Fantastic as usual. I just found this story yesterday, completely by accident. I loved Misconceptions and recently read the whole thing over again (much to my mother's dismay... I didn't get 'round to doing the house work as she had wanted me to), so I was naturally ecstatic when I saw that you had a new story up.

It''s really interesting to see the interaction between Pierce and Draco. It seems as though Draco knows that something is going on (though it could just be his instinctively suspicious nature) and it's going to be quite fun to watch him try to sort it out.

The bit with Pansy and Draco was quite interesting as well. I do hope we will eventually find out precisely what went on during the summer that made him change his mind.

Do keep writing more chapters!

Love the story! Can't wait to read more!

I like the emerging theme of control--both Draco and Pierce have a great deal of it, and Ginny doesn't, but I suspect that will change on all counts as the story progresses. I'm looking forward to finding out where you go with it. Thanks for the update!

Ha! Your Draco is fantastic! I love the way he's vexing Jonathon, and the fact that he now hates Draco is *really* amusing. Pierce is a big fat liar, not that there's anything wrong with that (within fanfiction, of course). But he didn't do anything very endearing in this chapter, which is sad, because I like seeing him at his most charming manipulative self.

Draco and Ginny continue to have a great rapport (or rather, their lack of rapport is great), and I'm really enjoying the way they antagonize each other. I can't wait to see this relationship develop into something else!

And now there are no chapters left...update soon, please plz plz!!!

Wow. Ok, where to start? Let's go in order. First off, the scene in the woods between D/G. Draco was amazing!! I am so proud of him for not trusting/liking Pierce. And, of course, I liked seeing the beginnings of some attraction between the two. And the trick Draco played on Ginny was perfectly done. I love that boy.

THEN there was Jonathon. What an interesting character. I was all set to hate him after that scene where, you know, he kind of killed his mother. His mother who seemed pretty wonderful, at that. So I'm pretty disgusted. But there's still an appeal, especially with this revelation that he's not loyal to LV. So I'm really interested in seeing where that's going. Where HE is going, character-wise.

Lastly, I'm worried about Snape's advice--"give him something to care about." Oh, dear. Is Ginny going to get sucked into this that way? Poor girl.

OK, way creepy. There's got to be something off about that candle...it's got me worried. But it's also interesting, because it sort of fits in with the title, right? Ginny's fate is sort of tied in with Harry, certainly not Draco.

You know what's frightening? I actually like Jonathon Pierce. A lot.

Oooh...chapter 1, fantastic ending. I'm glad Ginny finally whipped out her wand, because I was getting a bit impatient with her questions! I thought she ought to be a lot angrier (and more aggressive) than just asking why he wasn't taking points. And suddenly...she was! Can't wait to read on, now. I'm guessing this is the evil Pierce who's interrupted them?

I am thrilled that this story is getting updated at a nice brisk pace. Your Pierce character is fantastic. And, Draco is really interesting - he seems like he has gotten wisdom and has put all his obvious talents and observational skills into protecting himself rather than getting the best of other people or trying to impress his dad and Voldemort. It doesn't seem OOC b/c he seems incredibly Slytherin still. More than ever.

Ginny is all Fiery Temper! in your first four chapters. But, I think you did a great job of giving her a way to calm down, reflect, and look at Draco without just immediately getting pissed off. When she is not fighting with Draco, she is really such a sweetie.

Looking forward to their next interaction.

Brilliant chapter..

I know that this is not related to the story, but u hit the nail on the head with ur depiction of the indifferent teacher... LOL I am sure that more than one of us has some one like him at some point of time.

Oh, how devious of him.

Hmm. Draco's and Jonathon's personalities are starting to come out. I love it that Draco doesn't trust Jonathon, and the way he manipulated Ginny. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Thanks for the update!

The little lesson that Draco taught Ginny was perfect, although it will be interesting to see how that backfires on him. The story of Pierce killing his mother was bloodchilling, and Snape's conversation with him was very interesting. Excellent story.

It is nice to see a new story from you. I am looking forward to seeing just how manipulative the new professor is, and just how dangerous this candle will turn out to be (it reminds me a little of the Mirror of Erised).

Hey, I really like this story. A lot of people seem to have been thrown by HBP and Dumbledore's death, but you're doing well writing a believable story. I love Pierce...he just seems too nice to be a Death Eater. Although, that's the point, I suppose. Update soon!

Oh, so cool! Another great story from HC!(bounces up and down excitedly.) I look forward to lots and lots more. It's fascinating to see Ginny left behind at Hogwarts with Draco, because I think it's very realistic as far as the way she would react, and also that Harry would have left her behind. (Although I certainly do hope that Ginny and Harry didn't have sex. Dear God, please, no.)

Jonathan Pierce is a very interesting character. I like his sense of ridiculousness with regards to Voldemort. Nice touch. I'm fascinated to see what the candle brings Ginny.
