The Site Guidelines are as follows:

  1. ALL STORIES MUST STRONGLY FEATURE A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DRACO MALFOY AND GINNY WEASLEY. Yes, that's all caps for a reason. Yo, this is the Fire and Ice Archive. D/G is the whole point. Here we fly the flag of true love between the ferret and the girl weasel, and we're damn proud of it. If you don't like it, go away.
  2. Spelling and grammar must be acceptable. This includes your title and summary. What do we mean by acceptable? Fewer than one mistake per hundred words, and absolutely no net-speak, ever. If you're not sure whether you're making mistakes or what your mistakes are, we recommend looking for a competent beta reader. We are working on producing a page of links and advice, but in the meantime a Google search for writing tips and guidelines should put you on the right path.
  3. In case this doesn't go without saying, plagiarism is a big no-no. Yes, this is fanfiction. No, that doesn't mean you can type in a book you liked or edit someone else's fanfic and call it your own. If you borrow ideas or characters from existing books or movies, make sure proper credit is given within the author's note inside the fic. Plain and simple, if you post it you must have written it, giving credit where credit is due, and if we find you haven't, you'll be banned.
  4. Subjects covered by the warnings MUST be properly labeled. At the moment these are slash, graphic violence, sexual violence, blood, character death, incest, and bestiality. If you introduce a new squick, this will apply retroactively. We cannot stress this enough - if you don't label it properly and one of the Cabal ends up traumatized by your fic, it will get removed from the archive, once the rocking in the corner and crying is done with.
  5. All terms borrowed from the HP universe must be spelled correctly - people's names, for example, or words like "Quidditch". There's simply no excuse in fanfiction to get this one wrong. Go to the Harry Potter Lexicon to double check if you're not sure how something is spelled - and, just to save some of y'all the trip, it's Blaise Zabini, not Zambini or Zanbini or any other variant.
  6. No in-text author's notes. Put them at the beginning or the end, but not in the midst of the story. At least two members of the Cabal advocate the death penalty for violating this rule. Also, you have the capacity to respond to reviews on the reviews page. We'd appreciate if you used that feature instead of doing it in the actual chapters or in your bio.
  7. Choose the correct category. Once your work-in-progress is complete, then it can and should be moved to the more appropriate category. Don't put your story under "long and completed" if it's not actually complete.
  8. Crossovers are welcome as long as they comply with the D/G and other rules. Please make sure you specify crossover in the genre and try to put somewhere in the summary what universe you're crossing with.
  9. Technically speaking, non-D/G companion fics are not allowed. Sometimes, though, in the interests of completeness, you as an author would like to see all the parts of your fic together. Now, if someone complains or we find it on our own, this will get you into the deep kimchee. However, since we attempt to be reasonable and friendly dictators, you may submit your companion fic to the Cabal, and we will then vote on whether or not to archive it. You'll help your case for archiving by sending a polite email explaining why you think it's appropriate for this site along with the fic.
  10. A fic that has been rejected may be resubmitted once the appropriate changes have been made. Resubmitting a fic without significant changes is a waste of your time and ours, and we reserve the right to be irritated.
  11. We have a zero tolerance policy on abuse towards our Cabal members. If you feel that you have been wronged, in any way, by a member of the cabal, you can email your concern to Mynuet and she will do her best to fix the problem. If your problem is with Mynuet, you can contact another member of the Cabal, but ONLY then should complaints go to anyone else. Without the ladies of the Cabal this archive would not exist, and there is NO EXCUSE for rudeness. Cursing at, harassing, threatening, insulting, or in any way, shape or form disrespecting a member of the Cabal will be grounds for immediate deletion from the archive. We're sorry that it has come to the point that we have to spell this out, but once is too many time for this to happen, and we want to make it very, very clear that it is not acceptable. If you insist on being a spoiled brat, do so elsewhere.

If you have any problems uploading, or if you have any questions or comments, contact us. The list of current members of the Cabal is available in the help section.
