When one life ends, another begins.Category: Completed Short Stories
What a fabulous, fabulous one shot! I was glued to my seat, entwined in the tale and the slow unfolding of the characters. I am partial to pub scenes and a slightly drunk Draco so this was heaven! Not only was this well written but it was wholly believable. Good job!
"Here's to you, 'bela!"
Author's Response: aww, thanks so much!!! I\'m so glad you read it *blushes* yeah...I always liked the idea of them living as Muggles for awhile during the war.
ah, thank you!!
They are the fatalities of fate, lamenting the despondent threads weaving today and tomorrow.Category: Completed Short Stories
Thank you for ripping my heart, throwing it in a blender and serving it up for tea a again. Argh! As hauntingly beautiful and disturbing the second time around as it was the first. Your Draco is trapped by his own foolish decision not the run. Why? Why didn't he run? There is no shame in running and grabbing a lifetime of happiness.
But it is his vicious jealous of Daphne and Zacharias that feels so very Draco here. If he cannot have the love of his life neither will anyone else. And now he is left with memories which will never be and " a past he cannot change and a girl he can no longer have", the one who turned on him, sorry or not. *cries*
Poignant. Painful. Heartbreaking. Thank you for posting this magnificent story. I LOVE it!
For anyone who has not read Stone Muses, it is a must read companion piece to this one and completes the circle of understanding.
Author's Response: Well this story wouldn\'t have been posted in the first place if it wasn\'t for your encouragement :D! I think the fact that he didn\'t run is going to haunt you for a while ;). Thanks for the great review!!
Draco spends a miserable Christmas without Ginny.Category: Completed Short Stories
Oh my, what a frightfully sweet holiday tale! And I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was that wonderful, slow twisting of your narcissistic, git of a Draco into that angst-ridden, tortured soul that showed up begging on Ginny's doorstep that drew me in and held me - right up until that wonderful moment when she throw herself into his arms. *sighs* Thank you so much for sharing this one with us. Nothing like a bit of warm and fuzzy to start off the holiday season!
Author's Response: I\'m glad that Draco\'s mental journey turned out well enough to keep even your attention. I couldn\'t put it in the story, because it would have broken the point of view, but I have this mental picture of Draco\'s face as he stands on Ginny\'s doorstep, and it encompasses everything you just said so succintly. Thank you very much for the review! I always find something interesting in your observations.
Written for the 2006 DG_Smutakkah fic exchange. It hasn’t always been an easy road for them, but sometimes it takes getting really good and lost to find the way home again.Category: Long and Completed
"Excuse me for wanting to take care of my family." Ouch! Isn't that such the typical line for a man to take and dive for cover behind? If he were really taking care of his family, Ginny wouldn't be accusing him of having an affair and in tears.
I am wondering if you were foreshadowing what is to come in sharing Draco's "almost" affair. Yes, even married people are attracted to others at times, but it is his heart and not another part of his anatomy that dictate his actions. A long term commitment such as marriage is made up of many things, and in the end, I suspect Draco's heart will lead him where he's been all along - home. Just a guess.
Thanks to Embellished for pointing me in the direction of this fic. Tackling a mid-life Draco and Ginny having relationship difficulties is not the easiest road in the world to take. I'm looking forward to seeing where you'll be taking us with this ride.
Author's Response: I say thanks to Embellished too!! And yes - Draco neatly hid behind that ages old excuse that he is only doing what he is for the sake of her and the children so what is the problem?!
And not to give anything away, but that sounds like a smart guess to me. And I am proud of the boyo for making the right choice.
So glad you came over to read and thanks for taking the time to review! ~Ves
Draco's a prat and a git and sissy X3 for leaving Gin like that and staying at the office before going to Japan.
I loved their discussion. There was so much truth in the words spoken and heartbreaking uncertainty in the air. Thank god it wasn't longer or else I would have passed out from holding my breath! I hope they don't go back to the way they were. How can they? They aren't teenagers anymore. I suspect they will find a new way to come together and connect and fall in love again. They have so much more to bring to the relationship this time around. Perhaps it will be a richer, fuller love, at least I hope so. Thanks for the update!
Author's Response: I would lean towards \"Draco is a chicken\" but sissy works too!
Sorry for the oxygen deprivation but I am thrilled the scene worked for you and really kept the tension level high. And I think you make a great point - they aren\'t who they used to be, but maybe this time can be something even better? We shall see!! ~Ves
After twelve years, Draco is released from prison.Category: Completed Short Stories
What a beautifully poignant and harsh fic. It was like sandpaper rubbing against my skin to see Draco so uncomfortable in his skin. But it is this authenticity of your Draco that held me captive. And that last part was simply masterful. The revelation of Draco's bitter "heroism" was sublime, just sublime. Thank you so much for writing this. I loved it!
Author's Response: Wow! Thank you so much! It\'s always nice to get reviews from someone who\'s writing you admire, especially one as nice as this. I\'m so glad you liked the story!
“Draco emerged from his third fairytale that month entirely exhausted. And worse of all, his tights were riding up. Again.” Some fluff for dragonlilleth, fallenwitch and jandjsalmon as a thank you. But watch out for Draco’s potty mouth!Category: Completed Short Stories
*Entirely way too influenced by you, FW, but at least, you manage to take that as a compliment – cough, cough.*
OMG, that was so freaking hysterical that I after I snorted diet coke all over my new laptop, I fell over laughing and passed out from a lack of oxygen, which certain people could argue was my problem all along. Excuse me - but Fairytale Hunter vs. Fairyman? And a "fucking ponce" vs a "fucking fairy"? Yodelling with associated PTSD style nightmares of yodelling? Brussels sprout green tights? Fuckity Fuck? "And they lived happily ever fucking after…"
But the daughter named Sophia - now that was interesting!
But underneath all that Black Alnair window dressing was a sublime and original plotline. Draco, an Errant Knight working for the Ministry, gallantly swoops in to various made-for Muggle fairytales to rescue the princess and save the day when the "real prince" is too much of a "wimp". In your story Draco is a real hero b/c he is helping to prevent the magical world from being discovered by Muggles. BTW, your reference to JKR was clever. Your whole concoction was genius. Genius!
Yep, that was one masterful satire of a certain author's writing style - the snark, the profanity, the crass humour and the edgy crawling into Draco's head POV. Who the hell could that be? Don't know, but I'm downloading this puppy to my hard drive right now b/c whoever it is would have to be nuts not to be flattered to death by such a wonderful, wonderful fic! So, thank you! I LOVED it! *still laughing*
Author's Response: Plotline? What plotline? *smiles*\r\n\r\nAgain, a wonderful review - I couldn\'t have expected any less. It was fun *being* you - or at least, trying to think like you for this work. But geez, it\'s exhausting to be in your head!
A conversation Draco overhears sends him into a fit of rage.Category: Completed Short Stories
Aw. Jealous!Draco now has a greater appreciation of his wife and should have known better than to believe a piece of his unintentional eavesdropping without further discussion. This was an adorable piece of fluff, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. *smiles*
It's nice to know I'm not the only one consuming a daily dose of dictionary.com's word of the day! Thanks for the wonderful new fic. Loved it!
Author's Response: I\'m so glad you liked it! And I should have guessed that you of all people would already know the word. Thanks for the review!
He didn’t want to come back, but certain witches have a way of making you do things you don’t want to.Category: Completed Short Stories
OMG, Draco didn't want to get a scar on his forehead like Potter! *eyes wide* Very clever.
Well, my dear, this was spectacular. Original. Well written. Funny as hell. And the fluff? Well, I sort of enjoyed that too but don't tell anyone!
Author's Response: FW - you win the Review Prize. That was my favourite part of the whole darn thing... and you are the ONLY one to mention the scar thing. I\'m glad you caught it... I was beginning to think that I wasn\'t as clever as I thought. ;)\r\n\r\nI\'m glad you liked it. Thank you for your wonderful praise. I\'m glad you thought I was funny. Sometimes I think I\'m funny - and Jay tells me it\'s only when I\'m NOT trying to be funny that I actually am... so I\'m glad this time I succeeded when I wanted to! ;)\r\n\r\nAnd YOU ENJOYED MY FLUFF? YAY! *my lips are sealed* ;)

Bummed out after reading DH? Need a D/G fluff infusion? Spoiler-free.Category: Completed Short Stories
Your crazy Muggle-loving witch and her house-elf are quite the adorable pair here. Thank you for the wonderful, fluff-filled adventures of our favorite pair. It's a much needed respite after the darkness and gloom and canon splitting despair of DH.
BTW, those two middle-aged witches look familiar to me. Do they look familiar to you as well?
Well done, seegrim. Well done. Wecome to the D/G authors' club. Pull up a chair and stay a while. I hope to read more from you in the future.
Author's Response: Those two middle-aged witches are obviously in the know. If I had to be caught checking out someone's backside, I'd want it to be Draco's. Thanks for reading my fluff-over and over-and for your patience. You're my Barbara Hershey. -seegrim
*DH Spoilers* For Severus Snape, who should have had a chance with the girl he loved.Category: Completed Short Stories
And for Draco and Ginny, who deserved a much better ending.
OMG, I think you have just rendered me speechless. *laughs* This was a beautiful, well done and evocative piece. The careful weaving together of D/G's tragic and short-lived relationship with that of L/S's flowering one allows our hearts to break while they are mending, and all within the arms of one brief fic. Fabulous. And the inevitable Slytherin fanfic twist to a DH outcome. Sensational, Lunaeyes. Not only the plot but your writing and skillful economy of words. It's an intoxicating mix for any true D/G shipper. Thanks for this one. It's memorable.
Author's Response: Oh, I am so glad. You, the one who set me on this path in the first place, I always look forward to your thoughts the most. I\'m glad you enjoyed the twists and turns of this story, that was both dark and light-hearted. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :) -Lauren
