Captured

There, he saw a flash of copper
And quickly turned around to see
But alas, he could not catch her
So he just stood and watched her flee

With bright red tendrils of her hair
Flying like a flag in the breeze
She slipped around the corner there
And disappeared cool as you please

He knew he had to find the girl
For a fleeting rendezvous
To run his fingers through her curls
And tell her that his love was true

As he moved faster through the halls
His racing heart began to pound
Why wouldn’t she just heed his calls
He almost felt she’d ne’er be found

Another flash of copper then
And a soft sigh escaped his lips
His worried frown turned to a grin
Seeing the swaying of her hips

Then peeking back, she waved him on
And he put on a burst of speed
He caught her to him, he had won
She had captured his heart indeed

Now Whiskers and Cheese, (their two cats)
Watched the young couple from the door
They stretched and curled up on their mats
And watched their couple kiss some more
