HA HA!
Ok well I gotta say it, technically Schadenfreude means "gloating" when translated from German to English. I've been taken German for seven years. But I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO love the Avenue Q reference, Schadenfreude is my favorite song from the musical.
Loved this story, it was written well, not like your stories arn't. I loved how scarcastic this was, this was how I was feeling all this Christmas season, thanks for putting it into such a great DG story.
Author's Response: Well, since you gotta say it, I guess I should say back. ;) Gloating is a verb, and therefore is an inexact translation of Schadenfreude, which is a noun. Further, gloating means bragging, and does not necessarily imply anything about another's status or accomplishments; as an example, I could gloat because I'm graduating cum laude, without any reference to whether others are graduating with lower or higher GPAs. As you can see, that would leave out a large and vital part of what the word Schadenfreude conveys.rnrnAnd now to cite sources, like a good history major. According to m-w.com, the etymology is that "Schaden" means damage and "Freude" means joy; their definition is "enjoyment obtained from the troubles of others." While what I said was a paraphrase, I stand by my definition as being the correct one in the given context.
Aw! That was really cute. Thanks for the wonderful Christmas present!
That was both original and entertaining. I
I love the snarky tone of this story. It's such a different spin on the xmas theme.
MY favorite line:
You magnificent bitch goddess.
How wonderful.
I enjoyed the entire piece over all, but I can't stop chuckling when I picture Draco delivering that line.
Very enjoyable, thank you!
Hehe, I love that last line. Trust Draco to find the loop-hole in Ginny's statement.
I really enjoyed reading this story, not only as it's a fun Christmas fic, but also because unlike many others it has a believable plot behind it all. Ginny & Draco's presents for one another were great. I particularly liked the pitch-fork in the necklace. :)
All in all, it was a lovely story to read and I'm sure I'll be re-reading it again, as the D/G interaction was great.
Wishing you a belated Merry Christmas! :)
Heee Heee. Very amusing, Shar! ;)
Ha! I loved it not only because it was a great story but also because Draco works in the same department I do...but I'm sure his AP is much more fun than mine.
~Really Really Cute. I just love Christmas stories.~
Bravo. What a treat. Especially loved the two mistresses, the "Don't touch my property, Weasel," and the ending.
I don't blame them for amusing themselves with all the silly merry makers. I love devious!Ginny and Draco. Completely adorable. *happy sigh*
