This is going to sound odd, but after I read batgirl801 and jezawin's reviews that all the links to "Send Fudge" are dead - I went on an online hunt for it. The only place I found it was on a Portuguese HP Fanfic site. Author's Response: The short version is that Cassandra Claire plagiarized large chunks of her fandom claim to fame, and there was a lot of fannish wankery about it between people who supported her and everyone else. The Bad Penny posts lay out the details - was there any kind of specific question you had?

Send Fudge by Annibug is no longer listed at that yahoo group. I am not sure it is archived anywhere. It was one of my favorites.

Great collection of fics. Just one thing to mention, the story, the Serpent's Bride, with the link its on, appears all crazy, with formatting errors. The same story is archived of ff.net in better quality.

Hi--Reading the reviews for this, I wanted to add my two cents. Of course you shouldn't have put RfA on the list when it didnt' make the cut; I think mostly we are whining about the fact that more people didn't vote for it, not that you didn't put it on there.
I was wondering if it would be possible, at some point, to add the summaries for these fics. That way, anyone who hadn't read some of them could pick and choose with a little guidance.

But I have to agree with everyone who's brooding over Rising From Ashes. It is my favorite peice of fanfiction to date, and I have a strong feeling that none will surpass it. And that's saying something bc I've got another ship I'm passionate about, but RFA overrules the rest. It is the only peice of fanfiction (i'm a dedicated shipper :D) that lies on my bookshelf. Yes, I printed out the whole thing including The More is My Unrest.

Great list, but really, Rising from Ashes is essential to any real DG fan. NO, it doesn't have a happy ending but the eloquence and emotion is amazing. It could've been canon.

Author's Response: Rising From Ashes came in in 30th place with 47 votes. I was surprised it came in that low, but I didn't, and still don't, think it would be fair to put it in when nine fics that outscored it didn't.

Thanks for putting the list together, and compiling the results, etc. Just like you need to read canon before you can write in a fandom, you totally need to read the fanon canon, so this will help educate D/G newbies everywhere! I've been writing D/G for almost two years now, and there's more than half of the list that I haven't even heard of before, so I'm going to have to do some 'educational reading' to brush up on my fanon!

Thanks everyone for your support! I'm actually kind of suprised/not surprised I didn't make the cut. I'm surprised, because I thought my story was pretty good, but I'm not surprised, because it hasn't been around too long. I hope that doesn't make me appear arrogant or anything! I've just had an overwhelming response, lol. Every day, I still get at least 3-5 e-mails from total strangers, and everyone has been very exceedingly wonderful. You know what? That's enough for me. I've made people happy.

Argh. There are a LOT of great fics on that list, but...no Rising from Ashes? Personally, I wonder if the D/G mega-fandom would even exist if RfA didn't. I guess it's just another example of how democracy really can fail. I'm also disappointed about Before the Storm, but I guess that hasn't been around for too long, and hasn't been read by so many people.
