D/G Classics Voting!

So, remember how I asked y'all to nominate D/G classics?

My God, when I ask for nominations, y'all deliver. 113 long and completed fics and 65 short ones. I don't feel it's fitting for me to cut down the list, because some of the nominated fics are not what I would consider "classics", but that's such a subjective judgment that I don't think it should be up to me. So, all of the fics nominated are available to be voted on.

If you have a Livejournal account, go
HERE to vote for the long and completed stories, and
HERE to vote for the short stories.

If you don't have a Livejournal account, you can either create one here for free, or you can send me an email at dgclassicvoting [at] gmail [dot] com. The voting period will be open at least until the 26th, but it may extend a few days depending on when I have the time and energy to sort through all of the absentee ballots. The winners will be the ones who get the most votes, period; vote for as many or as few as you like.

There's a whole lot of stories that I'd never heard of, and I'm pretty widely read when it comes to D/G, so it's worth checking out just for the list of links, I think. I'm sorry I couldn't come up with a way to have the voting be completely separate from Livejournal, but it just got way too complicated to try to figure out a way.

I'm sure this will end up getting me kicked off this site but IMHO this is a popularity contest, not a true D/G classic's list.
If it was these stories would all be at leat 3-4 years old. And nothing written in the last 1 year to 18 months would even be considered.
The idea of "classic" is a story that has been around almost since the beginning. Moby Dick, Jane Eyre they are classics. They have stood the test of time.
In your own words "There's a whole lot of stories that I'd never heard of, and I'm pretty widely read when it comes to D/G" that comment tells the whole story.
The fics nominated should be the same way.
Of course this is your site, your list, your rules, but I won't be using it for any kind of reference.

I don't know whether or not I'd be allowed to make this comment, as I didn't even nominate when I had the opportunity... I was just wondering where on earth all of Rainpuddle's stories have gone on the nominated list?!?! They most definately deserve a "classic" status, don't they?
You can gladly remove this comment if it's not appropriate here, just wanted to express my reaction to my first read-through of the list.

No, the only thing I kick people out for is being nasty to the Cabal members, and I actually agree; a lot of the fics nominated had me scratching my head and going "But..." I just didn't feel like I should dictatorially declare that fics I didn't care for shouldn't be on the list. I also didn't nominate anything, on the same principle that this should be a more democratic list and not "What Mynuet Likes".

Which I should have rethought, because I also think it's a crying shame that Rainpuddle's fics aren't on there. The only one someone else nominated was the "And Baby Makes Three" series, which I couldn't put up because it's not finished. If I had thought about it I would have damned the impartiality thing and just nominated Draco's Horrible, No Good Bad Day, which may be recent but I think is absolutely fabulous. :(

Oh, well. I think after the voting is all done for this, the democratic version of the classics list, there will be the "What Mynuet Likes" version.

I know I should have nominated it while I had ta chance but I didn't think. I wish that we had Mynuet's Selfish up there. Also, there is some long fics up in the short fics category and one of the fics up there is unfinished. Wickedly Delicious by Black Pearl is seemingly unfinished and abandoned since the author hasn't updated in a year, but in the author notes it says that there was a next part to it.

Selfish is up there, I think in the long fics. I realized after the polls went up that I had miscategorized some fics, but unfortunately there's no way to edit polls without losing all the votes. :/

Wickedly Delicious was finished, though; like Draco Sinister, it was a single, separately archived installment of a several fic series.
