Unstoppable by CharmedLife19    (Reviews - 224)

There are three things that truly matter to Lucius Malfoy: his family, his wealth and his blood. So of course, it was of utmost importance that his son marry a pureblood. Thus Lucius begins to arrange the perfect bride for his son. She must have both beauty and brains. She must be skillful with a wand, but with the elegance to know when to use it. When it comes down to it there is really only one woman that matches the criterion, but she comes with one problem: She’s a Weasley.

You should read the books and not just see the movies before writting fanfiction, it would help it be at least a tiny bit believable.

Author's Response: I've read all the books, most of them before the movies came out; I'm not sure how you got the idea that I haven't, especially seeing as I started this "HBP and below" compliant story before the movie for HBP was released. As specified in the description, the events in this story are only compliant up to HBP. The point of writing is the ability to take creative licenses, especially considering - in this particular genre - we're dealing with a coupling that would never happen in the books.

Malfoy can't be an Auror, he was a Death Eater who carried the Mark.

Author's Response: Thank you for reading and for your feedback, but 1) I write fanfiction based on the books, not the movies, and its never confirmed in the books that Draco has a Dark Mark. (Harry suspects it but Rowling doesn't revisit the concept - check Draco Malfoy's Wikipedia page if you don't believe me.), and 2) This is DracoandGinny.com; clearly we are dealing with a concept that would never come to be in the canon designed by JK. Some artistic liberties have had to be taken. I wanted to write a story in which Draco has changed, in which he is trying to redeem himself and make up for his past mistakes. I thought the occupation of an Auror for him best captured that sentiment.

Not Quite an Affair by Rosalie    (Reviews - 522)

“You mustn’t tell them, Rose! Harry knows but Lily and the boys… you can’t breathe a word…”

When Rose Weasley went to her favorite aunt for advice on how to handle loving someone her family disapproved of, she never dreamed the older woman would have been able to relate so well. In the comfortable safety of her kitchen, Ginevra Potter told her niece everything and swore her to secrecy. But months later, when Ginevra notices that her daughter, Lily, is spending time with Scorpius Malfoy, Ginny realizes too late that the truth can never really be locked away. Children question their parents and their own identities and everyone must confront the past.

I don't think theres any way Harry doesn't leave her after this. As a man I have to say I'd be packing my bags as soon as I got my daughter home.

Author's Response: Oh I definitely understand that. As a woman, I would expect him to be packing his bags. There's just so much tension between them and things that go way beyond tension as well. You'll have to see everything unfold and see if you can approve by the end... (and no that shouldn't give away anything, I don't think)

I know that in shipping anything that gets the shipped characters together is supposed to be a good thing but frankly I think Ginny is a horrible woman and mother.

Truthfully I think Draco and Ginny should be together, not because of true love or anything like that but because no one else needs to be shackled to two utterly worthless and selfish people.

In a way its very interesting as in most D/G fanfic you see Ginny helping Draco become a better man but in this their attraction, because I don't think I can accurately call it love, has brought Ginny down to Draco's level. now they are both the embodiment of childishness and selfishness that was Draco in HBP/DH.

I knew, when Ginny refused to let harry take the most effcient and rational steps to gt the kids back that Ginny only cares for what she wants, and not even the welfare of her children carries more weight.

Author's Response: I thought that a hundred times while writing various scenes in this. Your comment even made me wonder if I ought to re-title the fic "Selfish" which would work out perfectly I think. I do agree with you that Ginny is brought down in this fic, but I do see Draco as behaving a little better than her, more restrained. And I think the majority of Ginny's bad decisions in this fic have been in her interactions with Harry. As irrational and selfish as both Ginny and Draco have been, I have viewed a lot of Ginny's actions as not only her wanting closure from her past relationship with Draco, but also having the problems in her marriage just building up to the boiling point. She has lied to herself for years and her emotions are tangled with her current situation and her past self when she was just 17. You are a right to say there is a lot of selfishness all around, which certainly isn't right, but I do think it can be understood. That said, it remains selfish but they are trying, badly, to at least fix the situation before their children are affected further and Lily's running away really made that real for Ginny. For her, it

Its a good story but Ginny seems to be forgiving Malfoy way to early. He was a Death Eater, and proud of it, who got one of her brothers maimed and another poisioned. She just seems way to willing to essentially sell out her family.

Author's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review and for the compliment. In my story, we only are HBP compliant, and as far as I can tell in canon, Draco was not very happy about being a Death Eater (physical changes and the crying etc from the book). And so far in my story, he has confessed to acting as a spy or being basically hidden away at Durmstrang.

As for Ginny, she was attracted to him in school, and she believes his explanation of what and where he has been. Now they are completely isolated from the world, and it's been three months since she arrived. This may not be a lot of time, but she has never once considered this as selling out her family.

I'm a little confused about things. One, how was Draco cleared of all charges? They had multiple witnesses and his own self confession for a lot of his crimes, including multiple account of attempted murder.

Second, why did Ginny tell her mom she wasn't cheating on Harry and she acted so offended when she had JUST come back from cheating on Harry? Is she really that cold heart and accomplished liar?

Author's Response: Good questions, and you made me double check. But I was almost certain that he did not go to Azkaban. Even if he did, for my purposes in the story, he didn't. And I didn't feel like explaining all of that when the focus is only on their relationship. But, here is the quote from J.K. Rowling: No, the Malfoys weaseled their way out of trouble (again) due to the fact that they colluded (albeit out of self-interest) with Harry at the end of the battle.

And as for your second question. Ginny had already broken up with Harry, ending their engagement, before she even showed up at Draco's flat. As far as I'm concerned, that's not cheating. She even goes back to get her things after leaving the Burrow. And she didn't deny being with Draco to her mum, she admitted it. She was upset because her mother still took Harry's side even though he had been the one to cheat. Molly, I think, was the one being cold-hearted during this coversation.

I hope this clears up the confusion. I appreciate the questions. Maybe Draco's uncertainty of whether she had really broken up with Harry is where you were confused? And as for his acquittal, I agree. It is far-fetched to think that there would have been no repercussions. But as I said, it didn't really work with the story I wanted to tell, and since it came from the source, I went with it. Don't hesitate to ask anything else. Thank you!

I like how you kept Draco in canon, evil, cowardly and selfish but not as evil as his family or Voldemort.

Author's Response: One of my biggest battles when writing this was Draco's moral weakness - he'd have a watershed moment and then back away from it immediately because he wasn't brave enough to back it up. Glad to hear that all my wrestling paid off!

Promises by recension    (Reviews - 58)

In the back of her mind, Ginny had always sensed there would be wild adventures with her and Harry. The early days of their time together–fighting evil and playing sport–felt like lifetimes ago. The most adventuresome thing they had done together in recent memory was a spontaneous shagging in the garden. It was so domestic that it pained her how common they were. The greatest wizard of his generation, and his wife, getting their thrills from a shag in the garden. She had never thought this future would be hers.

I just realized the Ginny has really thought everything through. Even supposing she and Astoria somehow manage to "switch" she still going to have to go and have a conversation that goes likes this "So everybody remember the Death Eater that poisioned Ron and let Greyback into the castle so he could maim Bill? Well he's going to be around a lot more,"

Thats going to be a trainwreck in and of itself the whole divorce/swap thing aside.

Author's Response: Well, yes, but that applies to any DG fic that has any canon-compliancy, doesn't it? Thanks for the review! :)

I'm greatly enjoy the story and the premise and still I can only come to one set of conclusions. Both Ginny and Astoria are the type of people who would lie, decieve and cheat on their spouses in a particularly evil way at the risk of destroying their families. Now given Draco's Death Eater tendencies I can see how he might find that appealing but theres no way Harry, having morals and ethics, isn't going to hate them both as well as the whole of the Weasley family.

No matter how you slice it those are two cruel women.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review :)

WhileI do agree that Astoria and Ginny have been pretty cold, there are a few things to consider. First of all, although to the outsider it does not appear as such, none of these people are truly happy to be married. There were hints from the very first scene that some characters harbored feelings for others, also. Secondly, it's not quite that simple. I promise you that it won't end up with everyone happily spouse swapping while gnoring the rest of their families. It just isn't realistic.

Although it seems like this story is coming very close to being over, and an ending definitely is in sight, there are still a lot of unresolved issues here. I promise nothing will be left hanging! Everything hint, every minor clue that I've given, will be addressed, and hopefully my ending will satisfy everyone. :)

Thanks so much for your thoughtful review! I love so much how the readers of this story are really getting into it. It's amazing to see that. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story!

I really like the writting but that said I don't see Molly Weasley having anything to do with the Malfoys; its completely illogical. Between Lucius and Draco they nearly killed three of her children.

Author's Response: Yeah, I feel that. To be honest I feel the same way. I plan on exploring that in depth next chapter but to give you perspective now, in my head Harry explicitly asked her to pretend to be accepting when they got their invitations, since it the Wizarding world looks up to the Weasleys. If they publicly hold a grudge it could incite postwar tensions and make way for open discrimination. I don't think for one minute that Molly is going to let any of it go, but she might attend the gala and act polite for Harry.

But Draco IS a coward. Its the defining characteristic of his personality and Ginny knows it so I don't understand why she's lying. Ginny also knows all of the horrible things he did so its a bit much to believe she just okay with all that.

Author's Response: By this point in the story, she's forgiven Draco for the things he did. Yes, he was nasty at school, but he was tried for his crimes during the war, and since then he's kept his head down. She's also realized his actions in Diagon Alley probably saved her life, so she feels grateful as well. She'll definitely be confronted with those words in the last chapter though. :)
