What Potter Doesn't Know by Pipperstorms    (Reviews - 38)

Potter is an idiot. He sits there, flirting, horribly, I might add, and still he gets no where. That’s because he doesn’t know the rules, wouldn’t know them even if they bit him. Fortunately, I know the rules. Not that it matters, the rules don’t apply to me. I’m not arrogant; I’m right. It isn’t being cocky if it’s true. When he wouldn’t pay her any attention, she went and found someone who would. Lucky girl, she caught the eye of the only man in this school who knew how to worship her properly.

Promise Us Everything by Eustacia Vye    (Reviews - 130)

The fallout of a magical clandestine war is difficult to wade through, and reconstructing society takes work to be done right. Unfortunately, too many old prejudices remain. Ginny sees the world for what it is and is determined to fix it properly. This leads to all sorts of unlikely allies.

Overall, I liked the story.
I felt like the pace was too fast in the beginning. Like their relationship developed too quickly and we missed out on some things because of it. I wasn't a huge fan of Pansy's characterization, either. I liked the character in general, but not as Pansy. It just didn't mesh with the view I have of her.
I liked the storyline, though, and how Victorian it all was. I love me some Regency romance, so it's nice to see elements of it in D/G fics. I also liked Ginny's characterization.

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the story overall, even if some of it didn't fit your headcanons. I definitely had Regency romances in mind while writing this, and I am a huge fan of them, too. :)

The fuck? Dude. The fuck? That is not how you end a story. I want more of THIS story. I loved it.

I would have liked to SEE the development of his feelings, because it's clear that he had them before she did, but they appeared kind of suddenly after a time gap. It wasn't jarring but... I'm not sure if I'm articulating what I mean very well. There may not even have been a great way to do it since the story's told entirely from her point of view.

I really liked this story and I wish we could have gotten the answers to the questions you left us with.

Millions and Millions of Malfoys (And One Very Sleep-Deprived Ginny) by Anise    (Reviews - 401)

Ginny Weasley is absolutely sure that Draco Malfoy is hatching a particularly evil plot as junior head of the Ministry Department of Culture, and that it definitely involves puppy-strangling, bribing officials, and consistently wearing trousers tailored very tight in back. Or at least it's a theory that makes sense when she's been surviving on two hours of sleep a night for far too long, and Draco keeps vetoing her sketches for the new marble statues at the Ministry fountain. But then Luna Lovegood gives her a potion with some very curious effects, and Ginny finds that she just may have to revise her opinions about those evil trousers...

Well. I made the mistake, yet again, of not checking to see if a fic was completed before I started reading it. I see in your reply to the last review (the 400th, grats btw) that you said you had not forgotten this story. You'll have to forgive me if I have trouble believing you at this point. ;p Which is so frustrating because it was finally going to come back around to the future (err, present?) and make some actual progress. *growls in frustration*

Just for the record, I would be interested in seeing that revision. While I found the Twilight tie-in to be intriguing and amusing, it did distract some from the D/G goodness. Though I confess that I'm not really sure how you would get to this same point without all of it. Here's to hoping that some day, I'll get closure on this story. It seemed to me to be leading to an angsty and tragic ending where they don't get to be together.

On an unrelated note, have you ever seen Tuck Everlasting? These past couple of chapters had me flashing to the scene where Jesse and his family are leaving, at night in the rain, and he says "Winnie Foster, I will love you until the day I die." (Pre-pubescent me cried because, of course, he never would. Is it sad that it's probably been at least 12 or so years since I've seen that movie, but I still remember that scene so clearly and it still tugs at my heartstrings? I'm leaning towards yes...) Anyway, I'm not sure why, because Draco and Jesse behaved in completely different manners, but - there you have it. Maybe that connection is why I was thinking this was going to end in tragedy.

Author's Response: Hi-- I just saw this!! I'm not sure if YOU will ever see this... ;) but thanks so much for the review. Actually, believe it or not, I've been thinking about reworking a few of these older on-hiatus fics, because I think they ran into some snags and that's why they were never finished. This one is a good example. I really don't know WHY the weird Twilight connection ended up being in here, but it probably was not the best idea and kind of threw the narrative off the tracks. So I think that what I'd have to do would be to go back and reboot the story at a certain point. I even know exactly where it would be... so it just might eventually happen! :)

Promises by recension    (Reviews - 58)

In the back of her mind, Ginny had always sensed there would be wild adventures with her and Harry. The early days of their time together–fighting evil and playing sport–felt like lifetimes ago. The most adventuresome thing they had done together in recent memory was a spontaneous shagging in the garden. It was so domestic that it pained her how common they were. The greatest wizard of his generation, and his wife, getting their thrills from a shag in the garden. She had never thought this future would be hers.

Aww... I'm not a big fan of cheating, but I loved this story. I also still haven't gotten used to Fully Compliant stories, but this was wonderful. I find them in general to be depressing because 19 years is a lot of time to waste with someone you're not going to live out the rest of your life with. But this story somehow... I don't know. It doesn't make it ok, because that is NOT OK, but - it makes it sting less, I guess.

The timeline hopping was a little confusing. I feel like a distinct separation might help with that. Doing something like
~.~
to separate memories from current events. I also wish that the DA graffiti memory had come up between Ginny and Draco. It's not important, but I would have enjoyed a small discussion scene about it.

It seems that you don't frequent this site anymore, but should you ever see this review, know that I would love that follow up. I would obviously love to see more D/G interaction, but also Scorpius/Ginny and James, Albus, and Lily/Draco as well. There is, of course, Draco and Scorpius's integration into the Weasley clan to explore, too. All in all, I loved this story and wish there were more.

I'm not sure if I've reviewed this or not. If so, here's another.

This story. It makes my chest tight. Gets me going a bit, too, if I'm being completely honest, but more than that, it... Touches me. Draco is so vulnerable and in some places it was a little OOC, but it felt right. It makes me wistful; I loved someone like that, once, but I've never experienced it mutually. I wonder if it would've been like this or if your story is another in a long line that builds love up to something it can't possibly be in real life. Your story is so visceral. It was certainly worthy of the awards it won.

What? The end? But... Astoria... I need closure! I agree with Anise. While not seeing them together doesn't make me happy, I can kind of get over it. But I need to know what the hell was going on with Astoria and why it took that git so long to come see her. I suppose that's not a thing, though, unless that chapter was posted separate from this story, since it's been a few years since you've talked about it.
Also, a scene with Lucius and Ginny might have been nice. I feel like he might have some things to say to her about his son's imprisonment. Perhaps also some grudging thanks for his wife.

D&G by rowan_greenleaf    (Reviews - 10)

"Like what you see?" he inquired.
"Yes," she said simply.
Draco rolled the sleeves of his shirt up to his elbows, his eyes never leaving hers. He walked up to her slowly, allowing his gaze to brazenly run down the length of her body. "And?" Another step and he was standing just in front of her, less than an arm's length away. "Do you intend to do something about it?"

I seriously loved the D & G thing, btw. So corny and cute and even though Ginny's the one who came up with it, the fact that Draco keeps referencing it is so adorable.

I can't believe there are so few reviews on this. It's a great little story. I loved the dialogue. I feel like you captured them pretty well: the snark and sarcasm between them, Draco's petulance and selfishness, Ginny's fierce independence and lack of need for a savior... Spot on.
I'm fairly certain I've read this before (the drinking game scene is pretty memorable...) and I also think it really struck a cord for me because I wrote a little drabble that was rather similar to your scene in her flat. The dialogue anyway. If I ever post it or include it in a story, I'll be sure to credit you. Funny how the mind works. I'm sure it had been months between reading this and writing the drabble, with an absurd amount of other stories in between.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the fic and their dynamic. I look forward to reading your other stuff.

The Language of Flowers by Anise    (Reviews - 8)

Draco and Ginny once shared a night at Malfoy Manor that they've never forgotten. In the years between, they've drifted very far apart. But now, when the wizarding world is plunged into crisis, they just might find each other again...

Quote from Chapter 4...

“If you think I’m going to… to do things for you so that you let my brother and Hermione and Harry go—“ she said heatedly.

“What?” Malfoy blinked, and for a second, he honestly looked shocked, as if he hadn’t expected things to move so quickly either. As if he didn’t have any more control than she did.

As the two of them stood staring at each other, a number of quick, sharp raps rattled at the door.

He muttered something that had led to Ginny getting her mouth washed out with soap when she'd said it at the age of nine and then raised his voice just enough for her to hear his next words. “Weasley, be quiet, for gods’ sake.”

Ack! I thought you had posted your whole fic. Bollocks. Now I'll have to wait for the rest.

I love the flower language thing. Is that your own creation, or did you use sources for that? Could you share those with me, if you did? I mean, I know that there is a flower language, but I was wondering if you played with it any. I find the whole thing fascinating.

As with all good stories, you've dropped us off in the middle. We don't know what happened in the past, what's going on now, or where it's all headed. All of which adds up to a guaranteed reader for the next chapter so that I might find those things out.

Author's Response: No, no, one chappie at a time. ;) I did use a lot of different sources for the flower language. I'll find them and send the links to you. I didn't invent any meanings, BUT I am very very familiar with all of these flowers and pictured the garden the entire time. :) Our family business is landscaping and gardening. Much more to come!
