Awww...that's sad. I was hoping they'd end up together. *crushed* Ah well. It's still very very very very well written. You're an incredible writer.

I can only say one thing in this review....write more please. I have been behind my desk (not working) and reading your stories all day. Not enough though. Get a move on.

yea i have to agree with other reviewers... kill the wife off. or better yet, make it like an affair, and he decides he has to leave his wife and theres this big scandel, but in the end theyre together like they should be :)

I just finished reading all you fics instead of doing my work. I absolutely love you're style of writing and you're ideas are quite original. This fic was particularly sad. (I want this cecile dead too by the way) I also love how your "chapters" are short and sweet. Bravo! Wee!

Lovely. Very angsty and brillant. I love that Ginny has backbone and didn't cave in the end. The character of Draco seems complex and well written. Good job!

kill the useless wife and go on with the story, please!!!

Author's Response: Okay, that's two for a dead wife. Any others? I think this might be the beginning of a trend. Hmmm...

We'll chat once I get done with finals! I'm sure if you wanted to this could be made into a serious epic fic. It'll be great and I'll help in any way I can! Talk to you soon!

This is really sad, but great! I wish Cecile would sucumb to some terrible disease and a few years later, Ginny would bump into him in the bookstore or something. that would be good because then they could still be pining for each other for a few more years.

Author's Response: Wicked. Wicked. Wicked. I love it. I am leaving this story open for now because I enjoyed writing part 2 even more than part 1. After part 1, I never intended to write another line, EVER. But then inspiration struck... That was a revelation to me. So I will definitely keep your plot line in the back of my mind and let it stew awhile. If anything happens, you'll see it posted! Thanks for your review and your wicked suggested plot twists.

I'm so glad you posted this chapter. It was very sad too, but I think I really needed to hear both sides of the story. I feel sorry for Cécile, and found it shockingly realistic that Draco should settle for her... And that their relationship/story should be so simple and so unlike the one he had with Ginny. I love the story so far. (you should write more if you so desire!) Very sad, very beautiful. And the ending was somewhat comforting. (gah, you have managed to make me feel both incredibly sad and incredibly happy and relieved as well!)

Author's Response: Thanks for hanging in there with me through the whole story! I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback. It's just wonderful when I get a review like this. I know you absolutely understood what I was trying to convey, esp. with the whole Cecile thing.

Oh wow. That was so heart-wrenching. You are very talented, I look forward to more of your work.

Author's Response: All I can say, honestly, is thanks for digging deep to find and read it. Its Cabal approval got delayed (I think angst is not so fashionable.) until the story was pushed off the front of the website before it was posted. Just 20 hits so far compared to over 800 for part 1 - a bit discouraging. I'm glad you found it as heart-wrenching as I intended it to be. I just posted a new fic, Quidditch, which is a little experimental foray (for me) into something lighter, snarkier, and a little bit humorous. Some may question whether the same author actually wrote the two stories, but I did and would love to hear your comments. Cheers!

Author's Response: Thanks!

I knew it wouldn't be a happy ending, because that would ruin the whole story, but I still hoped, just a little bit, lol. I loved how dense they both were, and the whole thing was realistic, except maybe the part about Draco marrying a clerk. Really good writing, and you made it so easy to hate Cecile! Lol! Good job!

Very nice, you have a great writing style, and the story is good, realistic! Good job!

I like the story, a sequel will be just as good I suspect. I, like someone else, thought that I would actually be seeing a letter in which someone wrote someone else. But, I still liked it and, even if I am more of a happy ending type of girl, I liked the sadness of this one, it was more real life, people can relate to it somewhat. Anyway, great job. Keep doing good!! Christine

No! No alternate eding. Leave it as it is. They shared something intense and consuming and he went off and married someone else when Ginny didn't take his proposal at face value. Leave it be. It's brilliant and sad. Don't let the "Happily Ever After" people wear you down to change it. Keep it as it, to do so would be as bad as watching the happy ending version of the movie "Brazil."

Author's Response: What a great review! Thanks! I was thinking exactly like you when I wrote the first part of The Letter. No way was I going to do any sort of sequel with a happy ending. NO WAY, but then I found myself writing part two late one night, despite my better judgement... I won't give away part two, but suffice it to say, I think you should definitely give it a whirl and let me know what you think. I don't think you will be disappointed!

I really liked this fic very much! It would be nice to have more of it, but not if it's not going to end happily--because if I have to get a sad ending, then I'll stick with this one. I like your Ginny, for she is strong, and passionate, and so honest, and vengeful. I'm going off to read your other fic, now, but I'll have to think about whether I read what you follow up this one-shot with...

It's not that I'm unhappy with the ending, I just think it has a ton of potential to be a really angst epic. I think it's brilliantly done and I'm fairly certain I left you quite a lengthy review last time I read this attesting to that fact. Anyway, I hope you continue it. I'm sure it will be brilliant.

That was beautiful. I would definitely be interested in reading the alternative ending though. Who did Draco marry though?

Author's Response: The sequel, which I just posted, should explain all that. Would love to hear what you think of the wife.

I would love to see a sequal from Draco's POV. I think it was really good, and it gave me a bit of a plot bunny.

I can tell you from experience as this story is almost the story of my life with one such romance, it hurts like hell. It is damn near impossible to get over and you feel like you're going to die the whole time. This story has multiple possiblities for being a serious chapter epic if you wanted to make it that. The possibilities are endless. Was this something you experienced personally or something that came purely from you imagination? It was really well written and true to life (amazing for a work of fanfiction) either way.

This was a melancholy little tale...at least for me, I expected to actually read a letter, but this was different (in a good way)...it was sad, but then it's almost always sad to reflect upon a lost love. Nice little story.

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. Surprised to hear you were looking for an actual letter. Interesting.
Name: ramon reviewed The Letter on Apr 24, 2005 04:54 pm
good concept even though it was a little difficult to follow at times, sad ending but guess thats how it had to be... unlesss ud like to make a sequal?

Author's Response: Sorry to hear you found it confusing. I just posted the sequel last night so it should be up and viewable soon.
