Creeps Me Out
(Based on song by Ima Robot, "Creeps Me Out")

***

14 people in the club
Ima robot; what, no love?
Backstage she came rolling up
She said, "Do anything and I love ya."

Draco was getting ready for his first gig. He was a little bit nervous and very new to the whole band thing. His band members had explained it to him in detail, but he still felt a little sick.

He stuck his head out from backstage and peered at the non-existent crowd. Fourteen people. ‘At least then I won't make a complete fool of myself in front of everyone,’ he thought. ‘Only fourteen people.’

"Ok, Draco, calm down," he said aloud to himself.

"Stage fright?"

Draco turned quickly to see a familiar grinning face, and lots of red hair. He couldn't quite place the face with a name, but Merlin, she was beautiful!

"Ginny?" he said, not quite sure he had the correct name.

"You remembered me," she drawled. She had grown up so much since the last time he had seen her four years ago. "You know I've loved you for a while now, Draco Malfoy." She winked and sauntered back to her seat in the audience. Draco was stunned.

***

Well, there must be a mistake
Girl, you're way too hot
You could make a million dollars with the face you got
Don't you know my last number was a flop?
She said, "Do anything and I love ya."

***

There must be a mistake, thought Draco. Ginny Weasley, loving Draco Malfoy, was laughable. She was gorgeous; she could have anyone she wanted.

Draco thought about his last relationship. It had completely fallen apart, as arranged relationships tend to. Narcissa and Lucius had hand-picked Pansy Parkinson from a line of pureblood families, specifically for Draco. She was extremely opposed to this relationship but didn't start voicing her opinion until she had graduated Hogwarts and had another beau secured.

After the concert, which Draco had to admit, was thoroughly exhilarating, Ginny was waiting for him. They talked about everything that had happened in the last four years, including Pansy, which didn't seem to phase Ginny one bit.

***

Well, I don't do love letters
I'm no good with flowers
If I forget your birthday
Will you still love me?

***

The next morning, Draco left the hotel early. When he arrived at his flat, there was an owl waiting for him on the windowsill. He eyed the owl wearily and took the letter. It was from Ginny.

Draco quickly scrawled back and response. He hoped she didn't expect anything special. He was horrible with mushy stuff like love letters and such. He didn't understand women who wanted long-term relationships. He also didn’t understand why any man would succumb to that sort of behavior. Why on earth would any sensible man spend more than he needed to on a bunch of plants? What's so special about roses? Or daisies? Draco was terrible when it came to flowers, he barely could recognize the difference between a rose and a daisy, which, apparently, was not too difficult for most men.

He recalled the time when he had forgotten Pansy's seventeenth birthday. She may not have really liked Draco at all, but she had to keep up her image. It was kind of Draco to say that she was upset- he remembered a bit more clearly that she had thrown a tantrum- along with a glass vase filled with flowers. Those damn flowers again. He hoped never to have to face that situation again. If he did get involved with Ginny, he decided, he would have to be careful to mark her birthday in obnoxiously color-changing ink on his calendar. He couldn't forget a Christmas gift either, he thought nervously, as he looked at the date on the calendar. December 4th. Not too far away.

Well, what are the odds of
One true love?
You say "high,"
But I have my doubts

***

New Years Eve found Draco and Ginny out to dinner at a fancy restaurant in an upper-class wizarding neighborhood in London. Draco had kept his promise not to forget a Christmas gift- he spent a lot of time searching for an acceptable gift before deciding on some luminous scented candles. Girls liked things that smelled good, right?

Chinese food restaurants, even high-class wizarding ones, always gave out fortune cookies after dinner. Ginny giggled.

"What are the odds of One True Love?" she asked Draco, showing him the little sparkling piece of paper.

"Not so great?" replied Draco, unsure of himself or her reaction. She raised her eyebrows.

"I think the odds are high! Wouldn't you like to find someone to spend the rest of your life with?" she inquired, eyebrows still raised.

Draco looked worried. "I'm not so sure."

***

What are the odds of
Me letting you down?
Please don't cry; it's just your love
It creeps me out

***

"I'm not the kind of person that's ever been truly committed," Draco admitted. Ginny looked hurt.

"Are you breaking up with me?" Her voice wavered.

"No- don't cry! Please don't cry; I'm just... commitment... love... kind of creeps me out, that's all." Draco looked at her gently as she tried not to cry.

She looked at him with a sad half-smile. "I still love you."
