E Pur Si Muove - And Yet It Moves

E Pur Si Muove - Our Methods

We do things a certain way here at Si_Muove. Here is a brief rundown on how we speak to one another and how we play the game.

TO CHAT

So once you have your characters and have submitted all the information and applications to the correct places, then comes the fun part. We use several different Instant Messenger Services (IMs) to communicate with each other! It's faster than email, and a ton of fun. Try it and you'll be hooked.

There are four that are used commonly. YIM (Yahoo), AIM (AOL) MSN (Microsoft) and Google Chat, all download-able though any of their home pages. YIM and AIM Are probably the most often used. I for one, have an instant messenger manager called Trillian that houses them all (Except Google) so that I only have to open one program for all my instant messengers, and it shows me which contacts are online for each and who is available to chat. It's awfully useful to have everyone around in this way,if you need a character to drop in your scene for just a line or two, you can pop over, ping them and ask quickly. Fun!

Once you're chatting, then it's time to write with these people!

TO WRITE

The easiest and best way to share a document with another person is Google Docs. By going to Google, you just scroll down the list of options until you find Documents. You'll have to sign up with an email account and have a password, but having a gmail account is unnecessary. (Although I love mine. :D) Once you do, you're all set. By using the menu on the top of the Google Docs BETA page, you can:

  • Upload Word documents, OpenOffice, RTF, HTML or text (or create documents from scratch).
  • Use the simple WYSIWYG editor to format your documents, spell-check them, etc.
  • Invite others (by e-mail address) to edit or view your documents and spreadsheets. (Click SHARE - easy!)
  • Edit documents online with whomever you choose.
  • View your documents' and spreadsheets' revision history and roll back to any version.
  • Publish documents online to the world, as Web pages or post documents to your blog.
  • Download documents to your desktop as Word, OpenOffice, RTF, PDF, HTML or zip.
  • Email your documents out as attachments.
By writing with the coding (i.e. - the little carrots < > ) in the document, it makes it super simple to post to Livejournal, which hosts our nifty little rpg.

NO FAN COMMUNITY?

Are you kidding me? *gasp* No, we're not. Carrie blames it all on Celeste, who can't be fussed to actually create a new post in order to squee like a proper fangirl. At si_muove, you can reply directly to the scenes, as you would any fic or entry on Livejournal. The only exception to this is the Owls (or letters) sent from one character to another. That might get a little confusing for some of the characters *cough*Emma*cough* if there were squees intermingled with the reply owls.

Past that, exercise your right to be lazy and hit that little 'Leave a comment' tab. Fangirling hasn't been this easy since... well since ever. :D

Any questions? I'd be more than happy to help. You may contact Carrie at muoveadmin@gmail.com.
