Okay, I have to know, do you self-edit, or do you just let word do it for you? Not to be offensive, but your spelling and grammar in some places is atrocious. Maybe you could try and read the chapters out loud before you post them or something, just to make sure they sound right. Sorry, but I'm a grammar freak... must be because I read too much... just trying to be helpful... just edit it better...

Why would it not be safe for children? UK laws have building codes that would ensure safety. Wizards, if they wanted the look of a free floating steps, would also incorporate safety spells.
A split staircase would naturally require two safety gates at both entries at the top of the stairs. That is no big deal at all.
Author's Response: Children are quite good at wandering out of sight. Falling down or up stairs could be harmful to them. Harry was simply looking out for the Weasley grandchildren. Draco was too caught up in hearing Harry speak of children to answer properly. If he hadn’t been sidetracked he may have mentioned these spells, or maybe he wouldn't have.
