oh alright... i guess you guilted me into reviewing. i've been enjoying your work for a while now, and this is just my first review. you're right though, now is a lovely place to start. this chapter has everything - with poor draco dealing with his emotions, cautious but encouraging conversation between ginny & scorppius, and realistic interaction between lily & scorpius (love the prank war). all very well-writtern as the previous chapters were.
i usually don't like to read wips, but your first chapter really caught my attention, and now i'm hooked. you're a wonderful writer, and i appreciate your regular updates... hint, hint.

i have a feeling things will get worse before they get better. i know draco is a mess and ginny is miserable, but please don't make them break-up!
the way you presented their pain is brilliant. that scene at the jokeshop (ironic, come to think of it) where people were unforgiving, draco's anguish, ginny's tears, and that line of draco's at the end... heartbreaking!!!

Lily did suffer some hardships this chapter, and you\'ll see how this affected her a little later on. Things are getting messy, and none of my characters are happy right now, much to their and my dismay. Thanks so much for recognizing Embellished as well. She certainly deserves a lot of credit.
i just got to say... "go george!" :) i'm glad for ginny's epiphany so she was able to deal with her mum (mean, mean molly!) i felt her fear there near the end when she couldn't find draco at first. the last scene was very touching. good thing draco's not drinking (anymore?). he's right though, they can face anything as long as they stay strong together.

poor draco. i wonder when we will learn the whole backstory there... hmm maybe really soon(?). it's good though that he's trying especially for lily's sake. it's nice too that lily is very perceptive, she's almost protective about her dad. meantime, i feel like i have to brace myself (for disaster) when the boys come to visit.

boy, i had about two minutes of seesawing emotions while reading this. at first i was 'yay, a midweek update!' then, what's up with the chapter title? no way that it could be a prelude to valentines. then, i wanted to smack james for being such a prat, but i'm glad that at least albus is trying. poor draco, dealing with his demons while bearing all the stress about the boys, not wanting to burst ginny's bubble. and then i was starting to feel a little smug when my suspicions about ginny was about to be confirmed... but then, scorpius! no, you're not that cruel...... are you?
and to think i thought i prepared myself for cliffies after your warning. gahh! this is getting so 'unputdownable' - so let's just say, i'll be checking back this weekend. thanks :-)

oh no kidding, the angst you put us through my friend. you were pure evil right there at the start, i tell you. but yay! i was right about ginny... go me! one good news at least, if only ginny & draco are not dealing with so much right now. poor lily, for things to be so lousy on her birthday, at least scorpius came through (whew!).
that was brilliant, the way you come up with what happened between james & scorpius. i was really hoping it wasn't the curse that harry used on draco. as it is, draco will find it hard to forgive james, but i think their relationship will be irreparable if it was the sectumsempra. wow, the way you described the emotions on that last scene, especially draco's through ginny's eyes, then ginny's conflict.

nothing like a little sibling jealousy there to see that scorpius is back to normal, which is good. "i am in pain!"... lol. i'm afraid i don't get what ginny is so angry about, after all draco had been 'more' in the right. ;) even though this ended in another cliffie (as i said before, evil!), it's good that we are finally at this point. they are both finding it hard to say what needs to be said, and draco is so anguished that i'm almost relieved he's finally going to share his demons with ginny. good or bad, make or break? waiting to exhale...

As for Ginny\'s anger, Embellished and I really struggled to get that right, and while I tried to make it as followable as I could under Draco\'s POV, you\'re going to have to wait until next chapter to see where that\'s coming from. Wow! For a relatively short chaptered fic, you managed to show some incredible depth like with the little conversations Ginny had with Dumbledore. That passage from the Bible at the end is one of my favorites, Oprah even quoted it in one of her shows a week or two ago.

Author's Response: Yes, that is definitely one of my favorite Bible passages. And as a reader I am partial to fic that is already finished. wow, draco is falling in love "for the first time" in his long life! i like seeing the vulnerable draco in stories, and you write it so well. the idea of them getting together this late in life is something new and interesting, i'm enjoying it. thanks for continuing to come up with wonderful fics, and the regular updates.

i love ginny's response to draco's tantrum so they were able to resolve things quickly, but love even better her boldness and no-nonsense 'suggestion' that sure stunned draco. giggles about their snogging session - lightheaded with giddiness and lack of oxygen - now that's too precious a vision. sighs at the simple but touching proposal. they're engaged!!! thanks for the quick update. i understand now why you had to cut the last chapter right where you did... very effective!

wonderful! you wrote the whole scene so well, it's like i'm watching a movie in my mind. i'm picturing scorpius to be an entertaining (dramatic entrance), funny (justine-speak), genial version of draco despite his school rivalry with albus whom i'm blaming for it, if he's more obstinate than harry. but i'm glad albus came around, and his offer to give ginny away is just the right touch (heart, heart!). now i'm off to search yahoo for a ginger biscuit recipe... your description is such that i can almost taste it.

By the way, there's a really excellent recipe for Molasses cookies at the end of my story "Baking Lessons"--they've got ginger in them in addition to the molasses, and I highly recommend them!
wow! the way you presented it in draco's pov after the wedding has taken place worked so well! your description of draco's feelings throughout is so incredibly touching. i'll take a sappy draco anytime. ginny's statement that 'she feels like her whole life has been leading towards this, to him' - somehow erased the sour taste that the canon epilogue left me. you gave it just the right touch of humor and details, and the ending... perfection!
