Reckless Abandon by witty_fool    (Reviews - 9)

"Hello,” he said casually, as if speaking to a perfect stranger.  She supposed that was what they were, now.

She said nothing.

“Those cigarettes will kill you, you know.”  Oh so now he was giving medical advice.

She held up the cigarette in a salute to the sky, as if to say “Here’s hoping,” but still no words escaped her chapped lips.

you have Blaise giving Ginny Ambien. It is used (aside of treating insomnia) as, a date rape drug. Noting the warning, is this were the story is going?

Author's Response: I don't want to give away the story, but suffice it to say that this is not going to be a happy fic. If you don't want to read a dark story, this one probably isn't for you.

The fact remained that Draco Malfoy was a vile git of the worst sort. He was shockingly rude, for one, and he was also a big hypocrite.

It was really lovely. What about "Il Dragone?" Is there a chance for it being finished?

Author's Response: Thanks, pitzi. Regarding Il Dragone: it's easier to write a new one shot or a drabble than it is to add a new chapter of Il Dragone, ironically. I'd have to reread the entire thing and brainstorm a bit, and I just don't have time for that right now. I need to pass my last exam in March, and then I'll be free to write. Thanks again.

Snaps and Snails and Draco Tales by Anise    (Reviews - 19)

Lost prequels! Companion fics! Indecipherable scraps! All D/G; all excavated and brought to you straight from the mysterious depths of Anise's mind. (Picks up shovel.) Here they are at last! :)

Also, here's the first pic released from The Real Ginny Project (tm.)

Chapter THREE quote of the day:

Ginny Weasley? Draco’s eyes narrowed slightly as he looked back at her from the end of the aisle. Yes. She’d changed so much in the past two months that it was difficult, at first, to tell. Greatly for the better, his mind added. In February, she’d been pretty enough but gawky, clumsy, unfinished. Her huge brown eyes seemed to be growing much faster than the rest of her face; her bright red hair flew in all directions as if trying to escape; her long legs and slender arms bumped against every chair and desk and wall as if they’d appeared too suddenly for her to know how to control them.

But now.. but now she seemed to have grown into herself. Her light cotton robes, wet with perspiration, fit her like a glove. He paused where he was standing and watched her, the way he might stop for a moment to appraise a purebred filly in one of the Kentish fields about Malfoy Manor. She was scrambling up onto a step stool to reach a high shelf now. She lifted her robes to the side, revealing well-toned legs. Draco admired the turn of calves and thighs and slim waist and firm breasts quite dispassionately. Wonder if those Weasleys have any veela blood…none of the others seem to, maybe her mother had a bit on the side sixteen years back… Yet she wasn’t beautiful, not really. Her cheekbones were too wide, her chin too pointed, her eyes too big for her face. Her hands and feet were too large. She certainly didn’t have the frail, delicate quality he liked to see in girls.

She was moving like a frightened rabbit. Had she seen him? Was he scaring her that much? He couldn’t help smirking at the thought. Good. Yet he kept watching her.

Wow! This was amazing!
You pictured Draco and Ginny and how they handle each other after their divorce so in character for them!

It's obvious that they still care for each other so I wonder what went wrong in their marriage.

And I really hope they get back together and work everything out...

Love Blaise!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm glad that you thought they were in character! That was actually one of the things I was worried about here. Glad you liked Blaise's short cameo! I always have fun writing him. :)

Thank you for another great chapter!

This one obviously sheds some more light on DG relationship.

I really felt for Ginny - I assume that Ginny wanting a child and Draco refusing to have one was one of the major issues in their marriage and then to hear Astoria say that they are going to try for the baby right away!

I also think another major issue between them was the whole society thing, Ginny despising the requirement to pose and pretend. Perhaps she also feels that Draco didn't think her suitable to have his child. I suppose they didn't really talk about their problems but fought instead.

I'm not sure about Astoria's motives. Why is she being nice to her fiancée's ex? Is she just sociable or does she have a motive? Was her mentioning babies innocent or deliberate?

I'm really waiting for the next chapter!

Author's Response: pitzi, I loved your review, and I love that you came back to add more thoughts -- more on that later. You're absolutely right in that the baby thing was a big issue in their marriage, and that the society thing and the lack of communication also played a part. I don't think it's ever really ONE thing that kills a marriage. As for Astoria, you're absolutely right to question her motives. So far she's shown herself to be without malice, but she's not stupid and the first thing we heard about her was her "unfailing intuition". I'm sure on some level she must know that Draco might still be in love with Ginny. Lets see what happens next. Thanks again!

Oh, and Draco is still very possessive of Ginny - despite of the fact that he himself is engaged!!

One of the first things he talks about when he meets her at the wedding is addressing the issue of Ginny's date or lack of thereof. And the moment he learns about her date with Marcus Aubrey he rushes over and I think protecting Malfoy Holdings' name is only a side part of the reason.

I want to smack him even though he can't be solely blamed for the marriage failor.

But I so hope they overcome their issues and get together again!!

Author's Response: Exactly! He seems to be keenly aware of Ginny's dating life, and I also don't think that the Malfoy financial interests are the only reason why Draco was upset here. He needs to get it together. u_u Thank you for coming back to add this, that was awesome! :D

The Girl With the Taxi Driver by Anise    (Reviews - 49)

The war is over, and so is Draco Malfoy's world. He has run as far as he can, and now, as a taxi driver in a world that has no more magic, he has come to the end of the line... or so he thinks. But when he finds the former Ginny Weasley, he learns just how many mysteries remain to be solved... and how much hope can still be found.

Chapter SEVEN quote of the day:

At three in the morning, Draco turns off the sign on top of his cab and pulls into the parking lot of the pancake house. He sees her small figure tucked into a seat in the corner table. It sends a pang of something like fear through him when he gets an inkling of just how happy he is to see her.

Ginny slides into a molded plastic seat. “I’m hungry. Want to split some pancakes?”

She eats ravenously when they arrive, tearing apart the pats of butter in their foil wrapping, ripping the cover off the sealed plastic pouches of syrup. “I shouldn’t have coffee this late. I’ll never get to sleep. I never do before five or six anyway, so I guess it doesn’t matter.”

This casual Ginny. Flippant. She does not want him to feel sorry for her. She will not accept his pity. He admires her. He wonders just how many Ginnys there are. He wants to meet them all. That scares him, too.

Oh, dear!

This is awful! Even though this was obvious from the beginning, this chapter was what really brought home to me just in how bad a situation they all are. It's crushing to see Ginny as a shell of her former self. Is her family dead? I actually felt bad for Draco when reading about what transpired in his flat. And I actually wanted him to say no. I wonder if Ginny believes he only wanted her for sex back when they were in a relationship. Of course, it could be that she is very hurt by him and the sympathy I feel is mostly because it's Draco's point of view.

Still, I hope Ginny will warm up some to him when they next meet.

Thank you for this new chapter!

Author's Response: Well, the situation isn't good. I won't say that Ginny's entire family is dead, but yes, a lot of them are. And we'll find out more about what's really going on with Draco and Ginny very soon... ;) It's true that with his POV we get a skewed understanding of the whole situation, but by the end, I think it'll become clearer that we couldn't know everything Ginny knows. Not that she knows everything either. More soon...

you know, I was trying to figure out who won the war based on the fact that wizards are now outcasts and the only one who could do such a thing in my mind was Vernon Dursley. I know, don't fall off your sit from laughing. I hope the question will be answered in one of the next chapters because I'm really intrigued.

Author's Response: Thanks! :) In a way, you're actually on the right track. Not exactly that it's one specific person such as Vernon... but it's a much better guess than anyone else has managed so far. More soon, and we'll start to find exactly what happened in the next chapter.

There are even more questions with this chapter. At first I thought that being thrown into nonmagical world was their punishment for being on Voldemort's side, but then if Colin and Ginny are there then I suppose I was wrong. I suppose they are a little better off though.

Also we don't really know who won. yet, I suspect that someone (Harry?) could decide that in order to finish the wizard and pureblood superiority attitude all magic should be banned.

Ginny is probably also forced into something she doesn't want and I think she tried to run away.

I wonder why she shows no signs of recognizing Draco especially after everyone comments how Draco looks the same. It makes me wonder if there really was a relationship between them and if there was, something must have gone wrong.

I can't wait for what's next. Thanks so much for the new chapter!!!

Author's Response: The question of who won the wizarding war... well, we're going to get to that. And I think that it's kind of a surprise. I will say that Harry wasn't the one who decided. ;) Ginny and Draco did have a relationship in the past, but you're right, it didn't end well. More soon!

Oh, thank you for the new chapter!

Well, we finally learnt something of what has happened during the war. Trust Harry to ruin everything with noble intentions. I wonder if he ran off.

Also, it's interesting how Draco thinks that Ginny left him, while Ginny in the dream accuses him of the same. Has he failed to do something and as a consequence she was left behind somehow. I hope the reason for their fallout will be revealed in the next chapter. And also how Ginny became involved with those politics guys. Though it wouldn't be a surprise for me if Harry made her go there.

Waiting for the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Hmmm..... you may have been peeking at some of Chapter 4, and that's all I'm going to say. ;) I neither confirm nor deny. Yes, Harry did pretty much ruin it all for the magical world, although to be fair to him, he did have good intentions. More soon!

I had another idea.
Maybe Ginny somehow creates an illusion of sex with everyone only she is not exactly aware of it and then the man feels as if he was satisfied by her, and she doesn't really remember what happens. See, my crazy ideas stream hasn't dried up yet...

Author's Response: Crazy ideas are good! All questions will eventually be answered... ;)

Reviewer: pitzi Signed

Well, there's one very serious mishap with this chapter. It's too short for me. And you are a big tease! We haven't found out why Draco got his magic back and I actually hoped we would.

And I didn't quite understand what Ginny said about forgetting everything happening while she is working. Is it psychological? What exactly doesn't she remember?

Also, it looks like not only their relationship ended badly, but they had issues during that relationship as well, like trust issues. On Ginny's part at least. Or is it post war? Also, she is very adamant to remind him all the time what she does now. She expects him not to want anything to do with her because of that, I suppose. And she is used to this life where men only want services from her and perhaps she doesn't have women friends , so she is naturally suspicious and not understanding as to what Draco might want from her if not sex. I wonder what happened to Luna? But it could also be that she mentions her occupation all the time because she wants Draco, well, maybe not to be jealous per se, but rather to show some kind of an emotional reaction. Because she also repeatedly ascertains that he enjoyed what she did to him the previous night. Of course this is also because she doesn't remember, but still she does it too many times.

Yet, she agrees to see him again. Comraderie? Or hopefully feelings she still has for him? Or simply because he doesn't ask her to meet him for her body. So many questions!!!

I hope for an update soon and thank you so much for this new chapter!!

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, it WAS kind of short... but there's more coming up soon. Basically, Ginny doesn't remember any of the work she does. At all. And it's not just psychological... we'll find out why. The D/G relationship before the war was something that absolutely nobody they knew would have approved of at all, and the necessity of keeping it hidden really took its toll on both of them. But we'll find out a lot more about it soon!

Reviewer: pitzi Signed
Date: Sep 29, 2013 Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5

I really, REALLY, REALLYYYY hope that the next chapter will be up soon, because I really want to know what it was that Ginny did (obviously). She really doesn't want to tell him, so I hope it's because she actually did do something that to her at least meant that it wasn't just another client, that he is still special to her and now she is reluctant to admit still having feelings for him. Probably she is sure that he has none for her. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but I really hope the real Ginny is still there underneath the not so appealing exterior.

Also, I loved how Draco writes letters to his deceased mother and I also really love how you describe Draco's emotional state, for ex. where he muses that he doesn't want to see her and then: "He longs to stop the wanting itself. But that, too, is a species of desire." - he'd rather stay in his unfeeling state but Ginny makes it impossible for him to do so.

And I'm intrigued by the Elemental magic you brought in at this point, and how it was that Ginny awakened Draco's magic somehow.

So I really really want to know what Ginny tells him and how things continue from there. And I liked how Draco seemed to floor Ginny by repeatedly telling her that he only wants to talk. She is so sure he wants her only for sex.

Thank you again for the wonderful peace of prose.

And I wait for ch.2 of the other prose too...

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Ginny really has some secrets here, and a BIG one is revealed in Ch. 6. Everything is definitely not what it seems, and there's also a lot that Draco doesn't know... yet. But there will be more soon! (And Part 2 of Rose Garden is up on FB. :)

thank you for carrying on with this story. This chapter kept me on edge and worried about what will happen next. I check almost every day to see if you posted the next chapter.

Also, I like how we learn more and more about the characters in an indirect way, like in this chapter, which is mostly about Draco, we learn, in the end, that Ginny, though she loves him, doesn't really trust him. Otherwise she wouldn't have thought of the possibility that she might not see him again - that he ran off. Perhaps she was always afraid that one day he will.

Also, I'm intrigued about Fred and George - it seems that they, like Luna know what's going on.

The Anatomy of a Suffragette by haniqua    (Reviews - 100)

A feminist take on the Marriage Law trope, with DG for good measure.

Anise, that was absolutely in place! I found myself nodding in agreement almost after every word!

I never really understood D/Hr. I've read a couple of stories but Hermione was just another Ginny in them (another point for D/G). I don't see how this pairing could work - Hermione is very competitive and would always try to prove that she is smarter. This wouldn't go well with Draco. Also she can be very narrow minded (re her attitude towards Luna) and she is very set in her believes. She would constantly criticize Draco's lifestyle and his society circles, etc. And there's the fact that she is muggleborn and there are things about magical community (which is very traditional) that she just can't understand or accept. And no matter how far Draco deviates from his family path (beliefs wise) I still can't see him having a significant relationship with a muggleborn.

Ginny is a pureblood, so she can at least understand Draco's family/society obligations even if she doesn't like them. Also she has a big heart and can be very accepting. Not mentioning the fact that she can help him heal and I know it's a horrible cliche but yes, a cold person needs someone warm and caring who is more open with expressing their emotions. And Draco is the only one in cannon who could understand what Ginny went through with the diary and accept the darkness that still remains in her. And Draco can be the logical one to Ginny's impulsiveness and recklessness.

I could go on about those things for hours, but I just wanted to add to all your reasons for why D/G is an iconic pairing is that they can balance each other like no other and this is a good basis for a real relationship. And the fact that there are several different ways that this relationship could go makes it even more interesting and exciting.

I totally agree with what you said about other pairings and I think H/Hr is amuch more believable or even H/Luna. I also like Ron with Pansy. As for Draco/Pansy - I see them as good friends too. And yes, Hermione needs someone more easy going like George.

Looking forward to what's next!!

Author's Response: Thanks!! :) You make so many good points... some I didn't even really think of, which is why a COMMUNITY of D/G shippers is such a good thing. I agree that D/Hr never really works as it is... one or both of their characters need to be changed so much for this to happen that you might as well substitute anyone else. I think that Draco and Hermione *might* become friends after they've both had a chance to mellow, which would work well if Hermione is Ginny's friend in the future. But there's too much friction between who they are as people, and it's the kind that is so basic that it wouldn't work even as a love/hate relationship. John Fowles has written some great material about the difference between what you CAN do as a writer and what you SHOULD do, and it's very applicable to the two ships.

Anyway... more soon! :)

I think it's very important that you bring up all those themes regarding canon and D/G.

About JKR's writing I want to add something and I hope you are the only one who reads this review, because I don't like rotten tomatoes... I think that lack of character development is one of the central problems with her writing. And it holds true even for main characters. People can't be the same at 17 as they are at 11. yet that's what we get. And it actually looks like Draco and Ginny "got out of hand" in a sense that JKR hasn't planned on them growing as complex characters. I remember an interview where she said that Draco is a bully and it's sad that girls are crushing on him because of the actor who plays him in films (I think credit should be given to Felton for seeing more in this character). I suppose that you will be discussing the epilogue, so I'll share my thoughts about it then.
And i'd like to be Molly and Arthur's advocate- they couldn't figure anything out because they haven't seen Ginny for the most of the year. I don't remember now, but I think that perhaps she stayed in school even during winter holidays. I don't think they could catch anything from her owls because let's not forget that Riddle was very clever and even Dumbledore, who was repeatedly eported as knowing everything about everyone at school couldn't figure out it was her! And about the summer - well, JKR doesn't say anything so we don't really know whether Ginny underwent some kind of treatment or not and Ginny herself strikes me as someone who'd rather everyone didn't discuss what happened to her. And don't forget that they went to Egypt that summer, a rear treat for them and the change of scenery is a very good therapeutic instrument.
And we know that JKR avoids dealing with psychological trauma in the series: who can believe that a boy who spent ten years locked under the stairs turns out more or less normal? So for this reason I think ginny's dealing with what happened in CoS isn't described either.

That's what I think anyway.

I'm really looking forward for the next chapter of your essay!
AND DON'T FORGET SATS!!

Author's Response: Thanks SO much! :) And no, I don't think you'll get any rotten tomatoes thrown at you here... ;) I agree about the characterization issue, and it really is as if both Ginny and Draco tried to escape and develop character on their own.. .and then were ruthlessly squashed. :P And believe me, I know that people will have more than one opinion on certain aspects of this essay. I totally see where you're coming from with the Weasleys and their reaction to Ginny. It's not something I agree with, but we will agree to disagree. :) And don't worry! More SatSD is on its way!! They're running to the train station right now, and Victoria is about to meet Nate for the first time...

If Your Hands Were In Mine by Anise    (Reviews - 21)

Ginny hasn’t seen Draco since the last time they met in a moonlit corridor after the last battle at Hogwarts. So why is he following her around the Ministry of Magic five years later, desperately trying to warn her about unseen dangers? And why does she still feel that same old disturbing attraction to him?

Chapter FOUR quote of the day:

“Get out of here, Malfoy,” she hissed at him.

He shook his head.

“I’m working on my public art project. Out.

“No,” he said, not moving a muscle.

“Fine,” she sighed, walking over to him. “Why don’t you just tell me what you want, then? Let’s get this over with.”

Yes, you've definitely expanded this. That's a good thing.
My favorite part in this chapter is the description of all the times that they almost talk and almost touch and also how Draco is attracted to her vitality.

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, the next chapter is, shall we say... VERY expanded. ;) This was written for the 2010 Exchange, and whoever wrote the original prompt didn't want NC-17. Also, she didn't want Harry to be a jerk. Now that new material is being added, well... ;)

Ha, Ha!!

I remember reading it on the exchange! But I see you added some changes. I'd love to see how you changed it and it's hilarious!

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Yes, some things were changed... it's more that some things were added.... ;) As you'll see.

Where are the reviews????!!!!

Anyway, I'm so happy you are expanding this! It's really awesome and you are amazing to even have time for that!

And I WILL send you my thoughts on ch1-3 of dls.Sorry it takes a lot of time but I had a really hectic schedule.

Author's Response: I don't know!! It's really weird, because the numbers say that at least 200 people have read this chapter. (Well, there have been over 200 clicks on this chappie, anyway... ;) There's one more chapter. I totally understand, believe me! I've been working on DaLS every day, too. This is a good time, because it's before the family business season really starts, so I'm making the most of it. :)

The Universal Constant by gidge_8    (Reviews - 49)

Ginny returns home to find that life at the Burrow has completely changed in her absence. It's all Ron's fault, and it's up to her to try to save her poor brother, but she may be too late. Worse, she may get sucked into the madness along with everyone else and start liking her brother's new best friend.

Thank you so much for returning to writing!
I'm loving this story. It's so refreshing! I've grown tired of all the stories where Ron pitches a fit over Ginny's relationship with Malfoy. And you didn't simply reverse Ron-Ginny roles here. Ginny's fit is different and her own rather than imitating Ron in similar position. I'm happy you included the story of how Ron and Draco became friends. I also am very curious if Draco already liked Ginny when he started his acquaintance with Ron.
And area we going to see Harry and Hermione and their reactions?

Looking forward towards the next chapter!!

Author's Response: You are most welcome, and you are also awesome for sending such a kind review. :) Back issues this past year made it horribly uncomfortable to sit and write. This story has been in my half-finished pile for some time. So glad you are enjoying it.
Best wishes!
