Frozen by Lunaeyes    (Reviews - 181)

*Completed* Draco spent his childhood being frozen out by everyone. By his father, by his mother, by everyone in his life. So now he freezes everyone else. It's cold, but it's safe.

A girl with flaming hair and a fiery soul can save him, but only if he'll let her.

Huh? What's going on with that door? Is it locked or not? It locked and then neither Draco nor Ginny could open it. I'm assuming Draco couldn't because you said previously, "Draco motioned with his wand at the door, but it remained the same." I read this twice last chapter, to make sure you meant he tried to "Alohomora" it. Then in this chapter, Ginny tries what looks like the same spell and the door opens? WTF? Does a little nookie work to unlock a door? Why bother even having the door lock? At this point, they are both so hormonally drawn to each other, wouldn't it make sense for them to kiss without that external push? Especially when she is able to just waltz right out and it feels as though the reader was manipulated into expecting them to have to deal with the consequences of their physical interaction right then and there without an easy out.

If I put that issue aside (which may not be an issue b/c I might have missed something), I thought the chapter was quite sweet and evocative. Thanks for the update, as usual!

Author's Response: Ah, haha, I was wondering if you were going to catch that. It was poorly explained, I know, but it was for a reason. All will be explained next chapter, I promise that was no mistake. Thank you for your kind thoughts. You always keep me on my toes. Lunaeyes

Thank you for a wonderful, emotionally evocative chapter that lands our favourite pair right where we want them to be - in each other's arms. However, the tension in the background, Narcissa's failing health, Lucius' sneering, and Potter are calling as well. Can't wait to see where you will be taking us with this one. Another fabulous chapter!

Author's Response: Aha, thank you so much for the thoughtful review, as always. Yes, all of those problems are calling. But they\'re right around the corner. ~Lunaeyes

Aw, Draco loves Ginny. He's nicking her clothes and sharing his jumper with her and putting their initials together all over the place. All's well that ends well EXCEPT that it's NOT over. Argh! This is a bad sign.

And, of course, Harry-worthless-Potter has the nerve to waltz his way into this fic! This is another bad sign. I see troubled waters ahead.

I don't know what you've got up your sleeve, but please remind Ginny that she loves Draco and Draco loves her and that Harry was a selfish coward who left her behind.

Author's Response: Thank you for the thoughtful review, as always. You\'re right, it isn\'t over. It would have been a nice place to end though... Harry is waltzing back, yes, and that does signify some trouble. I will try to pass your message on to Ginny, but that girl doesn\'t always listen to me. Cheers, Lunaeyes

Oh, Draco, that chip on your shoulder is showing. How sad that he trampled on Ginny's heart and pushed her away due to his own insecurities. But such is the life of the littlest Malfoy with his narcissistic tendencies. I suspect we'll get to see him work his way back into her good graces soon enough, stupid git.

And what about that yet to fall hero, HP, who came back not for love but the burning desire to defeat Voldemort, the only thing his heart seems to be able to wrap itself around? Is he the real snake in the grass, manipulating Ginny for his own ends or will that mutual end help them both?

Wonderful chapter, Lunaeyes! So many puzzle pieces have been brought to the table. So many questions to be answered. I can't wait to see if Draco's love for Ginny and hers for him can withstand this massive Potter invasion! Bravo! It was well worth the wait.

Author's Response: Oh, thank you, thank you, as always for the thoughtful review. Draco does tend to have some issues with insecurities. I\'m glad someone caught on to Harry\'s manipulative tendancies, because that boy sometimes gets on my nerves. :)

Holy shit! Even though I knew it, I didn't know it would be like this. Perfect. Just perfect. I loved the overlapping layers of confusion and attachment running wild amongst all of your players. Nothing is simple or straightforward. The most magnificent part was how the the threads running through the chapter concentrated in that last interaction amongst the three of them, leaving Draco holding the bag full of what? What? It isn't what he thinks it is, that's for sure. But Ginny has been keeping secrets, hasn't she?

Looking forward the the next chapter... most definitely! Awesome job!

Author's Response: Oh, you certainly know how to make a girl blush. They're weaving a tangled web.

I can't believe it. You even write REVIEWS better than me. :P Thank you as always, Lunaeyes

Trouble's a foot in the Wizarding World with yet another wonderful chapter. What have you done? It seems as though Draco believes that Ginny has betrayed him, by scheming and plotting with Potter from the beginning to get him to do the Order's bidding. His heart has frozen over with pain? Or has it? You've certainly set us readers up to believe that in this particularly heart wrenching chapter, as we watch Draco blunder ahead, too ready to assuming the worst about Ginny.

Or is there another reason for him pushing her away from him? That's the optimist in me, wanting to believe he is protecting her in some way. But could his eyes belie him? It's hard to believe. Yikes! How my heart aches - in the most wonderful way possible, though. You know I deight in these kind of dark twists and turns. Well done, lunaeyes! Well done. I will wait patiently until your next chapter - whenever it may be, It will be well worth the wait. - fallenwitch

Author's Response: Aw, thank you. I have been awaiting this review quite anxiously. I\'m so glad you enjoyed it. It was painful to write, painful to read, and it will be painful to continue. But I\'m glad you\'re sticking with me. I would have never made it this far without you. -Lunaeyes

Fabulous chapter. It moves the story along and lets us see an interesting interaction between Draco and Harry. What moved Harry to reveal the truth to Draco? Was it the billions of Ginnys in the pictures that he had plastered everywhere looking down at him, strumming on his guilt? Was it the touch of nobility that JKR has installed in him that made him reveal the truth? Or was it the fact that he realized that no matter how much he wanted it to be another way, Ginny loved Draco and not him, period. Was it the fact that he had made his choice and left her for other duties, and the loss of her affection for him was one of the consequences of that choice? Don't know but it makes for interesting speculation.

Can't wait to see what happens next, now that Draco knows that Ginny loved him all along and was motivated to do what she did by the love of him and nothing else. OMG. Go get her back, Draco!

Author's Response: Oh, thank you. It does move things along. And Harry had his reasons for telling Draco. I don\'t like to make him as childish as some might, simply because I want to give him more credit than that. Harry\'s done some stupid things, but he\'s not the bad guy. Cheers, my friend.

*grinning from ear to ear* Wonderful job with the mothers' POVs; however, I think I would loved to have seen this one from Draco or Ginny's POV. It was hard to complete my voyeristic fantasies when Draco and Ginny Apparate off to the Manor and we're left in the bloody pub. Arrgh! -fallenwitch

Author's Response: Yes, I agree that the drawback of this story is that we don\'t get to see as much D/G as usual. But how much of their relationship would they really show to their mothers? I had a lot of fun writing this from the mothers\' POV, especially with thinking about how their voices would sound. And the story was pretty different from all of the other contest entries. But I think its downfall was exactly what you pointed out. The warm fuzzies are inherently limited. Ah well. I had fun writing it, and a lot of other people had fun reading it, so what more can I ask for? Thanks for reading and for the review!

Shall Rise Again by Peki    (Reviews - 292)

Sequel to Break in the sun (till the sun breaks down). For a few blissful hours, the differences between them did not matter. But as Draco and Ginny struggle with their budding relationship, they must soon discover that many things separate them still - family, friends and society as well as their own explosive tempers. The future they want for themselves comes at a price, and reconciling what they each want out of life is a challenge that might just break them apart...

Thank you for another wonderful chapter. It's nice to see Draco supporting Ginny's family ties after everything she's done for his family. I had forgotten how much her family pissed me off until Hermione came back into the picture!

Author's Response: Ha, and I thought Hermione wasn't even that annoying in this chapter *g* And yes, it's only fair for Draco to have to put up with GInny's family now, isn't it? ;-) Ahh, I love tormenting him. Thank you for reviewing, I love hearing what you think!

Draco and Ginny and Narcissa together against the world. Who would have thought? What a beautifully woven and evocative chapter. I adored it! Adored it, I tell you! As this chapter was approaching, I kept wondering how in the world you were going to write the thing, but here is it in all of its gloriously complex splendour. I take my hat off and bow down to you, Peki!

Author's Response: Lol, I kept wondering that too! It gave me quite a headache. So pleased that you enjoyed the final product! Thank you so much!

What a powerful chapter. That bruising, heartbreaking fight was an interesting one. (Hats off to you, peki. You throw a mean punch!) It was a perfect parallel between the Weasleys and the Malfoys as you've portrayed them. Ginny was almost knee jerk black and white/ right and wrong - like her family. And Draco was trying to justify his own selfish actions while sitting on pretty damn thin ice - his own initial manipulation and use of Ginny. Draco, like all of your Malfoys, is an elegant manipulator but underneath his cool exterior, he bleeds and hurts like the rest of them. *sighs* I thought his uncharacteristic, rather Weasley-like explosion at Narcissa, accusing her of using him - hah! - , was the perfect ending to the chapter. Thank you.

Author's Response: Thank *you*! I can\'t tell you how much I appreciate your comments, on lj and here :) I\'m sure I wouldn\'t have been able to wrap up this chapter in a semi-timely fashion if you hadn\'t encouraged me with your kind words, and this review totally made my day, too :) I\'m a very happy writer right now!

A witch has gotta do what a witch has gotta do, even if it means throwing an illegal Confudus charm on that unsuspecting Muggle! And she's complaining about Draco's morals! Still, I hope you bring this two around and mend Draco's heart as nicely as you mended Ginny's broken wrist. Lovely update, as usual. Thanks so much!

Author's Response: Thank you! I don\'t know if Confunding someone is illegal, but it\'s certainly not a nice thing to do! *g* But then, Ginny isn\'t just a nice girl through and through, I think, that\'s why she\'s interesting, and a match for Draco :) I\'m happy you liked it!

This chapter made my heart ache. It did. Draco needs Ginny, and you drive that right into my heart like a bloody dagger! Ouch! The palpable tension and the believable dialogue and the incredible passion underlying the scene was masterfully done - as always. It is always such a pleasure and a delight to witness the relationship between your Draco and Ginny. There are unlike any other Draco and Ginny I have ever read, and I love them! Thank you for this wonderful update!

Author's Response: Thank *you* for such a wonderful review! Your comments always make my day. I try really hard to make their relationship seem realistic and as problematic as it would inevitably be, and I\'m so pleased that you think it\'s working :) Yay!!

A chapter in which both mothers make an appearance! Narcissa and Ginny as allies. Hmm... formidable stuff. I liked the way they came together in the end, with the thought of Narcissa's horrid Mother-in-law as a catalyst for it. I thought Ginny's character was much more similar to Narcissa than Molly. Draco is simply drowning in strong willed women, isn't he?

A wonderful chapter, Peki, as always! What a surprise to find this waiting when FIA reopened. Thank you for the fabulous update!

Author's Response: Lol, yeah, poor Draco. But I enjoy this too much to write it any other way. I love Narcissa and Ginny, and I really wanted them to have a positive moment together. And Ginny's family really had to get back into this as well, so there'll probably be more of them soonish. Thank you so much for reviewing, I love knowing what you thought! :)

Well-written. Well-cast. Well-executed. My favourite aspect of this story, aside from its ending, was the many spaces and holes left in the story due to its third party narration. This allowed me to fill in the blanks with my own projections - the reasons for those baleful Weasley glances and Molly's waling and Draco's arms around Ginny. In my imagination, Draco crawled into Ginny's coffin, wrapped his arms around her, and cast one last Unforgivable to join her. Spectacular. Thank you very much.

Author's Response: I\'m glad you mentioned the \'holes\'; they\'re one of the main reasons I decided on my narrator. Thank you!

The viceral and visual snapshots of the two and their violent, unpredictable world are in focus and breathtaking as you've written them and presented them to us in this brief albumn.

Oh, I wish I had never read this little cookie of yours. I really do. Narcissa's dead. Draco's married to Ginny but in some horrid, delirious state. And Ginny is pregnant and waiting for Draco to wake up. Any other disaster you would like to befall the House of Malfoy or are you done?

I guess this means you've decided to forgo humorous, light and fluffy for now. Okay, I will add this to the list of things I will be looking forward to reading more of when you update. Nicely done if infuriatingly SHORT.

Author's Response: Well, I didn\'t address Lucius. And I must say I\'m feeling a bit of sympathy towards him these days. Maybe I could lock him up in Azkaban...oh wait, he\'s already there. I don\'t think I\'ve completely abandoned humor yet. But we\'ll see how things go...

This was my favourite line, "She was completely unashamed to be here, to be with him like this." For me, that summed up the whole feeling b/n D/G. The one part that didn't work for me was Draco holding Ginny up with her back against that rough stone wall (ouch!) as well as his gymnastics to get his pants off. I would have preferred some other position, perhaps using one of the tables and Ginny on top with Draco watching her and that tempest above. I liked the openess of her proposal and his sincere appreciation of her. There was nothing underhanded or dirty about it. It was lovely.

Author's Response: Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. Originally I had planned to have them on the Gryffindor table, but I couldn\'t get it to come out the way I wanted it.

OMG, I love it! I do. Persephone33 steals the challenge with this little gem! The dialogue in this was exceptionally well done. And I found the interchange b/c D&G to be wholly believable - right down to the Weasley flush and the Malfoy wink. And the warm spot it left in my heart didn't hurt either!
