Draco's Dangerous Dilemma by Anise    (Reviews - 1418)

All Ginny wants is to get the upper hand just once with drool-worthy hunk of man candy and callous playboy Draco Malfoy before he moves on to his next careless conquest. So how did this simple plan lead to time travel, nefarious plots involving the most infamous whorehouse in the wizarding world, and the teenaged Draco’s achingly sweet, chocolate-flavored kisses? Even Draco Malfoy was innocent once, as Ginny learns all too well…

Chapter ONE HUNDRED EIGHTEEN Quote of the Day:

THE LAST CHAPTER

The minutes ticked by, long enough for Ginny to know that against all reason, all common sense, she still wanted impossible things from him. But she would leave. Even after today, even when her body ached from him and for him, when she could feel that he had begun to shape her to him, she would turn around and leave him. I will, I will, she thought.

“You don’t understand,” said Draco.

“Oh?” Ginny said stiffly. “At least he hadn’t touched her, she thought. She would not be able to find the strength to pull herself away from him, and she knew it.

Uh...ebola eggnog? that doesn't sound halfway pleasant! =P

But anyway, this chapter was as super, if not more, than the others have been. I'm wondering - is there something we don't know about regarding Arthur and the Malfoys? There seemed to be something hinted at, but I'm not sure if I'm just reading too much into it.

And that dream at the end (I'm assuming it's a dream, anyway) was rather interesting. Was it one of those dreams-that-are-actually-real, or just a dream? And if it's the former, and Real Draco was actually there, somehow, does that mean the bond isn't broken? Ah, questions, questions. Probably you can't answer them for me, but it's really just more incentive for me to keep reading.

Really super awesome-as-pie chapter! =)

Author's Response: Yup. There's plenty we don't know about Arthur and the Malfoys (in the Aniseverse, anyway.) It helps to explain why Molly gets a little nuts when Harry's involved, because he hates them so much. More coming up about that fairly soon. And there's a little more background in the Field Guide to DDD, too. Mmm... more about the dream and the bond soon, too. :)

Oh dear. Talk about a cliffhanger, eh?

So, yup. This was once again brilliant. Actually, I'm rather fond of this chapter. The others have been awesome (do doubt you know, I've been fawning over every one) but this one had a certain je ne sais quoi.
I'm guessing that now that they've sort of found Daphne, that (some) answers will be coming our way?

And I get the feeling that the Crystal Palace is going to be important somehow. (Fingers crossed that I'm right - no doubt that would make for some fun times.)

I hope Ginny gets her art done in time for Halloween though! Let me channel my matronly side for a moment to say that she really ought to be putting her professional life ahead of her personal one. But then, what fun would that be?

Marvellous chapter! =)

Author's Response: Oo, thank you. :) More answers very soon, as you've correctly guessed. Ooooooooh.. um, yes. The CP will be very very important. (snickers with glee, thinking of upcoming chapters.)

So they're not at the Crystal Palace at all! That was definitely a twist, but a damn interesting one. I'm glad Daphne's back, I rather like her.
This chapter was great. I loved the details you added about poor Daphne and Ginny's childhoods. Being put in the psychiatric ward - that's just terrible! That revelation really made them even more sympathetic characters.
And oh my! Draco's back! I'm hoping this will mean we'll get some more information about the St Mungo's stuff and their now apparently broken bond.

Brilliant chapter! =)

Author's Response: I really have a soft spot for this chapter. And, of course, Draco's back. He's, um... well, let's say that he's going to *stay* back for a while. Um, some interesting content coming up soon... hang on tight...

Just a warning, this review is going to be a long one. You might want to go get a snack if you're hungry.

First, let me apologise for my suspicious absence from reviewing in the past little while. I came to the decision that it was a bad idea for this story, no matter how wonderful it is, to be taking up all my Anise-story reading time. So I went on a tiny binge and read Unforgiveable and The Bat Bogey's Cometh (which I've reviwed in more detail). I'll admit, it was hard to take a break from this story, because there are so many questions that need answering, but I'm glad I did.

Reading those others made me realize what it is I love about this story above so many others. The brilliant, realistic blend of horror and comedy, drama and romance, fantasy and (dare I say it?) smut. It's a melange of all sorts of different genres, which in many cases would make for a case of sever 'WTF?!' but not for this, not with you. Because you write so realistically that it's hard to believe these things aren't really happening. You've woven characters so that they seem like real people, not just creations that you're moving around on a stage.

But now, for a productive review of this chapter. I'm terribly glad Draco's back, and it seems like he'll be back for a while, too.

But he says he can't have been in that creepy hallway, and I'm inclined to agree with him, because I can't see what he would have to gain my denying it. So, is the bond still there? And if it wasn't actually Draco in that hall, who was it? Anyone? No one?

And completely randomly, I really liked this line. Not for any particular reason, it just stuck out as awesome: “I’ve already informed you,” she said glacially, “that I’ve stopped.”

And now, it seems, they're gone someplace completely different. Malfoy Manor? One of the Malfoy properties somewhere? I don't know...I'll just have to keep reading. But I do hope that the others are safe. And who is this mysterious running person? Since they seem to have left St. Mungo's, will we find out?

Brilliant chapter! =)

Author's Response: The evil computer ate my long reply to your review. (glares at it.) Anyway.... thanks so much for the long review! (I think there was a Happy Long Review Dance involved.) I think a lot of what you might be seeing in DDD is that so much of it was written before I ever posted ever any of it, and while none of the original content has made it to the site EXACTLY as originally planned, I think that that fact has shaped the fic in ways I can't explain. Because this didn't happen with any of the other fics.

Now, about Chapter 45. Yes, Draco's back, and he'll be back for awhile! (Evil cackling... speaking of smut, funny you should mention that... ;) All I'll say is that Draco really doesn't *remember* being in the creepy hallway. So he's not lying to Ginny about that. What really happened on the night of June 8th... well, we don't know that yet. And we'll find out the answers to all your questions very, very soon... ;)

Oh my goodness gracious me. It's absurd, the way you make me sound like an elementary school teacher every time I review a chapter.

First, sorry again for the big gap between reviews. I've been dreadfully busy.

Second, this chapter was a-ma-zing. Ginny's not exactly the most trusting person in the world (can you blame her?) so it's not a shock to see her trying to weasel (pun!) the truth out of Draco. What is a shock is that he doesn't seem to have any nasty ulterior motives. And also the sudden turn from strict interrogation to salaciousness. That was...wow.

But I loved the way this chapter ended, with Ginny 'staying strong' as it were, and Draco being so nonchalant and flippant, because he has no clue what he just said. Bit amusing, actually.

This chapter was awesome. =)

Author's Response: Snerk! Thank you. :) Yes, I liked that turnaround on Draco's part too...

Oh dearie me. (Yes, you've done it again).

I should have known Ginny wouldn't believe him. She's terribly suspicious, but then she has been through quite a bit. She tries so hard to stay strong, to resist temptation, but it's hard, isn't it? She succeeded for about a minute in the middle there, but Draco was a Slytherin for a reason, and he certainly has a way of manipulating her into doing exactly what he wants. (I don't think of the latter half of this chapter as anything more than shameless manipulation on his part. Incredibly well done, but still.)

And now when you end the chapter like that, I've simply got to keep reading. Amazing, as always. =)

Author's Response: Ginny's suspicious, but then, she'll have good reason to be... eventually. The thing about Draco's motivations in the matter of trying to get into St. Mungo's is that they really ARE pretty innocent, for once, although they're not very straightforward, as you've probably guessed (and as Ginny has too.) It does have something to do with the money, but, well, that could cover a lot. However, things will become more devious, in time. ;)

Oh. Oh my.

I continue to be thoroughly impressed by your masterful blend of humour and drama and...other things. That bit near the beginning where Draco just kept listing places had me in stitches, as did “Malfoy, shut up! Answer my question about this bed.” I love that that line is so absurd, but it's also the kind of thing people (me. Mostly it's me) do rather often. So I admit, I giggled.

But then of course it got dark fairly quickly, and you had me feeling bad for Ginny and all that she's been through.

And hey! They've still got a bond! *dances* Tee hee, I was right! But since they do have a bond, I can only imagine that a number of interesting and shocking things are going to happen.

Well, on to the next chapter. =)

Author's Response: (looks into crystal ball) Hmm, I wonder HOW you could have predicted THAT. I guess you'll just have to wait and see... ;)

Oh my goodness. So, I'm guessing that the next chapter or so will be in a similar vein as this chapter? Well then...

So, it seems Ginny is going to finally succumb to Draco's wiley ways. Would that kind of thing strengthen the bond, I wonder? Anyway, reviewing this chapter is proving to be incredibly hard to do, so suffice it to say this was quite well written and that you're really very good at salaciousness.

Author's Response: Ummm.... yes, as you may have figured out by now, Draco and Ginny only dive deeper and deeper into the cauldron of smut after Chapter 49. ; ) And thanks!

Can you believe it? I haven't reviewed since last year! Absurd! xD

Anyway, this was another one of THOSE chapters, which makes it hard for me to give a proper review. Because...you know. But what kind of person would I be if I just read and didn't review? A right selfish one, and that's rude.

But, more importantly: oh, it infuriates me to no end that we're fifty chapters in and Draco still can bring himself to call Ginny by her first name. Really, the fact that neither of them can bring themselves to say the other's name is starting to get to the point of absurdity. I mean, for how much they've been through by now, you'd think they'd be able to do that. And it's even more ridiculous coupled with the recent theme of 'letting go of shame and fears', because apparently for all they can do naughty things, they just can't do that. I mean, with their characters being so stubborn and proud, I can see why it isn't happening, but still, ugh!

Well, that probably reads like more of a mini-rant than a proper, constructive review. To make up for it (and my long absence) have a heathy dose of praise.

Anise, you are, by far, one of the greatest authors I have encountered. Your ability to write smut without it being awkward and creepy is unparalelled, and this chapter was amazing.

Happy belated new year and holidays! =)

Author's Response: Yes, Chapter 50 definitely was one of ... um... "those chapters." ;) And being in Chapter 50, I'll just say that I think a real demonstration of just how and why both Draco and Ginny can't let go of all their guardedness with each other is coming up. It's all going somewhere... And thank you, thank you! :)

Reviewer: TuesdayNovember Signed

Oh my. Wow.

Another one of those chapters. Not that I mind, of course. Just saying. And with this chapter came more name drama. Oh, you have no idea. Silly me got my hopes up at the beginning there that Draco might say something like 'you can call me Draco' but more suave and sexy than that. But nope. I really should have known better.

On a related note, that man must have Herculean willpower. Though I must say, his sexy ministrations are kind of creepy. I mean, I know Ginny's perfectly willing here, but it still seems like he's taking advantage of her, it always kind of does. Like she's somehow just playing right into his hands, even though she, and to an extent we, don't know it.

Anyway, I apologize for the shortness of this review. But this was another brilliant chapter, and I look forward to reading more soon. =)

Author's Response: Thankyou! :) And you obviously must be psychic... (snickers with knowledge of plot devices to come, VERY soon.) You're perceiving exactly what I'm foreshadowing here, I think. Some major developments are coming up in the next couple of chapters, and it remains to be seen what Draco will reveal, and how Ginny will respond... ;)

Oh no way!

*does a jig* He said it! He really did! Finally, after 52 chapters of agonizing surname/sweetheart-ness he finally called her Ginny! Oooh, but this is just wonderful!

But, ahem, moving on. Has their bond been cemented now? And what, exactly, was the meaning of those visions, or whatever it was, that Ginny was having. I mean, I don't think she's a Seer, so is she seeing what may happen, or is she just so overwrought that she's going delusional? Well, you probably can't answer that. But I did think it was a bit strange. But then, this entire story is a bit strange, and that's why I love it. =)

So, anyway, this chapter was brilliant, and the suspense is killing me, so I'm going to cut this review short and read the next chapter now.

Amazing!

Author's Response: He did! And yes, the part of Draco that emerged and said her name is a real and important one, but it's a part that he's decided he has to keep hidden. I can't say what the actual meaning of Ginny's Azkaban visions is, but these will be VERY important much later on. But she's not delusional. And she's not seeing what will happen in the future. That's all I'll say. ;) And thank you!

Reviewer: TuesdayNovember Signed
Date: Jan 12, 2011 Title: Chapter 53: Chapter 53

Oh, of course. He finally says her name, and ten minutes later, he can't even remember it. Lovely. And that's exactly something you'd do to us, isn't it. Oh well, I can't say I don't love it.

But I'm glad, at least, that the bond is cemented, and that things seem to be at least a little bit more clear in the future. Though, this IS you writing, so how clear it could possibly be, I'm not quite sure.

And of course you say that it's all gon' go down in the next chapter, which leads me to believe that no, their futures will not be bright and cheery the way I half wish it were. Does this mean we'll find out what sinister things Draco's plotting? (Because I have no doubt that he's always plotting sinister things.)

Another brilliant chapter. =)

Author's Response: Thanks! ;) But that's kinda how Draco is at this point. (in the first half of Part Two, that is.) The part of him that can call Ginny by her name has been very much suppressed, and when he's back to himself, he really *doesn't* remember it. Yes, a lot of what Draco's actually plotting at this point becomes clear in the next couple of chapters, all right... snerk... I sort of see Draco's character development continuing to happen in these chapters, though. We can see how he's evolved from the previous May (Chapters 20-35), where he first let the really cruel side of character have its way when it came to Ginny, and then reined it in and married Astoria in an attempt to protect her. But he's still trying to have something else, and we soon find out what it is, how he tries to do it, and how Ginny responds to it. Another major character development for Draco is actually coming up after Chapter 70, and readers will soon find out what it is... so just keep reading. ;)

Oh dear. So that's the evil, diabolical, kitten-slaughtering plan Draco was plotting? Well, it certainly explains a lot. Really it does - we've gotten so many answers in this chapter. More about the Crystal Palace/stuff that the Malfoys own, and Draco's Plot. But somehow even when you give us answers, you still keep us guessing. Reading this is like watching Lost, but sexier and with a more coherent plot.

I'm not sure what exactly it was about this chapter, but I really liked it. The understated nature of it, perhaps? The return of Draco's watch? I think it's going in my Favourite Chapters List. Well, I think every chapter is on that list, but this is near the top, anyway.

I really hope to get caught up soon. I feel bad that I'm so far behind.

Author's Response: Thank you, thank you! Yes, Draco finally revealed the Evil Making-Ginny-A-Malfoy-Mistress-Plot-of-Doom, didn't he? No kittens were harmed in the making of this plot, however (pets orange kitty by side of laptop.) And you're not that far behind! You'll catch up soon. :)

Oh wow. I don't know whether my heart breaks more for Ginny or Draco. (Yes, I know that sounds a bit silly.) This chapter was just...incredible. I feel like it may have been a bit of a turning point. I'm not sure, of course, and I could be absolutely wrong, but it had a sort of 'turning point'y feel to it.

And hey now! Those corridors are Draco's heart? Finally, a bit of explanation on that! The surreal-ness of those corridors always gets to me.

I think Ginny was probably right for leaving Draco then. He probably thinks she's being selfish and stuff, but I think she was actually being a bit more reasonable than usual. Though those semi-doomsaying bits from Draco about safety did tend to sway me in his direction.

The two of them are so damn stubborn, though! It's like neither of them can really say what they want to. I'm curious if Draco actually has feelings for Ginny, though. His actions in this chapter tend to make me lean towards 'yes', but then at other times they make me lean towards 'no'. My theory is that he's (still?) using Ginny as a sort of replacement for Marie (who I'm still dead curious about!)

Well anyway, I feel like I've done a good bit of rambling. This was an incredible chapter.

Author's Response: It doesn't sound silly at all! What I always hope to do is to bring the readers into the mysterious world where it really feels as if these things are happening, and we sense Draco and Ginny's pain as our own (but it's all a metaphor. Yes, that's it. Nervously eyes that white van following me. I can SEE those butterfly nets in the back... well, anyway... ;) The corridors are very surreal. They're a real place (part of the Crystal Palace), and when you catch up to the present time of the fic, you'll see that they can be other places too, but yes, they always represent Draco's heart-- it's just that Ginny is the only one who has really figured this out.

And I agree that Ginny did need to leave. She finally understood that at this point, she cannot know whether or not Draco has feelings for her-- if he does, he won't tell her, and he won't prove it to her by truly sacrificing anything for her. He may be doing this because he doesn't really feel anything for her besides obsession, or it may be that he does care and he's just trying to protect her, or... who knows what, really. But if he can't show that he cares about her, then she can't stay with him.

Much more to come, and I can't wait to see what your take is on all of it. :)

First, I'm terribly sorry about the absurd space between my reviews. Makes me feel like a bad reader. Forgive me, O Great Author!

Now, this chapter - wow! I've got to say I really do love Daphne. She seems like such a nice, sweet, wholely good person, quite unlike Astoria. It's strange to think that two people so unlike each other could be related - but then, with them having grown up apart, I suppose it does make sense.

I felt bad when Ginny sent Daphne away at the end, but I know she sort of had to do it. Her art needs to be done, and really, after all she's been through, she needs some space.

Zacharias is proving to be a bit of an enigma though. He's some sort of super-magical thingy (excuse my awful terminology =P) but I can't quite get my head around him. Why is it exactly that he cares so much about Ginny's art? Other than the obvious fact that his sister is in charge of the gallery. I wish I had some blindingly brilliant analysis for that, but I'm completely stumped. The best I can do is say that he used to be someone powerful who liked art. But that's not very insightful. =P

Regarding Sir Truman Sniffingsworth's identity...my guess is Andy Warhol, but I could be ridiculously wrong about that. Especially since I know next to nothing about art.

Anyway, this chapter was superb. And in closing, I must say that I'm glad Ginny's focusing on her art again. Because as much as I love reading about her adventures, she needs to buckle down and work, etc, etc.

Wonderful! =)

Author's Response: Oh, of course you're forgiven. Don't be silly! :) I love Daphne too, and she continues to have an important role to play in this fic. I don't know if I'd exactly say that she's nice *all* the time... but yes, she's good. I think that Daphne and Astoria made different decisions in life, particularly when it came to Draco, and those choices shaped their characters a lot. Daphne will definitely be back! :)

Zach is a really, really fun character, and he'll be back too. And Sir Sniffingsworth! You'll find out who he is pretty soon. It's important for Ginny to focus on her art, and she'll need to go back to that over and over in the weeks to come. Because a number of things will continue to be pretty distracting... ;)

Oh sweet everloving Jesus. I nearly died reading this chapter! Really, it was just too hilarious for words. And aah! I was right about Sir Sniffingsworth! I was totally not expecting to have gotten that right.

And I have to repeat that I absolutely adore your Daphne. She's such a good friend and a good person. Her little friend speech near the beginning made me smile, and her 'bitchiness' is wonderful too.

But holy goodness! Ginny and Draco are going to have to work together? I can't imagine that will end well. The both of them are so infuriatingly stubborn that I doubt they'd be able to work well together. But it will definitely be an interesting read.

This chapter was seriously one of my favourites. It was riotous. I. Loved. It.
(and I'm sorry I'm not reviewing very often anymore. Who knew classes and work could actually take precedence over enjoyment? I didn't.)

Author's Response: Thank you! :) I loved this chapter, too. And I really did try to lay the Sir Sniffingsworth = Andy Warhol hints-- kudos to you for picking up on them. The D/G coworker drama will be... interesting, let's just say.;) And thanks for any and all reviews. Life does get in the way!

So this chapter was a definite change from the last. Much less funny and much more serious. But I can't say that I dislike the change. You are, after all, something of a wonder at both. But I digress.

Was this a turning-point chapter? The epigraph combined with the shift on tone and mention of her having to go to the Ministry tomorrow makes me think it is.

And Ginny...has actually made a good choice? I'm a bit shocked, because I'm so used to having her make silly choices. But I'm definitely glad she's not having second thoughts about her choice not to have sex with Draco. But still, I'm concerned about all this Halloween-related doomsaying. What's going to happen now that Astoria left with Draco?

Also, I really, really liked the bit in the middle of this chapter, where Astoria in all her bitchiness comes in (and stands in the spotlight!) and the inclusion of those absurd art students. A boy clad only in hot pink duct-tape? Sounds like something out of a Lady Gaga video. =P

Are we going to get to see what it is Ginny wrote out? Because I'm quite curious about that.

Marvellously marvellous chapter! =D

Author's Response: Thanks! :) And yes, this is very much a turning-point chapter. I would say that it's the one where Ginny decides that she really has to get past what happened at the CP-- that she and Draco can't relate to each other on that basis (well, for now, anyway.) Now, the Halloween-related stuff! Draco had to make a choice, too. We don't know what that choice is yet, but it plays into the horrible stressfest that the next month will be for him. Poor Draco is torn in so many directions, and he's really, really trying to make everything work. And then Ginny just has to go and tell him *exactly* what she wrote on that parchment... ;) Yes, we'll find out what it is!

The Wedding Night of Draco and Astoria Malfoy by Anise    (Reviews - 38)

Draco married Astoria, but on their wedding night at the Malfoys’ private island off the coast of the South of France, he dreams only of Ginny. How much fun will that honeymoon be? Don’t freak out! It’s all going to be okay. Take deep breaths… oh, just read it. ;) A three-shot companion piece to Draco’s Dangerous Dilemma, it takes place during the events of Chapter 26.

From Chapter Three:

“You simply don’t understand,” Draco told Ginny. “And you might be a bit more appreciative of the fact that I made that sacrifice for you. I can assure you that seeing Astoria in a white dress and not bursting into laughter immediately was a sacrifice indeed. Then, when I was forced to share air space with that skinny slag in her lingerie-- ouch! What did you do that for?” He snatched his hand back. She’d scratched her nails down his skin.

“You seeing Astoria in lingerie,” Ginny said passionately. “That’s why.”

“It’s not as if I liked it!” Draco shuddered.

Oh, this was kind of sweet. Like, the depressing, tragic kind of sweet, but sweet nonetheless.
I especially liked what you did with the last paragraph, the 'would, could, should' thing.

Oh, well this was certainly a good deal less sweet. Draco's being creepy again, with the whole purifying thing, and even though it's kind of sweet, it's a whole lot more creepy.
Also, I've got to tell you again, you've really got a way with dreams. They're as strange as real ones, and in a way it's a bit disconcerting to read, because they're so foggily strange and meaningful and realistic.

Author's Response: Yes... um, as you noticed, Draco did show his creepy side much more here. He's definitely got one, and in this fic, it kind of had free rein...

Oh goodness me. I don't know what to say about this. Your writing is erratic in this fluid way that makes it not erratic in a bad, spastic way, but in a way that everything seems to be mixed together in turns. I mean, you've got weird, creepy dreams, drama and humour. Piles and piles of humour. Loki literally made me laugh, he's so...I don't think there are even words for what he is. But then of course there are the intense dreams and the Draco/Ginny/Astoria drama as well.
This little added bit of the story was awesome and interesting and just all round super. =)

Author's Response: Snerk. Thanks.... Anyway, this ficlety fic was... I don't know if I would exactly say it was FUN to write, because that seems to imply a degree of ease in writing that really did not happen here. Many revisions went into the making of TWNoDaAM (it even has an unwieldy acronym.) But I think that it was important for the development of Draco's character. It was the only way that he was able to get even a *little* bit of distance from his obsession for Ginny. That obsession has never really gone away, but he's made a conscious decision to let go of as much cruelty as he can. As extreme as he's sometimes been since, the frightening Draco that we saw at the cottage in May has never really returned, and it's because of the choices that he made here.

Malfoy In a Glass, Darkly by Anise    (Reviews - 129)

Many years ago, Draco Malfoy made a choice that led him very far away from Ginny Weasley, and the life that they might have shared. But not only is it hopeless to fight fate, its paths have a strange way of turning when you least expect them to, as a very unexpected person later learns...

Chapter FOURTEEN Quote of the Day:

“It can’t be worse than going to Romania. James is getting worse by the day. Lily doesn’t care about anything but her broom. And Mum and Dad—“ Albus breaks off.

Ginny. Scorpius can feel his face stiffen, and he has to conjure a coughing fit to cover it. Incredible how simply hearing of her, not even hearing her name, is enough to cause that stab of feeling in him. Just when he thinks that he’s over that sort of thing entirely—

“The point is, I’m so glad I can go with you,” sighs Albus.

Maybe I ought to wish that you couldn’t, thinks Scorpius. For your own good.

Surprisingly enough, I actually HAVE read another Draco/Ginny/Scorpius story. But this is still quite unique, no doubt about that.

I love your characterization of Scorpius here. I'm not typically fond of next gen stories, but your Scorpius, along with James, Albus and Rose, are incredibly well done. Realistic, honestly written characters that I can care about - and after only one chapter, I already do.

I'm very interested in seeing what it is you're going to do with the path poor Scorpius has to follow. I've a feeling it's going to be awfully tragic, especially when you've set it up with Dravo being so cold and cruel, and the almost dire foretellings of the Sorting Hat.

All that's left is to say that this was a very intriguing first chapter and that I'm very much looking forward to reading more. (And also that I haven't forgotten about Draco's Damgerous Dilemma - I will get caught up, I swear!)

Marvellously written. =)

Author's Response: Thanks! Wow, another D/G/S fic. Now I want to read it. :) I don't normally like next gen fics-- they just never really seem to work that well, IMHO-- but this one just came to me, and there was no getting rid of it. I saw who this Scorpius was, and he's definitely very different from his father. But as for whether or not his path is a tragic one... well, you'll just have to wait and see! ;)

Yes, I'm afraid that this Draco ended up having some real issues. He's had to suppress so much of his warmth and love and tenderness because of the choices he made when he let go of Ginny, and ended up with Astoria. But remember, we don't yet know exactly how things are going to end up... ;) More soon!

WOW.

So, by some awful change in my email system, I never got any alerts for this, and I didn't realize it had been updated (eight times over) until today.
I have a LOT of catching up to do. *sighs*

But more to the point. This is fast becoming a favourite of mine. I really love the way you've characterized Scorpius here. He's such a normal child, and yet not quite normal at all. He seems so sad, and so alone, even when he is with his friends, there's something of a distance. I just want to give the poor boy a hug. =(

I really liked the way you began this chapter, with the very distant sort of description of his life as time passes, with less focus, in a way, on him, and more on his father and his dreams. Those seem to be what really guides him, the important things, I suppose.

I'm also curious about something, and I'm not sure if I'm just reading into this too much, but Scorpius mentions dragon's fire to Trelawney, and when Draco sees him, he mentions the dragon's fire pox is coming again, and I wonder if there is any subtle connection, considering Scorpius' give of Sight.

Further, I want to know if this, "He always wakes up just before he begins to harden into stone, gasping for air" is a very subtle way of saying something of his 'sexual coming of age.' Not sure if I'm reading into things too much.

In closing, this was marvellously written, I can't wait to keep reading, and I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to review.

Author's Response: Hi TN! :) Wow, how perceptive you are!! You caught TONS of things here that I don't think anybody else did... yes... dragon's fire pox will come into this fic again, and it will be very important. And er, yes, the hardening-into-stone thing did indeed imply just what you thought it did. I'll be updating this fic pretty soon-- it's just that DDD has been on such a roll! :)

Stunning.

Each chapter delves a little bit deeper into the mystery of Draco and Ginny -- enough that we get tiny tidbit, but are still left craving more. So, we know that Draco and Ginny had something going on in their youth, but we don't know why, and we don't know what happened, except that it (most likely) ended badly, maybe over the winter holidays? Which is why Draco refuses to be around for them? I'm not sure...

Other than that, though, I'm completely loving Scorpius and Albus. Their interactions outside The Great Mystery of their Parents are wonderfully done. At times amusing, and always very realistic. I loved their little discussion while the Nott and Crabbe Jrs were attacking their sexuality. And Alec Zabini is just perfect -- charming, funny and, well, nice. His introduction made me grin.

And now we know (or do we? Neville could have lied, of course...) that Scorpius is definitely Draco and Astoria's son. Which, if he's having erotic thoughts of Ginny, is DEFINITELY a good thing. Though I suppose if Ginny were his mother, it would add some nice Oedipal angst...

Once again, an amazing chapter. I'm totally loving this new story! =)

Author's Response: Thanks! Oh gosh, such great reviews... We do learn exactly what happened between Draco and Ginny, of course. The answers aren't in the fic as posted yet, but they will come. And yes, Scorpius is Draco and Astoria's son for sure. Much more to come after this, of course!

!

*shock*

Is that the same Marie from DDD? The mysterious one? Oh my, more mysteries...

Hmm...so some new information, of sorts. Draco wrote something awful to Ginny, which made her cry. And I must say, there's something rather disturbing and wrong about the way Scorpius feels about Ginny. Not so much the fact that she's so much older, but the way he seems to want to (the way I see it) step in for his father.

The interaction between Draco and Scorpius is very strained, almost to the point of being painful. Draco really isn't a good father, and it's times when I see them together that I really feel bad for Scorpius. I mean, I suppose Draco IS trying, but their interaction is so tense. It really is as if they're strangers.

...and now I will reiterate the fact that Scorpius being in love with Ginny is rather disturbing, as is the way both Scorpius and Draco seem to be treating her more as an object than a person, with all this, "she's mine!" "No, she's mine!"-ness. It's interesting, actually, because for all their supposed posession of Ginny, she has had no say so far, and I really wonder who, if either of them, she would choose if given the choice...

Also, I really like Rose. She's like a little Hermione, it's sort of cute and rather funny.

Once again, I loved this chapter.

Author's Response: Is it thse same Marie from DDD? In a way, yes, absolutely. In a way, not at all. (hahahahahha.... Anise runs off laughing....) Anyway. You're right that there's a terrible tension between all three members of the Draco/Scorpius/Ginny triangle, in every permutation of those relationships. In the next few chapters (that aren't posted yet), things become much more clear. I also like Rose very much, and we're going to see more of Lily soon, too.

Oh-ho! So it IS the same Marie! Very curious. Very curious indeed. (How old is she, exactly? =/)

Anyway, this was yet another very interesting chapter. I'm quite curious about both the nature of Draco and Ginny's past relationship and the nature of Scorpius' gift of Sight. But now I wonder -- I thought he couldn't See the past, but that vision of Draco and Ginny must have been just that. Very strange...

Also, I loved the final few lines of this chapter -- a perfect mix of both humour and melacholy.

Loved it!

(and sorry about the brief review!)

Author's Response: Oh, you never have to be sorry about any kind of review.... the mystery of why Scorpius could see the vision of the past is cleared up in the next chapter, of course.
