This is an interesting start to the story. I like your writing style. The various scenes do not seem choppy at all, but are good at piecing together Ginny's story of how she came to be where she is. 'Though I'm not sure whether I can imagine Molly & Arthur actually carrying out what they did, I can understand their reasoning; they really only want the best possible future for Ginny. I look forward to Ginny's reaction once she finds out her parents gave her child away to the Malfoys and witheld that knowledge from her.

Hehe, Serena is adorable. It's so sweet how Draco was telling her stories of how alike she is to her mother. I laughed aloud and for a long while when I read the line "Come and give your evil grandmother a hug." Hehe, that was awesome. It really brings home how much Narcissa loves her little granddaughter.
Although I love the Blaise/Luna pairing, I find it quite odd that Luna would change her mannerisms after becoming Blaise's fiancee. It just seems quite surreal having her change like that.
All in all, I'm enjoying this story very much. I particularly like Draco's characterisation. His devotion to Serena in the little things he does is very well portrayed.
I hope that the next chapter will be posted up soon!
Awww! What a sweet ending to this chapter. They both clearly get on very well. I just wonder how long it'll be before they decide to get together permanently. I wonder if Serena will be at the centre of that match-making. :) Hmm, or maybe conspiring with her Aunts Luna and Pansy.
I think my favourite part of this chapter was when Ginny's heart sank, because she realised that Draco did not keep her photo for himself, but for Serena. It shows how much Ginny wants Draco to like her. I've got a feeling that Draco's reasons weren't entirely truthful, though.
I'm really looking forward to reading some more. Draco and Ginny going to the Greengrass' ball together, perhaps?

Ouch. As much as I despise the hateful words they said to one another, it was a very realistic argument and for that, I commend you for writing such a well-written story.

But then it wouldn't be as good when, and if, they do ever get around to the shagging and the kissing...first kissing. Well, I suppose they'll have to talk to each other first...baby steps.

Although I'll never be comfortable with an adulterous Ginny, this story was very well written. I liked the introspective paragraph near the end with it's reflections on who the real Ginny is. The diamond earrings were a nice touch; an interesting way to bring the story to a close by linking the three main characters together.
Author's Response: I suppose it's mostly how you define adulterous. Ginny and Harry aren't married until the last segment; Whether or not Ginny and Draco are having sexual relations is up for interpretation. But I thank you greatly for your readership and review!

Oh Ginny! *hugs her* There, there. Draco deserves a good slap and humiliation. Maybe some of the twins' as-yet-untested merchandise? I'm sure that Hermione would be very willing to help out with something even more elaborate.
Kudos to Ginny for withstanding the veritaserum for as long as she did - misleading answers, truthful though they were, were great ways of keeping Draco from finding out a lot more.
By the way, I really like Hermione in this fic. The “I didn’t snog Victor once. I snogged him several times.” was so *totally* Hermione. *g* Who else would use semantics to such beneficial effects?

I'm really liking this story. It's interesting to see Draco not being drop-dead-gorgeous man he usually is in fanfics. Well, D/G fanfics at least. I *love* Edwina. She's great. I like how she was taken aback by Ginny's determined response.

Hehehe. It's wonderful to see Ginny truly have the upper hand at first in a D/G fic. She's totally in character and able to put Draco in his place. It's also rather believable to have Draco act as he does, especially since he has been rather hermit-like with regards to socialising.
I'm looking forward to the Quidditch practice. It should be rather amusing, methinks. ^_^

This story is very well written. Ginny's guilt at not being there for her brother is palpable, as is her fear at coming face to face with her family and old friends.

This is a great start to the story; I have been looking forward to a continuation for ages! It's been a year since the last update - I hope you will consider writing some more; it will be a great shame for the story to not be finished.
I like Ginny's characterisation here and look forward to her meeting her family and eventually Draco, too.

So true. As much as fanfiction and fantasy are wonderful ways of escapism, when mixed with the realities of life it gives them, I think, much more powerful an edge. This story is a prime example of it in action. This and The Halfway House, which I also love.
I like how you sneaked in Malcolm into this fic. His cavalier attitude about Ginny's 'services' to Draco had me grinning - it's so typically Malcolm.
I love the mention of Tracey/Greg, brief though it was.
That penultimate paragraph is a favourite of mine. There's the Gin we know and love - embarrassed as hell but still considering jumping Draco. ;)
Well, thinking about it, I suppose the letter is my utmost favourite. Not one particular part, but the whole of it. How Ginny refers to the hypocrisy in society and how unjust and prejudiced it has become is very heart-felt and eloquent. The part praising Draco was great, too - especially when he quoted it back at her. *grins*
I totally can't wait for the next fic exchange to get going.. I'm going to have a very enjoyable summer reading through all those fics. ^_^
PS. I liked Mafalda - any chance she'll be in any other fics? I guess she fit in with this story particularly well, but it'd be interesting to see her in another context.

I threw the Si Muove references in there to amuse myself, but I didn't think anyone outside the RP would catch them - but, then, I didn't know anyone not in the RP was reading it, either.

I really like how you wrote this chapter. Rose's observations of her friends is interesting. I like how you've been able to convey Lily's character so fully and realistically.

That was a great chapter. Horrible in that Rose couldn't keep her promise, but great character development. (When I saw the chapter title, I think I gasped aloud. Although the story summary indicates that this would happen, I held this tiny portion of me that hoped Rose wouldn't have to break the promise.)
By the way, Scorpius was lovely. It's sweet that although disliking Weasleys in general, he would still stop to see if one of the girls is okay.
I wonder what'll happen now. Will Lily confront Rose, or her mother? Maybe mention it to her brothers or father? Or keep it from her siblings? I can't wait for the next chapter to see what happens.
Author's Response: Wow, you suggested so many different things that Lily could then do, my head is still spinning! Gold star for plot twists though! I see Lily as very devious like her mother had been, so we'll just have to see! Either way, from this point on, the plot is thickening as knowing the truth tends to complicate different people's perspectives. And thanks for your opinion of Scorpius, I was trying to make it so Draco's son had some sense of manners. :)

I wonder if those covert looks between Scorpius & Lily are just due to curiosity about how things *could* have happened, or spring from something more... I really rather prefer a Rose/Scorpius shipping to be honest, but I suppose that a Lily/Scorpius one wouldn't be too unbelievable, given how they have become good friends.
I hope Rose is okay. Will we see her soon? I hope so. Maybe she and Lily will have a talk? Or maybe Scorpius will get his act together and apologise to her, also.
I like the tulips in this chapter. :) I had a feeling that they'd be Ginny's favourites by the way which Draco mentioned them.
Oh, by the way, both Ginny and Harry's reactions to Lily's accident were *totally* in character - the threatening and shouting and everything was spot on. Oh and Draco's anger at his son was really true to character, also. Actually, I don't think there's been a moment where I felt any of the characters to be acting unlike themselves, which is a great achievement given the 'new generation' slant that you've given the whole thing.

I read this on the fic exchange, so when I saw it posted here I had half of me wanting to re-read it, since it's a very well-written story, but the other half of me recalled the hollow feeling I got when reading it (particularly at the start) and didn't really want a repeat. However, I'm glad I re-read it.
I noticed that near the beginning Draco seemed reluctant to carry on with his role - his jaw clenching, in what Ginny thinks is anger, I think may be due to revulsion at having to do what he is being forced to do. Or am I way off track here?
The ending was brilliant. It is a great twist to a rather torturous (in a good way!) story.
Ginny Weasley is absolutely sure that Draco Malfoy is hatching a particularly evil plot as junior head of the Ministry Department of Culture, and that it definitely involves puppy-strangling, bribing officials, and consistently wearing trousers tailored very tight in back. Or at least it's a theory that makes sense when she's been surviving on two hours of sleep a night for far too long, and Draco keeps vetoing her sketches for the new marble statues at the Ministry fountain. But then Luna Lovegood gives her a potion with some very curious effects, and Ginny finds that she just may have to revise her opinions about those evil trousers...Category: Works in Progress

Oh my goodness. That is definitely a jam-packed chapter. I was alternately cringing and giggling at Ginny's crazed antics. It was heart-wrenching to see Draco close himself off upon hearing Ginny's declaration of not wanting him if he was the last man left. :( He clearly cares a lot about her. I wonder how she'll find out. In the meantime, I suppose we can enjoy some hot D/G scenes in the future? Not just with an imagined Draco?
But that last line - wow, that sucker-punched me, for sure. So what, is the only way for the potion to release its hold for them to actually sleep together? Or will Ginny be hanging around in this state until Draco can come up with an antidote? And what about Luna? Hehe, sorry, but I can't help ask loads of questions. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
*fans self* Things are really hotting up here... I can't think what the next chapter's going to be like!
It's interesting trying to work out how much of Ginny's true thoughts and wants show through and how much is the potion speaking.
“Oh, gods, and we’re cast back into the madness,” groaned Draco.
Draco clearly doesn't want Ginny to be out of her mind when he takes her, but on the other hand, he doesn't for a moment think that she would stay if she was in her right mind.
I guess it's really a moot point, since it's clear from the last line that Draco is past the point of letting Ginny go.
