This story was written for the DG Forum's 2014 Summer Challenge over on FFN. The prompts used were "A series of accidental dates" and the quote "My reputation grows with every failure" by George Bernard Shaw, and this story won an award for Best Response to the Prompt for the G.B.S. quote prompt.
For anyone who read this on FFN, I tweaked the title a teensy bit.
