What I mean to say is, take an example. Say one author updates 4 times in one month, and gets 1000 hits for the 4 chapters, and the most hits for any one chapter being 350. And another author updated once in the month and had 500 hits for that chapter. Which one ends up being first? I think if you just use the total of 1000 hits/mth, then lots of great one-shots may lose out to chaptered fics that way. Just wondering =) @ Mar 04, 2005 05:12 pm Hits overall. This does end up being weighted towards chaptered fics, because the main page of the fic where you then choose which chapter to go to ends up getting hits for all of the chapters posted. In your example, the chaptered fic with 350 hits per chapter would "score" higher. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about this without creating a lot of work for myself, which I don't think I can take on without giving something else up. As it is, even with all the help from the wonderful members of the Cabal, my own fic production has plummetted due to the added time demands of running the archive, and I'm selfish enough not to want to expand it so much that I don't get to do any writing at all.
