Laura Elspeth Madley

Birthdate: March 11, 1983
Family background: Laura's father John, met her mother, Gwendolyn, in the early eighties, and fell in love with her free-spirited attitude toward life before he knew she was a witch. Thinking that his love was just eccentric, John married Gwen and they had Laura, then a few years after that, he decided that he needed to grow up and change the world. John became an elected member of the House of Commons for Plymouth Devonport (he's a Tory) and left Laura's mother when her magic interfered with his political plans. When Laura got her Hogwarts letter, he allowed her to go, but only if she didn't use her magic in an annoying way, and never in front of his constituents. John remarried to a Muggle woman while Laura was at school; her stepmother Bridget thinks she's very odd, indeed. John is in line to become the next Speaker of the House of Commons, and he has very little use for Laura now, except when he's campaignng for re-election, or needs to have a 'daughter' for political reasons.
House in School: Hufflepuff
Bloodline (and does it matter?): Laura is a halfblood. Her father is an important member of Parliament, every inch a Muggle, and her mother is a free spirited, bohemian pureblooded witch. It matters to Laura only in where she celebrates holidays.
Political Views: Laura hates politics. Despite this, she loves her father, and will do what he asks, even if their relationship is a sham. As far as Wizarding politics, she isn't adversely affected in any way. She certainly doesn't intend to join a polical party in the Wizarding world.

Description: 5'8", 115 lbs, thick chestnut hair, and a mostly good attitude. If her smile reaches her eyes, you know that she genuinely likes you.
Psychology and Personality
Sexuality: Laura is straight, but she can't seem to keep a boyfriend. The Muggle ones are intimidated by her father, and she's lost more than one of the Wizards to her mother.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Strengths - She's loyal (go figure), generous, loves children, honestly believes that the world can be a better place, and strives to be optimistic.
Weaknesses - sometimes Laura isn't a good judge of tact, or the proper time and place for something. She tends to give into impulses, rather than thinking her actions and words through to their eventual end. He friends say that she needs a better filter.
Habits\Quirks: She can block out noise if she's concentrating on something, she likes celebrating holidays, even the little ones, likes things tidy, not a big drinker, so when she does have a cocktail, it loosens her tongue even more than usual. Her father has expressly forbidden her to have alcohol when she's with him.
Likes\Dislikes: Laura likes coffee, baking, collecting tea sets, dogs, the symphony, classic rock, the ballet, her mother's handmade dresses, working for charities, a job well done and shopping for the perfect pair of shoes. She dislikes liars, people who are not genuine, (even as she hates it, she smiles and shakes the hands of voters for her father) career politicians, interviews, campaigning, gladhanding, being judged, cats, and her stepmother's stupid hair.
Lifestyle
Occupation: She's an administrator for St. Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Laura isn't a healer, but if it has to do with paperwork, she's your girl. Payroll, Accounts Payable, Patient history charts, any liason with other magical insititutions, she can provide you with forms in triplicate and an X for which to sign.
Financial Status: Not wealthy, by any means, but comfortable.
Residence: She has a flat in Plymouth, so she can be close to her father when he needs her, and a room in her mother's townhome in London.
History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time: Laura Left Hogwarts with a respectable amount of OWLS, and then attended the University of Bristol, much to her father's dismay. She graduated early, and found a good job at St. Mungos. At her father's behest, she sits of the board of directors for several Muggle charities, including Children in Need, and Women's Aid, but also a few Wizarding ones as well. She particularly enjoys her work for the St. Mungos Pediatric Foundation, and goes to the children's sick ward whenever her job allows. Laura is currently dating Seamus Finnegan.
