This is the first time I begun to even remotely like JKR's awful epilogue.
You have captured Astoria's emotions so well that she became very much alive in just 700+ words and told a touching story.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad I could help with that, I had the same problem for months after I read it too. I'm glad Astoria became alive, I wanted to make her real while focusing on Draco and Ginny. I'm glad you enjoyed the story :)

This is excellent. The last sentence is very strong, and captures the despair and maybe the contempt Astoria must feel perfectly. Very well done!

Author's Response: Yes! That is exactly what I was going for! :) I almost called this story the Gryffindor, just because I wanted to maximize on the contempt. I don't think Astoria is a bad person, but I think she would be extremely put out with Ginny for being such a coward and putting them all in such a mess, particularly because she's such a proud Gryffindor. I don't think Astoria's necessarily being fair or looking at it from all points of view, but I do think her feelings would be, justifiably, mingled pity and anger for the situation. I'm glad you enjoyed the fic, thank you for the great review. :)

wow. that was extremely painful to read but in a good way..you know?? i just felt the emotion behind it. well done :]

Author's Response: Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Balancing the emotion in this piece was not easy. Thanks for our kind review :)

This was a beautiful yet amazingly heartbreaking story from the point of view that I'm still getting used to. I adored the bit about his smile fading every morning; Astoria is a strong woman to put up with that for all those years. As a few other reviewers have said, it fits perfectly into the epilogue (spit) that we were forced to suffer through. Wonderful work.

Author's Response: Thank you. I didn't want to make Astoria a villain, but I also wanted to make it very D/G. Her personality came to me when I tried to imagine the type of woman who could provide a clear look at all their lives 19 years later. I agree with you on the Epliogue, I feel like Ginny was twisted beyond recognition in the 7th book and even the last chapter of the 6th. I glad you enjoyed the fic so much, thank you for the great review! :)

I really love this story and all these D/A fics are really making me more accepting of the ending...lol...

Author's Response: Well, I wouldn't call this D/A, exactly, as I am an unwavering D/G fan. lol, I will never accept the ending the way it is in book 7. I have been actively searching for fics that stay fully compliant and tell a different story. Ginny in the books is just too acquiescent in the end, it bothers me. I'm glad you enjoyed this, thanks for the review :)

how sad is that.
beautiful piece of yours, congrats!!
:*

Author's Response: Thank you. It always makes a writer giddy to have her work called "beautiful," I appreciate it. :)

OMG, it was beautifully tragic. I loved it!!! Please write another one soon. Oh, poor Ginny, Draco, and Astoria. Oh, please, please write again soon. This is definitely one of, if not my favorite, of your stories. I need to go back and re-read them all again!!!

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it so much. I definitely think all three are very sympathetic characters living unfulfilling lives. Of my stories, this took the longest to write, so I'm not really sure what that means. I won't have time to write for a bit, but I do have some ideas that I'll hopefully be able to put on paper. Thanks for your great review, as always :)

*sniffs* Wah! I normally don't say it but poor Astoria! I kinda wish, just this once, that Draco loved her back, just a bit.

Author's Response: lol, yes, I feel pretty bad for Astoria in this one too. Although...I'm still not so sure that she loves Draco. I supposed I'm as undecided as she is, hahaha. I definitely think she's been put in a very hard, unfair, situation though.

Short, and angsty. Poetic, really. I loved it. I loved how it was told from Astoria's point of view. Lovely job!

Author's Response: Yes, I didn't want it to become a pity party. Just a glimpse into a moment that tells the story of 19 years :D I'm glad you liked it, thank you for reviewing.

I love a good bit of angst =)

Author's Response: Me too :D I'm glad you liked the fic, thank you for reviewing!

I like it. I can't really express how except that it's emotional. It shows the emotions between them. :)

Author's Response: Thank you, that's really what I was hoping to do. I'm glad you liked it :)

This was a great short story, I'd love to read more....please pretty please?

Author's Response: ahhhh, I'm sorry, but I don't think so :(. If I wanted to do a sequel, it would be a long, multi-chaptered fic which I just don't have the time for at the moment. For now, I like to think their futures are still open, despite Astoria's depressing thoughts. Maybe if I time time eventually. I'm glad you enjoyed the fic though, thank you for reviewing. :)

This was really good! I love how it's completely within cannon. Any chance of a continuation?

Author's Response: I'd rather believe this is what was going on in book 7, rather than accepting the mousy chit JKR tried to pass off on us in the last chapter of book 6 and all of Deathly Hallows. Very very very little chance of a continuation, although I supposed I won't say none at all. Thank you for the review, I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

i really liked this
bittersweet fics aren't my thing but this was wonderful
i love how yo've portrayed all of the characters
especially ginny and the reference to the griffyndor courage-or lackthereof
amazing!

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you liked the fic and the portrayal of the characters. I struggled to develop each one into believable people while telling the tale from Astoria's point of view. :)

Omg! That was great! I hope you do a sequel!!

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you liked it :) Unfortunately, I don't see a sequel in the cards for this fic. In my mind, both Ginny and Astoria could still go either way in what they do in the future, and I like the open ending. But, who knows? I'm a sucker for sequels. :D

fantastically bittersweet.

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you thought so, that's exactly what I was going for :)

Now normally i'm not a review bunny, very bad of me i know. However having just read this i couldn't NOT write a review. This was quite simply one of the best short fics i've ever read. I am now sitting here with a tear in my eye thinking 'gosh, how can someone cram all that emotion into just over 700 words' and yet you've done it. So thank you. I am also hoping fervently that a sequel may be forthcoming, please?

Author's Response: Thank you! I confess, I also often forget to sign in and review, but I usually do a better job after having just put up a new story because I empathize better. Reviews are the only way I can judge how good and well liked a story is. It makes me feel absolutely amazing when you say that this compelled you to write a review. Thank you so much for leaving me such kind words, they absolutely make the writing worthwhile. Unfortunately, I don't think there is going to be a sequel to this fic, as I kinda like the open ending. Nothing is concrete though, so...maybe. I'm glad you enjoyed the story so much, thank you for leaving a review! :)

awwww this is the perfect way to explain jk's ending in that horrible epilogue. it's so sad, but so poignant. i love it!

Author's Response: hahaha, I have been actively searching for fics which explain the Epilogue. I'd rather have Ginny love and suffer than to be the faithful little twit JKR decided to turn her into in the last book. I'm glad you enjoyed my interpretation, thank you for your kind review.

Very well-written, and so heartbreaking. I like this. :)

Author's Response: Thank you. My main thought was Ginny and Draco's pain, but you really also get to like and feel for Astoria along the way. I'm glad you liked it :)

Oh wow. That was quite good. I haven't read or even considered reading a fic from Astoria's point of view. I enjoyed this, short and not so sweet, but really good all the same.

Author's Response: Thank you. I hadn't considered Astoria's point of view either until I read black_alnair's fic, which is Ginny's point of view when the three of them come face-to-face. Then I wondered how Draco must feel, then I sort of stumbled into how jealous Astoria would feel seeing her husband and his former lover if they were obviously still in love. The story took over from there. I'm glad you enjoyed. :)
