lol. That 'acting' scene had me rolling on the floor, and it's nice to get to know a little more about Pierce. He's truly an interesting character.

LOVELY BIT OF WRITING, LOVE!
Name: iReader reviewed Slytherin Ethics on Jul 13, 2007 03:28 pm
I have to say that I'm quite disappointed with this chapter, mainly because of how you chose to write it. The idea of Ginny and Draco serving detention together is great. Two complete opposites who hate each other in every forced to cooperate with each other to get a job done. Sounds like a similar situation with Draco and Harry in the first book.

But there's a problem. The two hardly seem to hate each other. In fact, they seem to enjoy each other's presence in a way. Draco hoping to catch a glimpse of Ginny's soft skin and Ginny unknowingly feeling entertained by his actions.

That just doesn't add up in any way whatsoever. One second these two are face to face with wands at each other's heads, both prepared to curse the heck out of each other, the next they're getting along like old chums that just had a little fight?

Grant it, Draco is obviously having trouble with where his allegiance lies at the moment and that is very clear to some. But this isn't the observing and clever Hermione that would be able to pick up on something like that. This is the stubborn Ginny who is in love with Harry, who happens to hate Draco (for good reason as far as their concerned). Why in the world would someone like Ginny suddenly warm up to him? I'm afraid to think that the fact that this site being about Draco and Ginny romance has distracted you from carrying on a more realistic atmosphere between the two. In all honesty, the only thing that gives me hope to read further is your previous story Misconceptions.

The way you made Draco, how he could hide his emotions behind his "mask", and Ginny, how stubborn yet quite witty. Those were amazing characters that you so masterfully made come together gradually. I don't see that here, as in one chapter suddenly we have Draco admiring Ginny's body, smiling more than once, and putting moves on Ginny for something that really wasn't that important. Let's face it, Draco did what he did for more than the simple reason of getting some whistle that would help him be more efficient in detention, of all things. Not to mention how surprised I was to see Draco actually let Ginny off the hook earlier when he was "patrolling."

Perhaps I'm being unfair, though. Maybe you're intentionally making a different kind of Draco? That really seems to be the only logical explanation for his actions, but at the same time, I don't see there being reason for the change as he was so brilliant in your other story. They both were.

Other than that, the story is great so far.I look forward to what you have in store for it.

Chapter 3

OMG!

I was so delighted by the small scene at the border of the Forbidden forest! What make me wonder is why Draco actually cared enough to show his point to Ginny about professor Pierce.
And I’m so proud of him and of his cunning brain… he didn’t fell to the little act of the Professor, as instead did Ginny, and it’s a good thing.

Even if I dare say that even Pierce should have known that. So, why he still act all friendly and buddy-buddy with students? Unless he knows something we don’t know.
And it was amazing to see how Draco wrapped Ginny around his finger, without actually trying it. Everybody would have seen he was acting, just to show her that Slytherin can be good actors, but she actually believe him. Maybe because he mentioned Harry and her brother (and how comes he knows just this much about who Ginny hangs on?), so her guard was a bit off?

And, I think Draco’s reasoning about Slytherin was quite brilliant. And I can tell you that this is what I think too about that house. Maybe Slytherin aren’t the best person around: they are vicious and cruel, but at least you know they are honest. And before you disagree… they are honest being always what thy are: plotting, vindictive and cruel. You know always what to expect from them and that they follow only their personal goals. And you always know that the most important thing to the is just… themselves.

And then she repeated again, “You’re not one of them.”

As I thought… the poor Pierce isn’t really a perfect Slytherin. That’s even why he didn’t like the dungeons so much and he still doesn’t like them. And so, I ask you again: why is he a death eater? Does he really believe in a side with a master with such a silly name?

And, how could he really kill his mother?! I’m so shocked about this!

This man is really strange. He’s not emotionless, not like Malfoy senior, and he can’t out aside his guilty feelings. But he still want to be with the dark side. Why? What does he want to prove?

He’s not evil, he has a conscience. And he isn’t able to come to terms with it. In this way, he’s going to be destroyed by it… how can’t he realize this?

Btw, I love this character. There’s more to him than I thought at the beginning, even if I still think his behaviour is too odd to be believable in certain moments. And… a smiling Slytherin?! I’m still shocked!

“If you were anyone else, I would be forced to use an Unforgivable for that mouth.”

*gasp*
Snape, doing exception? Okay, he did all the time with Slytherin, but this is another matter altogether.
And… what does he mean?!
And, why he is asking him to actually do something with Draco? Snape really wants him to join the dark side?

Btw, he’s as clever as ever… and his suggestion about giving to the boy something to care for? Why I have this weird feeling about this?

Snape’s eyebrows furrowed over a deep frown, and he was quiet a very long time. “It’s a dangerous game you play,” he said finally.

“And what game would that be, Severus?”

“Advancing so high in his ranks when it’s painfully obvious you hold so little loyalty for him.”
br>

I love this exchange. Because you give us more hints to understand what’s happening. And I can almost see why Snape has this strange behaviour with Pierce. What I can’t really understand is why the two of them are so near, since they are going only to lose by this partnership: Snape was a double agent (and I think he’s still one of them), and Pierce is… well, I don’t know. He doesn’t believe in Voldemort, but he still follows him. Quite a twisted mind, let me say that!

Yeah, they are friends. And Snape actually cares for him… so much that he’s still trying to teach him something. What is going to happen if Pierce learn the lesson?

And… yeah, you gave us some explanations. But, I have even more questions now!

I'm so intrigued by your story. You've incorporated the 6th book in so well. Excellent stuff.

I'm loving this story so much. One of my favorite things in the world is a good original character, and you've created one in spades.
Name: imelda reviewed Slytherin Ethics on Jul 26, 2006 06:43 am
Wow. Ok, where to start? Let's go in order. First off, the scene in the woods between D/G. Draco was amazing!! I am so proud of him for not trusting/liking Pierce. And, of course, I liked seeing the beginnings of some attraction between the two. And the trick Draco played on Ginny was perfectly done. I love that boy.

THEN there was Jonathon. What an interesting character. I was all set to hate him after that scene where, you know, he kind of killed his mother. His mother who seemed pretty wonderful, at that. So I'm pretty disgusted. But there's still an appeal, especially with this revelation that he's not loyal to LV. So I'm really interested in seeing where that's going. Where HE is going, character-wise.

Lastly, I'm worried about Snape's advice--"give him something to care about." Oh, dear. Is Ginny going to get sucked into this that way? Poor girl.

Oh, how devious of him.
Name: Embellished reviewed Slytherin Ethics on Jul 21, 2006 06:52 pm
Hmm. Draco's and Jonathon's personalities are starting to come out. I love it that Draco doesn't trust Jonathon, and the way he manipulated Ginny. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Thanks for the update!

Woohoo... great stuff... can't wait for more.
Name: Phaedra7veils reviewed Slytherin Ethics on Jul 21, 2006 03:01 pm
The little lesson that Draco taught Ginny was perfect, although it will be interesting to see how that backfires on him. The story of Pierce killing his mother was bloodchilling, and Snape's conversation with him was very interesting. Excellent story.
