 am

*bites her lower lip and stares at the floor suddenly finding her toes very interesting indeed*
sorry....I second StormyBliss, in fact I mentioned it because I thought everyone had forgotten about it....I am ashamed.
Oh dear, now you're going to ask everybody to stop apologizing because I am the third one to do so I think! Love you guys, we really do love what you've done with the site, its amazing!

Mynuet - I worked up the two Snitch skins, so I'll see what I can come up with to do a re-vamp of the photoboth (considering how so many people liked it). But I feel your pain Lyndsie!

Foreveress @ Jul 09, 2007 05:55 am

I may have contributed to the Photobooth drama. But I was really talking about the one in the forums. In the Archive I really love the Valentine one because as Myn said: black on white makes the reading easier. But I do love the others, right now I have the BW Snitch and I find the display really well. I thank all the ladies that work FOR FREE in theses skins because they do a wonderful job and most of the time we don´t acknowledge it.

I really don't think that anyone meant to be annoying when suggesting that Photobooth be brought back. It seems to me that individuals have independently expressed their desire to see the skin updated. I think that this topic could have been better handled in a more tactful manor. But now it is done and we all know. It is just hard for the average reader to know how many suggestions are coming in and about what. I feel that with a posting like this, people will be hesitant to alert you of concerns or questions. Personally I shy away because I figure someone else will do it. That is not always the case, however. I don't want to be on the receiving end of Mynuets wrath in any case.

CourtneyFaith @ Jul 09, 2007 01:21 pm

CourtneyFaith, I understand where you're coming from on this one. I hope no one feels hesitant to ask questions or give feedback. That said, most of the recent annoyance on my part has come from the last few news posts, and thusly was not really 'independent'.

Lyndsie @ Jul 09, 2007 02:16 pm

I think all the artwork is great! Ease up people!

Jacquelyn Monet @ Jul 10, 2007 07:51 am

Is there a list of the old skins that used be used on here anywhere? I'd like to have a look at the artwork one was called Slytherins Bride I think I know I asked once already I just have a hankering to see them.

Aphrodite @ Jul 10, 2007 09:46 am

If I remember correctly, the art for that was done by Megh, and I'm not sure if she has it posted somewhere else. I have it saved on my computer because I'll be doing something with it, but don't know if it's online anywhere.

Lyndsie @ Jul 10, 2007 10:05 am

I loved the Valentine one, it was one of my favorites, but as my choosen skin leaves, I find another one, and I start to like it as well. While I did love the Photobooth one, I am currently using Blanket and it is nice to have a change. Plus it is really pretty and I like the way the colors blend. I absolutely love Blanket!!! Anyway, good job to everyone doing this. Oh, and in the fall, I am being hired by my school to help with the website, and I will be going through some training for that, so if there is anything that I can ever do for you after my training, just let me know.
