One chance encounter changes the direction of two lives. Years later, their lives collide again, and the past begins to haunt, as it so often does. [written for the Spring 2007 D/G Fic Exchange]Category: Long and Completed
I'm surprised that such a well-written and emotional story hasn't received more reviews. I really like what you're doing here... you've created a lot of depth in the characters. I'm interested to see how the past will resurface and how they will each deal with the baggage they are carrying from the war and from their former "relationship." Update soon! :)
Ginny is twenty four, and the war rages on. Draco is a Death Eater, and he needs her help. Of course, he doesn't give her a choice. Now she's surrounded by the enemy. She begins to see that not everything is black and white. Can she come to terms with her new role in his life?Category: Works in Progress
I must confess (ashamedly) that I have been gripped by this story from the beginning, checked daily for updates, and still never reviewed. But here I am, finally, to probably gush too much in effort to make up for my lack of response throughout.
First off, your character develoment borders on perfection. The way Draco and Ginny have become acclimated to and softened toward each other has seemed such a natural progression, yet when I look back to the beginning of the story I marvel at how you have achieved this. And I have to thank you and your writerly wisdom for not having them jump too quickly into romance, or even lust, OR even trust. The pacing of this story is just right. Even now, when they're on the verge of saying "I love you," we can tell that they're not quite ready. In my mind, it seems that their love for each other has been born of a need for each other (though Draco has never overtly showed or said that he needs Ginny), and it may take just a bit more time for them to love each other as people.
And also, to go along with that, I've been wondering if Draco is going to show any sort of vulnerability to Ginny... all this time he has been stoic and collected, which you have executed believably and sexily (yes, I just made "sexy" an adverb), but I'm waiting for a moment when something truly damages him and he turns to Ginny for comfort. I'm not complaining, of course, or suggesting that his character is static because this hasn't happened explicitly... just commenting/predicting it's something that I can sense might be looming in the future.
Well. I'm done rambling. If there were a rating system on the site, I'd give this story five stars, hands down. One of my favorites, ever. Thanks for writing and being awesome at it! :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much. I have really tried to make their situation and their emotions believable. I believe Draco will come to a crossroads where he has to make a decision and he will have to let Ginny in to do that. Thanks again for this review. It made my day.
After frighteningly realistic dreams lead Ginny to France, she finds herself thrust into the middle of a war no one knows about, led by a man no one would have ever suspected. Can she save him from an unimaginable fate? Will she make it out of France alive?Category: Works in Progress
I... I can't stop there! This story has such a grip on me... more so than any DG piece I've read in a while. Maybe ever. When will the next installment be ready??? I randomly came across this story a few days ago and have been savoring every word, making it last as long as possible. I love your characterization of Draco. I love the unspoken commitment and compassion between him and Ginny. And you, as a writer, have an incredible sense of pace, knowing when to escalate and when to slow down... you give just enough DG interaction and then pull back to leave the audience wanting more. Brilliant. Please, please... update soon??
